[The video has English and Ukrainian subtitles as well] Makariw unter Beschuss – Zivile Verluste durch russische Raketenangriffe In der Nacht vom 25. auf den 26. Mai 2025 wurde der Ort Makariw westlich von Kyjiw erneut zum Ziel russischer Luftangriffe. Zwei Kalibr-Marschflugkörper und eine ballistische Rakete schlugen in einem Wohnviertel ein. Dabei entstanden drei Krater, ein Wohnhaus wurde schwer beschädigt, ein Mann (49) kam durch Trümmer ums Leben. Makariw war bereits 2022 zeitweise unter russischer Besatzung. Damals kam es zu zahlreichen dokumentierten Kriegsverbrechen an Zivilisten. Vor zwei Jahren sprach ich mit Ludmila, die die Erschießung ihres Mannes miterlebte und selbst angeschossen wurde. Hier veröffentliche ich zum ersten Mal Teile des Interviews. In meiner Reportage dokumentiere ich auch die aktuellen Zerstörungen, spreche mit einer 86-jährigen Überlebenden und ordne den Angriff ein – auch vor dem Hintergrund der gezielten Gewalt gegen zivile Infrastruktur.

Ich war in einer ukrainischen Stadt, in der Mitte des Landes. Auf einem Platz dort, wurde dem Schmerz der letzten 100 Jahre gedacht. Vom Holodomor, Zweiter Weltkrieg, bis heute:

I've started a fundraiser to support the BuchaBest church choir. As well as the family members of one of the choir singers Andriy S.. Andriy and his parents, neighbours and other family members, were murdered by russian soldiers during the occupation of Bucha in March 2022.

In this video the choir performes four Ukrainian church songs. The performance was filmed in the St. Andriy Church of Bucha, the place were a mass grave had to be created, because of the high number of murdered civilians during the occupation. The funds raised via Vimeo will be split between the choir and the family of Andriy. The surviving family stills lives in the house in Bucha. It was ransacked and partially destroyed by russian soldiers living in it. Additionally, the water- and heating pipes in the house burst due to the cold. Unfortunatly, the family can't afford the funds to fully restore the house, but they still have to live in it.

My documentary about the russian occupation of Bucha is finally finished. The film centers around the church choir of St. Andrews-Church. That church were a mass grave had to be made during the russian occupation.

As a filmmaker with German-Ukrainian roots, this project is dear to my heart and must've been the most emotional production I've ever conducted. It was an Indie-production as well.

PREVIEW zu meinem Doku-Projekt “Der lange Februar - Leben in russisch besetzten Gebieten”

In diesem Haus in Irpin lebte mal Tamara, mit Ehemann, Sohn und der über 90-Jährigen Mutter. Irpin wurde von der russischen Armee wahllos beschossen. Am 5. März 2022 trifft es Tamaras Haus. Die Familie kann nur noch sich selbst retten. Alles, was sie sich in ihrem Leben aufgebaut hatten und besaßen, verbrennt. Kleidung, Elektronik, Fotos, selbst Besteck und Teller, einfach alles ist weg. Seit einem Jahr lebt die Familie in ihrer Garage, das Freiwillige notdürftig winterfest gemacht haben. Tamaras vollständige Geschichte (und viele mehr), werde ich in meiner Doku “Der lange Februar - Leben in russisch besetzten Gebieten” erzählen.
