Into the Mountains

We took a quick trip to Ketchum this weekend, just to get away and find some dark skies to see the meteors! 💫 It’s been a really long time since I’ve caught a good meteor shower and the Persieds really delivered this year. We saw meteors that were a range of different colors, even one that was purple. What a treat. We detoured a bit on our way and checked out Wild Rose Hot Springs - definitely a good amount of algae in there but cool to see. We’re hoping to make this a yearly tradition, but I hope we can go in the early summer too someday so I can see the wildflowers and the gardens around town in full bloom. 🌼💛

We took a whirlwind trip to Boston! Our niece wanted to explore historical sites as well as incredible architecture like the Boston Public Library (first pic is the courtyard from the library). Naturally, I was most excited for the gardens mixed in among the history. Second pic is from the Boston Public Gardens (founded in 1837). Third pic is from a lovely neighborhood garden space and the last pic is a small garden nearby the seaport. We rode past the Berkeley Community Garden and weren’t able to stop, but that place looked full of amazing edible gardens. What an experience! Hurray!! A fun time was had by all at Ustick in Bloom 2023. The music was great, the weather stayed nice (those clouds in the second picture freaked us out for awhile but then just disappeared), and there were so many awesome, friendly people who stopped by to check out the booth. Thank you to everyone who said hi! (Pictured is my niece with her new sun hat) Time for some rest and recuperation. And then on to the next adventure! Tomorrow, Saturday June 10 is the annual Ustick in Bloom event at Redwood Park! From 5-9 pm. It looks like the weather will be good 🤞🏼 and it’ll be a lot of fun!! I’m working hard getting ready for the 2023 Ustick in Bloom event - a fun evening of food, music, and crafts in Redwood Park! It’s such a good way to get involved with the community. Parking is super limited near the park, so if you live in the neighborhood try to plan to walk or bike. June 10th, 5-9 pm I’ll be selling handmade items like hats, bags, coasters, dishcloths, wall decor, stuffed animals and more! And… Jon has started making another set of edge grain cutting boards for the event as well! They’re gorgeous and you’ll definitely want to check them out. In the next couple weeks, I’ll be posting some photos here of items for the event. Hi, I’m a jewelry maker out of Albuquerque, New Mexico! A few years ago I started the shop with a dream: make better, weirder Pride jewelry than you can get in a brick and mortar store.

In the past few years, I’ve been making all kinds of stuff– not just Pride stuff– but some of my favorite stuff is the fused glass Pride jewelry that I specialize in.

Hats, hats, and more hats! I recently got an Addi knitting machine and have been (literally) cranking away at the oldest yarn in my stash to give myself some space to organize everything. Here is a selection of the finished hats. Most of these are made using acrylic yarn, though a few have some wool in them. The machine makes such a consistent product and it’s so, so fast from start to finish. I do want to sell these! I’m asking $10 each. They are double-thick, so they’re very warm. Let me know what color you like, if you see it here, or I can look through what else I have. DIfferent yarns give different results and some of them are more stretchy than others. If you receive one and it just doesn’t work for you, I will happily make you another one and I just ask that you donate the first one. If you know of a charity that would appreciate a large number of hats, let me know that too and I’d be happy to donate a stack. I’ve been thinking about zines a lot which is probably a combination of the number of pieces I’m working on for zines rn and going to a small press festival last week where I picked up so many zines, so I ended up making a little tiny fanzine with lil tributes to a-lot-but-not-all-of Shipwrecked projects, featuring some handlettering, tiny sketches, some digital stuff, and a playlist of questionable quality which is what happens when you mostly listen to showtunes and have had Come From Away stuck in your head for weeks oops. I was marathoning all their work while I made this which reminded me how much I love all of their projects so much and anyways if you haven’t watched their stuff please do so immediately I recommend all of it :)
