Questions About Creating Your OCs

‘Cause sometimes the stories of how OCs come to be are just as interesting as the OCs, themselves. Tell me how your virtual kids came into the world.

What was the first element of your OC that you remember considering (name, appearance, backstory, etc.)? 

Did you design them with any other characters/OCs from their universe in mind? 

How did you choose their name? 

In developing their backstory, what elements of the world they live in played the most influential parts?

Some sort of failure in Sector C blew out all the equipment in the facility!" "That ain't the fucking problem! There's things running around killing people, and they don't look like no wild animals I've ever seen!" "Say again, Banks? What are you seeing?" "They're fucking Aliens, far as I'm concerned! Sure look the part- COVER THAT DOORWAY!" "Alien? Banks, what the hell are you seeing? Talk to me! BANKS!"

"Good morning, and welcome to the Black Mesa Transit System. The time is 9:23 AM. Current topside temperature is 93 degrees, with an estimated high of one hundred and five. The Black Mesa compound is maintained at a pleasant 68 degrees at all times. This train is Inbound from Area 3 Security Facilities to Sector B Test Labs and Control Facilities."

Not your "Divine Savior"

Sebastian Fletcher has never been anything close to normal in his life; the closest he's ever gotten has been working for the Black Mesa Research Facility, a job that most people wouldn't consider normal to begin with. But for Seb, it's the least stressed he's ever been in his life, and that's good enough. He has friends, a stable job, and for the first time ever, a chance at a decent life. Of course, it's not going to pan out that way; in fact, the goddamn world started ending about 6 hours ago, not that anyone noticed at the time. But Seb doesn't care. He has NEVER cared. He doesn't care about what exactly is happening, or what caused it, or how to stop it. He is not the One Free Man, he is not the Guiding Shephard, he's just Seb. And Seb just wants to live. That's not so bad, is it?

Turns out Vine Comp 2.22 just went from 30% done to 80% done thanks to @just-a-space-nugget . I cannot stress enough that Nugget did most of the work for this one, both in sourcing the videos and assigning the characters. Expect it in the coming days (and go follow them because they deserve the love)

(( The Mesaverse is a Half-Life AU that my friends and I created via Tumblr RP blogs. We have lore and everything we have just never shared. So here is a small window into the Mesaverse world focusing on two characters, Sebastian Fletcher and Johnathan Pierce, from our AU and how they both make it out of City 17 after the fall of the Citadel. This work was written by both me and my friend since Sebastian is their OC. I hope you enjoy! ))

Everything was chaotic. Buildings were being bombed left and right. Soldiers were flooding the streets shooting anyone and everyone no matter if you were a rebel or an innocent person caught in the middle. People were screaming and running for their lives. The uprising was never going to be easy, they knew this, but now that they were actually doing it.. it almost was too much to handle. The citadel was up in flames, a loud alarm blaring from the looming tower. Suddenly the entire building lit up with a bright blinding light followed by an explosion that left the ground trembling in its wake. Everyone across the city stopped for a moment and turned their attention to the alien building and watched as it all came tumbling down.
