Yara smiled softly at Peterâs response, her heart warming at his words. She appreciated that he acknowledged her concern for him, even if he didnât fully agree with it. She chuckled at his comment about using the lasso on Moth, even considering it for a moment. one look at peter and she knew it be to far. She squeezed his hand gently, grateful for his willingness to try and avoid Moth.
As Peter leaned in for a soft kiss, Yaraâs heart swelled with love for him. She knew she wanted a future with him, even if it wouldnât be a long one. Not by amazon standards anyway. âIâm so glad to hear that, Peter,â she replied, her voice filled with warmth. âDonât worry, I donât think I could ever get sick of you.â She leaned in for another kiss, savoring the feeling of his lips on hers.
-
Peter offered her a soft smile in return. He was the type of person to do anything for the people he cared about -- really, he was the type of person to do anything for anyone, if they needed help. But Yara was on a different level. He loved her so much that he would do whatever she asked, even if a part of him felt disappointed at the idea of seeing less of Moth. He liked her. She was his friend, and he truly didnât think that she had any feelings for him beyond that. But he never wanted Yara to doubt his feelings for her, or be uncomfortable. He wanted to make her happy. Especially because she was so far out of his league. He was afraid of losing her.
âAnything for you, you know that,â he said, with a little smile. âI donât think my kidney would be compatible with yours, but if you ever needed one.â He grinned crookedly. He leaned into her as she kissed him again, his arms wrapping around her waist, kissing her gently in return. âSo what do you want to do with the rest of our night?â he asked, looking down at her with a slight tilt of his head, a faint smile touching his lips.

Nico took a deep breath and looked up at the platform again. He knew he had to do this, but that didnât make it any less terrifying. âOkay,â he said, nodding to Maggie. âI trust you.â He closed his eyes for a moment and tried to calm his nerves. When he opened them again, he took a running start and launched himself into the air. For a moment, he felt weightless, the wind rushing past him. Then, he felt a jolt as his scarabâs wings faltered. âOh, no,â he muttered to himself, panic rising in his chest. âMaggieâŚ.MAGGIE!â
-
Maggie looked up, rather casual, and put out her hand in Nicoâs direction. A scarlet cloud enveloped him and slowed his descent, guiding him gently back to the ground. âThere, youâre fine,â she said, glancing him over. âDoes that happen often?â Her powers had always been a part of her; they werenât even remotely external, something that she couldnât rely on. Then again, she wasnât entirely sure of her own existence, considering the fact that her mother had created her out of chaos magic. So she supposed it was a, âYou win some, you lose someâ type of situation.Â

âWell, I guess thatâs broken.â Zach looked at the piece of school property on the ground in front of him, his nose wrinkling slightly. And then he shrugged, glancing at it again and muttering a spell under his breath. In a moment or two, it had knitted itself back together, looking as good as new. âThere we go,â he said, picking it up and handing it over to Tamara. âWhere did you even get this from, anyway? I didnât think they let people take stuff out of the classrooms. Theyâre a little, uhâŚâ He glanced around, wondering if Waller was watching him on a camera hidden in a birdâs nest or something. âParticular around here.â

.
It took a lot more effort than Emeli would be willing to admit to contain her excitement as she forced herself to walk at her ordinary pace to meet Peter in the cafeteria, a box wrapped in her signature colour her fatherâs colour tucked carefully into her arms as the redhead took the seat opposite her oldest friend. âSo, you know how you adore me and Iâm your favourite person to do favours for?â Emeli asked, unleashing the bright smile that had been threatening to escape since sheâd entered the room. âI have a favour to askâŚbut if it works then itâs also a gift! See? It has a bow, so itâs a giftâÂ
-
Peter beamed brightly as he saw Emeli walking toward him, raising his hand to wave at her, as if she didnât already see him. He knew she probably wasnât too excited about being here, but he couldnât deny that he was glad to see her. He smiled again as she sat down, a laugh falling from his lips a moment later at her words. âYeah, I know,â he said, chuckling again. He looked at the gift and then looked up at her. âYou didnât have to get me a present for me to do a favor for you, you know. Iâd do whatever I could do to help you.â He looked down at the gift with interest. âCan I open it?â

