I found this amazing drawer turned shelf at the thrift today and was glad to be able to put all of the also thrifted little food things out, especially the ice cream stuff (I’m ice cream *obsessed*!). My little Mel heart is sooooo happy!!!

What trinkets would you put on there if this was your shelf?

My fave reads are speculative fiction, and among them dystopian fiction from the mid-to-late 1900’s guessing what the future was like, the future being now or near now. So far, there have always been hits!
Here’s my current read, published in 1975, purchased from local independent bookstore The Couth Buzzard (loved visiting this place!!).

How’s this for a hit/warning in my first reading session: “The first advance of the (governing) body (The Christian Party) came in the complete breakdown of the public school system, thus removing the youth of the country from the leftist influences of the central government” (page 29).
So all but the elite are illiterate. But hey, on the bright side (sarcasm and 🙄) “the right to own a car was one of the more basic freedoms, something not to be tampered with” (page 31). I’m guessing they didn’t believe in Maslow’s hierarchy of needs…
There are always tells of the time too; here, a character’s girlfriend is referred to as his/my “doll.” Le sigh.
What kind of books are you into and why?

Some recent outdoor foraging (crabs and honey).

Some recent indoor foraging (creative reuse store digging).

Which is more your jam: indoor or outdoor?

Who else is a snail and slug lover? Every time I’m in the forest I take pics of all the friends I see. 😍 My favorite is when I catch them chomping on a mushroom.
i like working at plant store. sometimes you ring up someone and there's a slug on their plant and so you're like "Oh haha you've got a friend there let me get that for you" and you put the slug on your hand for safekeeping but then its really busy and you dont have time to take the slug outside before the next customer in line so you just have a slug chilling on your hand for 15 minutes. really makes you feel at peace with nature. also it means sometimes i get to say my favorite line which is "would you like this free slug with your purchase"

I was so excited to find out there was an Anastasia Inciardi mini print vending machine nearby! I adore mini everything! 😍 And food-themed anything is my favorite!! So…I loaded up on quarters (each print is a super affordable $1) and stopped by Hoste, a cool curated secondhand & home and body store. Thankfully the vending machine rotates through and I was able to get all 9 mini prints. They now sit proudly and colorfully over my work table. And I was introduced to a cool secondhand fashion magazine too: Mildew. I love when secondhand is embraced as COOL! And art is made accessible!

We have a small pond, and I’d never seen this before last night and am in love at their soft little gathering space: all the little crawlies came out to drink what the rain had left; a little nighttime bug nom paradise! 💞 Or what do you think is happening? Would love to hear some stories.
You bet I’m looking out there every night now.

I have an Instax mini and love analog everything. I’ve been trying to decide between a film camera and a larger Polaroid. I came across this Vivitar 600 at a local auction and it was love at first sight!! I can’t afford film until next month tho lol.

As a US voter and tax payer, are you looking for factual and cited information to help you understand what Congress and the Executive Branch are doing to advance (or not) Palestinian rights and freedom? If yes, you might appreciate the thorough memos from the Institute for Middle East Understanding (IMEU) Policy Project and/or their weekly Palestine Policy Roundup.
The latest memo (and the source for this image) can be found here: https://www.imeupolicyproject.org/memos/additional-jrds-needed-to-block-4-billion-more-of-weapons-to-israel

On Reddit and Discord I’m part of groups that exchange and offer stickers, cards, postcards and letters! Here’s what’s come this week!!
It’s SO FUN receiving cool stamps, reading stories and jokes, and getting mail from all over the US and the world. I love mailing my own out too!! I collect most of mine to send secondhand and vintage, finding them treasure hunt style.
This is a new hobby and perhaps one of my very all time favorites! Tell me about one of your hobbies!

Today is Seattle Art Museum’s free entrance day, and I went specifically to see Ai Weiwei’s exhibition of largely activist art. My favorite piece was Porcelain, pictured below. I also included a selfie piece in Legos of Ai Weiwei and the information about his exhibit. I highly recommend!
If you’ve seen Ai Weiwei’s exhibit or work online, which is a favorite piece of yours?

A miniature bathroom *inside* a bathroom…I’m obsessed! I love little worlds SO MUCH!! (It’s why I love Polly Pockets.)
What would be in your tiny bathroom? Mine would have a food-themed LUSH bath bomb going off in it. 😍
