I know we've talked about this shot countless times already but I still think about it 24/7. Like what was the reason? The directors could've just let all of them stand directly next to each other without any gaps, they could've made them stand randomly distributed somewhere on the hill looking down. But they chose to pair them up into these specific groups with El standing alone in the front. Joyce and Hopper (couple) holding hands, Nancy and Jonathan (couple) holding hands and Mike and Will (one is canonically in love with the other; not holding hands yet) in the middle while one of them is supposed to be in a relationship with the girl standing alone in front of them. Why didn't they pair up Mike and Eleven (after their "epic love confession") and put Will alone in the front since he's supposed to be the main focus for season 5 anyway and the audience learned a few minutes earlier that he's still connected to the UD?

Believe me I do in fact doubt the Duffers a lot of times but THIS? This shot has to be intentional.

Based on the cast list we can see only three new characters have been added (plus Holly's actress was changed too). One is Holly's friend, Derek, and then two are adult roles. There are no new teen characters listed. (x)

Even Vickie is listed, even though she doesn't seem to have a central role.

My point being: no new teenage boy is listed who could be a possible love interest for Will. If even Vickie as Robin's love interest is listed (even with her likely limited screen time), then Will is definitely not getting a secondary love interest.
