tell us about the rancher au 😈

😈😈😈 hehe….

okay so basically jack lives on a really big cattle farm in the middle of oklahoma. his father inherited it from his father and etc etc. they’re generational cattle farmers. jack was basically raised as a farmer. he learned how to ride horses really young, he learned how to milk cows and care for animals.

appearance wise, he’s not much different. he’s missing a few teeth from bull riding, his hair is longer (i imagine he keeps it in a braid or a ponytail), cowboy boots, blue jeans, the whole country getup. he also probably has a cowboy hat for the sun exposure and a LOT more freckles than normal. maybe a bandana here and there, tied around his belt loop or around his neck or arm. he’s got a lot more scars too, mostly from farm accidents. his most prominent is across his abdomen and it’s from being stabbed with a part of the fence while chasing a cow

the family has cows (obviously hehe) a few horses - jacks is named hermione after shakespeares “a winter tale”. another horse that jack rides often is named fleance after shakespeares “macbeth.” most of the animals jack names are after shakespeare plays. his family basically forced him to be a farmer because it’s in their blood, but he also has a passion for literature.

in addition to cows and horses, the family has a few sheep, a donkey, a barn cat named “juggles” (who mostly belongs to jacks littlest sister, annalise), a border collie named “sirius” (after the constellation. dog star get it haha), and a couple of ducks, geese, and chickens.

jack mostly hangs out with the cows. he’s one of the only family members to outsmart their bull and not get charged at, so he handles that. he also helps most of the cattle during the birthing process, which causes them to trust him more than the other family members. he’s also sirius’s favourite.

in his free time, he bull rides. jack is missing a couple teeth because of this, notably the tooth to the left of his front teeth. he’s actually pretty good at it though

he also line dances! the family is pretty big on dancing and jack comes from a small town where everyone knows each other really well, so line dancing is something that’s like a county wide activity (if it can even be called a county - it’s got a population of like 150)

jacks also really handy. he fixes most of their tractors and drives a really old rusted truck for farm work. but mostly everyone knows who he is and when he goes to the convenience store to get groceries (outside of what the family grows), the owner knows him by name and always asks about annalise.

the actual POINT of this au existing was because robert (ralph’s half brother) is one of jacks best friends and a mechanic, so he taught jack most of what he knows vehicle wise. ralph gets fired from his job as a psychiatrist in england and ends up coming to oklahoma to live with robert until he can get back on his feet. and he has to adjust to life surrounded by ranchers (he doesn’t like it. he thinks everyone needs therapy and they probably do).

i’m gonna say this now because i don’t think i elaborate it enough: roger and maurice are COUSINS in my version of lotf. it’s a headcanon that goes back literal years, i’ve always seen them as familial. rogice will never ever ever EVER be canon in anything i do/create because of that! i obviously don’t care if other people ship it, im not gonna be like uhhhh rogice sucks because it doesn’t, i love seeing what people create with it

it’s just that they’re literally blood related (roger’s dad and maurice’s mom) and it’s creepy for me to ship them in any capacity! that’s all :)

YES I DO ANON

He’s Guatemalan! his mom and dad immigrated to England when he was a very young boy

He’s got COPD and had it as a young boy. It’s a very rare disease for young people and makes it difficult for him to breathe

Bill also has ADHD and is failing a lot of his classes because of it. Peter is his tutor :)

Bill has a fascination with detective movies! Mostly Noir movies, but he will watch them for HOURS

Bill only joined the choir because Jack peer pressured him. He really didn’t want to join and he’s rather shy. That doesn’t stop him from making fun of Jack behind his back though

His last name Borg is Swedish! Bill’s father is Swedish and moved to Guatemala to marry his mother. Bill speaks fluent Swedish.

For a really long time, he was a choir’s token straight member. He is not straight, he is pansexual