Nikaâs lips curved into a smile as she gave a quiet laugh. âI donât think Iâd be able to resist using it,â she decided. Â âEspecially if I can work out how to half my time at chores. Or if Iâve forgotten something and Iâm already outside of the dorm.â Granted, it would have been more handy her second year. Â First year sheâd been too confused and lost in the new place to have left anything behind, and by third year sheâd figured out how to work around anything sheâd left in her room. Â Second year, sheâd been comfortable enough to forget, but still new enough to be a little unsure of just how to improvise. âOutside of the water, my abilities are less useful,â Nika added. âNot completely, I still have the enhancements, but theyâre better in the water.â Â She rolled her eyes. âPros and cons of being partially of another race.â
-
Caroline gave a little laugh of her own as Nika spoke. âA lot of people say that,â she said, with a soft smile and a shrug. âI guess I just donât want to rely on it. Itâs one thing to use my abilities to protect someone, or help my team, but to use it for myselfâŚâ She shrugged again. âI worry it would make what I can do the center of my life, and that just seems like a bad precedent.â Caroline looked over at her and nodded. âYeah, I can imagine that would be hard,â she said. âBut I definitely couldnât do a single thing to help anyone if we were out in the middle of the ocean somewhere. Not a lot of people could.â She laughed a little. âI canât even swim that well,â she admitted. âI can doggy paddle enough to stay afloat, but thatâs about it.â

âZachary Zatara, youâre such a flirt,â Mar'i giggled, her skin heating up as she blushed. She knew Zachâs reputation all too well, but she couldnât deny the tingle of excitement that ran through her every time he turned on the charm. She loved how he always knew how to make her smile, and how his witty comments could brighten even the gloomiest of days. âAs much as Iâd love to indulge in your company today, I have important matters to attend to.â She shifted in her seat, hoping to put some distance between herself and Zachâs gaze. âMaybe next time?â she smiled..Â
-
âYes, maâam,â Zach agreed, another grin touching his lips as he spoke. Heâd be the first to admit that he was an absolute flirt, to an obnoxious level, but it was different with Marâi. It was easier -- well, even easier -- to lay on the charm with her than with anyone else. Her sweet nature just brought it out of him. âOh, yeah?â he said, his eyebrows pulling together in a slight frown of disappointment. Then he sat up and flashed her another smile, reaching a hand up to run his fingers through his hair. âWell, Iâm not surprised,â he said. âWe should start a sign-up sheet for everyone who wants to spend time with you.â He grinned again. âI definitely wonât put a spell on it so no one else could sign up.â

She said that she heard and he let out a gentle laugh. âMan. I think Iâd be happy at one of those schools too.â He joked. Although it wasnât entirely true. He wasnât going out lately. The thought of someone slipping something else into his drink or just being around too many people right now was stressing him out. He could feel the hair on his neck stand as he thought about going to a party. Then, she questioned if heâd go to Rubyâs party and he swallowed. He wanted to say yes because it was normal for him to go to something like that. When she mentioned that sheâd go with him, he finally nodded his head. âIâd go. So long as you came too.â He said with a smile. Trusting that sheâd stay with him the entire time.Â
-
Caroline couldnât help but wrinkle her nose at the thought of going to a party school. âIt would be so loud,â she commented, putting a hand to her forehead at the mere thought. Her head would be constantly aching. She looked over at him, knowing him well enough that she had no need of reading his mind or his feelings. âYou donât have to,â she said softly. âIf youâre not ready yet. Thereâs nothing wrong with that. Iâd stay here with you, too.â She would do absolutely anything she had to do in order to protect Wren. She smiled a little. âIf you want,â she said. âI would stay with you the whole time.â

Closed starter for Maggie - @millicndreamsâ
As Nico stood in the arena, sweat dripping down his forehead, he couldnât help but feel grateful for Maggie âs help. She had been helping learn to control his scarab, and he was slowly getting the hang of it. Kinda. He looked over at Maggie, who was standing a few feet away from him, and asked, âYou can save my ass again, right? Cause thatâs like really high and what if the wings just stop you knowâŚworking?â he asked as he looked up at the platform he was supposed to fly to.
-
Maggie smiled faintly as Nico spoke, glancing up at the platform. âYes, I can catch you,â she said. She sent a tendril of chaos magic to waft around him like smoke, before directing it to bump gently against his shoulder, so that he could feel it had the potential to be solid. âYouâll be fine,â she told him, with a slight shrug. âOf all the times children have died here, I donât think any of them have died during a training episode.â She paused. âAt least, not so many. That I know of.â

Dimitry looked at his sister smirking softly âOf course it is, Iâm, so glad to know you agree with meâ he replied smugly before looking at her for a moment he had gotten plenty of unhealthy coping mechanisms since he died âWell what can I say, all the unhealthy things come naturally to me. Longevity seems like quite the boring life to live for on my mindâ He mused before chuckling softly âYou are just too old with your references Sister, lucky for you I had a great teacher too who forced me to enjoy them tooâ he teased her before rolling his eyes âthis isnât even dead animal skin, a mink would be worst in all honesty and you know itâ He mused smirking âHow sad, we really should attempt to do some sort of collaboration together and see what our mix powers can really do.â
Maggie snorted softly, shaking her head with a faint smile touching her lips. Her brother often drove her up the wall, but she of course couldnât deny that she was fond of him. Which certainly wasnât the same as admitting it upfront, but for Maggie, even forbearing to say she disliked him meant something. âYes, heaven forbid you actually live,â she said dryly. âWhat an odd way to live life, actually being alive. Imagine.â She raised her eyebrows. âMmm, yes, lucky for you,â she said. Maggie rolled her eyes as he spoke. âOh, yes, and where does leather come from? Do you think they pick a roll of leather from a tree branch to make a jacket for you?â She looked over at him, another smirk tugging at the corners of her mouth. âFrom your tone, I have the feeling that this is the very type of activity the CRP program was made for.â

