You know you've Fallen London-ed too hard (I'd say too close to the sun, but...) when you're flipping through your (real life!) dream journal and spot this:

#what does any of this mean? I do not know#you ever just DREAM in text-based browser game format?#something is wrong with me#fallen london#flondon

I am coming out as the biggest fan and supporter of copper.
If Minecraft copper has a million fans, then I am one of them.
If Minecraft copper has ten fans, then I am one of them.
If Minecraft copper has only one fan, then that is me.
If Minecraft copper has no fans, then that means I am no longer on earth.
If the world is against Minecraft copper, then I am against the world.

Every now and then, I am reminded of the time when my dad first read The Lay of Leithian and somehow missed the fact that Huan was a dog, and was very confused for a huge chunk of the story and kept having to mentally come up with explanations for increasingly strange things.
Everyone calling him a "hound"? - just a statement of character
Being Celegorm's dog? - some sort of weird indentured servitude thing??
Defeating wolf Sauron with his bare teeth? - dude's just really hardcore (and we just saw Felagund do something similar like half a canto ago)
Him being granted speech only 3 times and that being a big deal? - wow that's a brutal curse
Luthien riding on his back? - huh that's a really weird dynamic
It was literally in Huan's last scene when he figured it out

Fallen London is so great. You'll be like "Okay, so now that I have a Whirring Contraption I have to go to Doubt Street and create a Rather Poor Edition of a newspaper to have enough Jade to buy a Human Ribcage, which I will then exchange for Incisive Observations, which I can use to level up my Shifty Students, and then after I graduate 3 more students, I'll finally have a Gifted Student!
This will make my lab research slightly more efficient."

I love it when a nightmare increase caused by something major and terrifying is reduced by an item.
The horrors are immense, but I've got my fancy walking stick so we're all good.

Pre-apocalyptic worldbuilding is not for the faint of heart. I'm looking through our color-coded People Who Exist Spreadsheet, and there's just so much red I'm going to cry

Worldbuilding is crazy because it will genuinely have you close to tears, on a 2 hour call with your friend, 20 agriculture studies deep on google search, desperately trying to figure out what the average volume of a potato in a fictional country is.
And the thing is, that's the best part.

A ...fun... fact about my FL character is that every time I try to draw her, something happens and I am forced to divert my attention elsewhere in the real world. Which is
#fallen london#also the few times I get far along enough to see how it's going it looks nothing like her so I guess she just refuses to be portrayed

Ideas from my childhood stories that go weirdly hard:
Healing magic that's activated by skin contact with blood, thus requiring a healer to dramatically cover their hands in the patient's blood for maximum effect, which is a level of intimacy that... OR for a bloodless wound, blood must be shed somehow AND a healer being wounded would lead to uncontrollable healing of nothing in particular, which would then lead to magical exhaustion
A group of nomadic interdimensional travelers that can only travel because they have no true home. No matter where they go, they will never belong. Eventually each world they visit begins to reject them and they slowly waste away and die.
A girl with the ability to see through other people's eyes (but only if they were within sight of her). It was surprisingly useful.
A group of people who no matter what they do, provoke a feeling of intense disgust in everyone who perceives them, alongside an urge to cause them harm. Now, most people don't act on every single thought and feeling they have, so most of the time they're fine. But not always. The story focused on two of these people who against all odds manage to disregard their mutual disgust of each other and form the first friendship either of them has ever had.
Magic powers that are communicable and spread like a plague (turns out this is a very bad thing to happen to a world)
