Hey guys! Some people have asked me if there was an info page for the game, and while I’m not sure if I’m doing it right, I thought I’d make an attempt here!

“What is WTLTS?”

When there’s light, there’s Shadow is an RPG Maker MV fangame about Shadow and Maria’s life on the ARK! It’s in very early development with no set release date or demo, as we’re a pretty small team and I’m pretty new to making games in general. But we’re trying our best!

“What does it feature?”

At the moment there’s several locations, a basic battle system, and a pretty simple plot line as the game is currently in draft format as I’d like to call it. But in the future there will be chapters, mini games, achievements, a fully original soundtrack, and secrets you’ll be able to unlock. Possibly even a friendship system and in-game voice acting. (We have three voice actors already! One for Maria, Abe, and Shadow. 😄)

“What is the plot?”

It’s a bit hard to explain as I don’t want to spoil things and it’s still quite early, but the plot is planned to take place a year after Shadow’s creation. By this point he is familiar with the ARK and its inhabitants. He has a very close and supportive relationship with Maria, and a good relationship with Gerald. The story will be pretty lighthearted, but through the course of the game things will start to take a turn for the ARK Siblings, as we all know how this ends. 🥲

“Will the game be free?”

It will be 100% free, and will likely be released on Itch.io! This game is not being made for profit, it’s a passion project all the way! 😄

“How can I show support?”

Spreading the word about the game is the best way to do that! Whether it’s through sharing with friends, reblogging, or just talking about it on other sites!

“Is there any way to help out?”

Ruin: “…You gave him catnip??”

Solar: “Why?”

Sakura: “So, how is it being an astral?”

Lunar/Cosmos: “Tiring…but still exciting!”

Solar: “Is Gemini still being petty?”

Lunar/Cosmos: “No, not as much anymore!!”

Sakura: “Good, cause I was close to choking them out-“

Solar: “Sakura.”

Sakura: “WHAT?? HE’S MY BROTHA!! LEAVE ME ALONE!!”

*Scene skip to Ruin, yawning. He’s holding a cup of tea. He walks over to the computers, setting down the cup.*

Kerian: “Well, hello there, British boy~…”

*Ruin perks up, instantly turning around.*

Ruin: “YOU!!”

Kerian: “Yes, I. Hello again, Ruin~…”

Ruin: “What are you doing here…?”

Kerian: “Paying a little visit! I missed you all~!”

Ruin: *grabs a knife from his hat and points it at Kerian.*

Kerian: “Woah, woah!! You wouldn’t want to do that!!”

Ruin: “Yeah, and why not?”

Kerian: “Because of this.”

*Kerian holds up a blue flash drive.*

Ruin: “Shit…H-HOW DID YOU GET THAT?!”

Kerian: “Left it on the desk. You should keep a better eye on it~!”

Ruin: “PUT. THEM. DOWN.”

Kerian: “Hmm…no, I don’t think so~…”

Ruin: “Please…just h-hand them back to me…”

*Kerian pauses, before laughing. He drops the flash drive, and steps on it, smashing it to pieces. Ruin freezes.*

Kerian: “Oops~!”

Ruin: “You…BASTARD!”

*Ruin attempts to stab Kerian, but is knocked down by him. Kerian laughs once more as Ruin lays on the floor.*

Ruin: “Ugh…”

Kerian: “Well, this was fun. But I have business to take care of~. Ta-ta~!”

*Kerian walks away, leaving Ruin on the ground. Ruin stares at the broken flash drive, frozen, till he starts to cry, holding the broken pieces of the drive. Cut back to the others.*

Solar: “Did you guys hear something?”

Lunar/Cosmos: “No??”

Sakura: “Isn’t Ruin in the daycare with the computers?”

*pause*

Solar: “SHIT-“

Sakura: “Already on it.”

Solar: “Lunar, can you watch Jack and Aurora for me??”

Lunar/Cosmos: “Got it.”

Solar: *running off* “THANKS!!”

Sakura: *following him, holding a vine covered in thorns.

Aurora: “Enjoying the tea, Jack?”

Jack: “What tea??”

Aurora: “The tea that’s in your cup!”

Jack: “It’s air!!!”

Aurora: “Jack!! It’s imaginary tea!!”

Jack: “OOOOH!”

Kerian: “Oooh. Little ones~!”

Kerian: “Hello, blue bird~.”

Jack: *picks up Aurora and walks over to Cosmos.*

Kerian: “You can still join me and Rez.”

Kerian: *walking over to them* “Come on~…”

Jack: *hissing at Kerian*

Aurora: “…”

Kerian: “You can have anything~! EVERYTHING~! Just ditch the kids, and come with-“

Aurora: “HE SAID TO BACK OFF, YOU EMO KFC MEAL!!!”

Kerian: “Ooh! Such a fiery kiddo!! Hmm…fine…I’ll just take her then~…”

Lunar/Cosmos: “Leave her out of this! She’s just a child!!”

Jack: *tightly holding onto Aurora.*

Kerian: “Hand her over, pumpkin boy.”

*Kerian attempts to grab Aurora, only to be electrocuted immediately as he grabs her arm.*

Aurora: “DONT F**KING TOUCH ME!!!”

Jack: “!!!”

Lunar/Cosmos: “…You heard her! LEAVE!!”

Kerian: “Hmmp. Fine. But I’ll be back. BUH BYE!!!”

*And with that, Kerian disappears. Lunar looks over at Aurora.”

Lunar/Cosmos: “How did you do that?!”

Aurora: “I…I don’t know…you okay Jack?”

Jack: *nodding*

*Back with Solar and Sakura, they make it to the daycare. Solar sees Ruin on the floor crying, and runs over to him.*

Solar: “RUIN! Are you okay?? What happened?!”

Ruin: “…”

Sakura: “…Ruin??”

Solar: “RuRu?? Sweetie-“

*Ruin hugs onto Solar, crying into his shoulder.*

Ruin: *whispering, breaking down* “My baby…h-he killed my baby…”

*Solar pauses, before sighing. He hugs Ruin back, even though he’s confused. Baby?? What baby?? Solar didn’t know anything about a baby….*

 Ruin stretches, sighing as he finally got Aurora and Jack down for a nap. He walks down the hallway, looking for Solar. He looks around, walking to a door he hasn’t really seen before. He opens it, peeking in.

  “Solar, darling, are you-“ Ruin started, immediately pausing once he saw Solar. Solar was lifting some weights, struggling a bit. Solar was in a black tank top and gray sweatpants. He was panting, sweating a large amount. Ruin blushes, though he’s unsure why. Solar spots him and smiles.

  “Hi there, sweetie~!!” Solar beamed, placing down the weights. Ruin’s face just gets redder, realizing he’s just been staring at Solar for a while.

  “H-hello darling!!” Ruin stutters, fidgeting with his hands. Solar tilts his head, smirking.

  “What? See something you like~?” Solar teases, only making Ruin blush more. He hides his face with his hands, not even sure what to even say anymore. Solar laughs, before suddenly picking up Ruin, holding him like he weights nothing. Ruin yelps, trying to get out of his grip.

  “LET-LET ME GO, YOU CANDYCORN BASTARD!!!” Ruin yelled, kicking. 

  “NOPE, YOU’RE STUCK LIKE THIS! HAHA!!” Solar responded, holding Ruin close to him like a teddy bear. Ruin just sighs, burying his flushed face in Solar’s chest.
