If George had kept a McLaren behind with any one of the following issues, it would have been an extremely impressive performance:

Brake failure

Multiple resets required every lap to try and offset the brake failure

Dodgy gear shifts

Loss of the transponder causing a reduction in the information that could be provided by his engineer

Loss of automatic DRS

Loss of switches on the steering wheel

Loss of information on the dash

The potential for complete failure of the dash which would have rendered him only able to steer and change gear (this limited the setting changes he wanted to make in case the dash suddenly failed and he was stuck in a suboptimal setting)
