This photo of the Dunbar High School Tigers was taken in October 1946, when the school was located on Davis Avenue. It was later replaced by Central High School. Shown in the photograph are (bottom row, left to right) Levi Magwood, James W. Hollins Jr., Robert Lee McAroy, and Alphonse Harris. In the middle row from left to right are Freddie Smith, Reginald Packer, Melvin Allen, Rufus Hives, Roosevelt Pompey, Cleveland Smoke, and Thomas Moppins. In honor of Holocaust Remembrance Day, this photograph shows Kela and Harry Zarembo (at right) both survivors of the Shoah whose families were murdered. After the war the Zarembos moved Mobile and in their later life once they were settled, were active philanthropists including the donation of an ambulance to the Magen David Adom in Israel in memory of their parents.
