Attention

It’s going down is one of the best scenes in the new movie, but I love it especially because it gave us one of the best moments in the entire film if not the entire franchise. But I haven’t seen anyone talking about so I’m about to rant at you if you’ll let me for just  a minute.

Early in the film we see Mal meet with Harry in a tense stand off more for the fact that he’s delighted to see her back, seemingly without her pals, and she’s nervous because he could easily over power her. But she doesn’t once let it her nerves slip because she knows that he couldn’t hurt her even if he wanted to.

She’s cool and collected throughout the confrontation because she has to. She can’t slip. “Why bring this up?” I’ll tell you. During It’s Going Down, they’re in an entirely different situation. Mal has backup this time, but so does Harry, and I’d bet money that Uma has told her crew that if the VK’s even so much as breath funny in their direction they have free reign to bring down hell on them. So Mal is a little more cautious because it’s Ben that’s on the line here, but she sure isn’t going to back down from a challenge. When Harry steps up this time it’s a little more threatening, a little more unpredictable.

When he touches her this time she is visibly more nervous than the last time. Suddenly behind her, we see Jay. Jay, who crept up quietly, and deadly. Who doesn’t give a damn whether this is going to just set Harry off or not, he is not going to even come near Mal if Jay is not right behind there. Jay is letting him know that he doesn’t come close to her without coming through him. And quietly showing Mal that she’s not doing this alone

And Harry, isn’t stupid. He knows Jay and Mal combined isn’t a battle he wants to fight. So he backs up, gives them room. Knows Jay is deadly loyal and doesn’t see the point in getting into a battle that he knows he can’t win.

But he has to get one more warning in, and he doesn’t direct it at Mal this time. No, he directs it at Jay. He’s letting Jay know, without a doubt,  that he will send Ben to the bottom of the ocean. That Jay can’t do anything because he is loyal and if he did start anything he would be signing Ben’s death certificate. Jay wouldn’t do anything to Harry for the same reason he stood up to him at Mal’s side. Jay is loyal and fierce and will defend his friends no matter what.

All I’m saying is that Jay is an amazing character and this is one of my favorite moments in this entire franchise and I hate that no one is talking about it.
