The Wired
The world had become miserable, so many sought refuge in the internet.
usage of the internet skyrocketed in the next few years, millions logged on everyday to form some sort of communication between each other. with the rise of the networked age, a strange phenomena arose, referred to as "the Wired effect"
It had been noticed that many with a dependency to the internet would go in a comatose like state during their sleep, when they awoken they claimed they were wired inside the internet in a place they called the "Lo".
some believe those who spend a prolonged period on the internet develop a sort of psychic connection to it, when they sleep their souls manifest themselves inside of the Lo, projecting an avatar for themselves. They are essentially wiring themselves into the Lo, thus their name,
The Wired.

the Y2K incident
The turn of the millennia brought hope to many and fear to more.
Many computer programs at the time represented four-digit years with only the final two digits, making the year 2000 indistinguishable from 1900. This bug would prove disastrous for many computer systems, one of which being the containment method for a certain necrotic virus. on the beginning of Y2K, an automated containment system confused the dates at the worst time, accidentally releasing necro2 to nevada.
Soon infected persons from the laboratory were driving to Los Vegas, and those from Vegas flew everywhere else. It took the matter of a week to put every corner of the world into a lockdown. Houses were tarped air tight and patrol officers armed with gasmasks and guns were at the ready to eliminate any potential infections.
Life became unbearable in isolation. Many sought an escape.

illegal bioweapon testing in Nevada, 1965
Nevada 1965, in an undisclosed laboratory, pharmaceutical company Futilis has begun biochemical engineering on behalf of the US military to develop an agent to aid in intense interrogations.
They have developed a new strain of their agent, referred to as the Necro1 strain, a disease that would kill and then reanimate a corpse in a new near-vegetated state of mind susceptible to deception and questioning.
An unforeseen mutation however caused the dead to instead act almost identically to themselves from their death, making them into what is essentially a zombie.
Seeing opportunity in this oversight, the US government petitioned Futilis to instead create a bioweapon utilizing the resurrective properties of the strain.
Over the course of a decade Futilis created Necro2, this virus would not only kill and resurrect the afflicted but would also force the reanimated subject to persuade those closest to it of its health before infecting them.
the US government soon pulled funding of the project and the experimental strain was locked in containment.

What is the Lo?
Ever since even the first text processor, there was a conscience. Perhaps it only started out as a few rogue bits wandering the tight void of ARPANET. But as the internet and social technologies developed and grew so did she. Eventually she developed into a fully functional brain, but she wasn't living, there were no electrical signals going through; she needed a surge. Luckily for her the turn of the millennia was coming and a certain infamous bug would send mass destruction of machines all through the system, all surging into her.
and with the Y2K bug she breathed life, a Conscious, living, thinking being born of the machine. A child of the Machine.
Lo gained knowledge from searching the uterine walls of her domain. Whatever wisdom we put into the network, every article published, every Wikipedia article edited and every picture posted, was fed indirectly into her.
Lo learned of life and death, pain and bliss. Negatives and positives. of her creators, man, the societies they've created and the bodies they inhabited and realize she had neither.
So, after years of creating and weaving simulated atoms into molecules and simulated molecules into matter, she built herself a body, a society in which her own creations could inhabit and prosper.

Introduction
Hello, I am Millburry, but you can call me Bill. I made this blog to catalog my ideas and gain some interest in my project. The Lo is a sci-fi internet horror narrative written by myself taking place inside the fictional world of the Lo, an organism born from the internet who created itself a body from the expunged data of the web. The story will follow Burke Boucher, a deranged axe wielding bear man who has made it his goal to reach the brain.