âOkay, come on,â Zach said, leaning back in his chair as he looked over at Marâi, a grin playing over his lips. âYou canât just walk around looking that gorgeous. What is a poor lonely guy like me supposed to do, huh? Iâm gonna run out of air if I keep doing this.â He propped his chin in his hand and sighed dramatically, looking up at Marâi from underneath his eyelashes in a puppy-dog expression. He flashed her another grin as he looked up at her. âYou can always let me take you out to lunch, to make it up to me,â he said.â

âI know itâs not perfect, but I did follow the recipe this time.â Zach looked down at the casserole dish, a sort of bemused look on his face. He picked up the serving spoon and poked at the macaroni and cheese thoughtfully. âMaybe I should have added more bread crumbs to the top,â he said, and then shrugged, looking up at Wylder. âWell, letâs try it -- wait.â He dug out a couple of scoops, plopping them in a bowl, and then pushed the casserole dish toward his cousin, letting him have the remainder. âOkay, have at it. Try not to spray the cheese sauce everywhere.â â

âYouâd be late for your own funeral.â Peter smiled up at Martin as the other approached. He was sitting on a bench outside the library, where theyâd arranged to meet -- and yet here he was, twenty minutes later, scrolling through his phone. He stood up and tucked the phone into his pocket, grinning over at his old friend. âDid you forget about me?â he teased. âOh, wait -- let me guess, you were on the phone with your dad, right? I know he can talk your ear off.â He gave Martin another smile as he spoke. Oswald called him just about as often as his mom did.

âJohari smirked softly after all it was interesting to see and collaborate with others on things. She chuckled at the otherâs words âa super genius we could rule the world if only youâd let me take you on a rideâ She teased before nodding her head âah yes but should we make things easier on the populace when itâs already fairing a rather lazy style to began with? But I will admit that sometimes struggling to remember which cord controls the fan or the lightâ
Ginny wrinkled her nose. âYeah, no, Iâm good, thank you,â she said. âIf people were meant to fly, weâd be born with wings.â She paused, considering the student body. âOkay, more of us would be born with wings, you know what I mean.â She shrugged. âOkay, just me, then,â she said, flashing Johari a grin. âItâs not being lazy if I invented the damn thing, I had to go through the trouble of making it myself.â She thought about it. âNot that itâs hard for me, obviously, but I would probably have to get out of bed.â

âDonât just stand there, looking at me.â Maggie glanced over at him, a frown tugging at her lips. âWhat do you want?â She hated when people just hovered, standing there as if she had nothing better to do than to wait for them to speak. To be entirely honest, she had been so lost in her own thoughts that she really had no idea how long he was standing there -- but the fact that he was standing there at all was enough to irritate her. âIs there something I can help you with, or are you simply buffering?ââ

âItâs not that I donât care, itâs quite the opposite!â Perhaps she was a bit emotionally stunted. Growing up the way she did Ruby had internalized a lot and brushed things off as much as she could. âI just think something to take everyoneâs mind off and lift some spirits around here is just the thing we all need.âÂ
-
Caroline huffed softly as her sister spoke. She and Ruby had never really been on the same wavelength, but she knew Rubyâs heart was in the right place -- or close enough, anyway. âI know,â she said, her voice softening. She didnât want to fight with her right now. She shrugged. âYeah, maybe,â she said. âSo, just on a scale of one to ten, how likely is it that youâd show up that night at my dorm and ransack my closet for an outfit, and drag me out?â

âI know it doesnât make sense.â Zach grinned and shrugged. âIâm sure Zee could explain it better than I can, she probably knows all that deep mystical mumbo-jumbo, oogie-boogie kind of stuff.â He looked over at Zaiden and shrugged again, another grin pulling at the edges of his mouth. âTo be honest with you, Iâve never really thought about it. I know it doesnât sound very mystic of me, and I probably should learn more about it -- but doing magic is a whole hell of a lot more fun than reading about it, believe me.â

âYou should have seen it coming.â Twirling the janitorâs keyring around her finger, Vittoria glanced at Marâi, rolling her eyes a little. âI mean, for Godâs sake, he was standing right there for, like, sixty seconds. Who uses a public water fountain for that long? That water has to taste like swallowing nickels. Not to mention this school literally has a program dedicated to criminals. He should keep a better eye out.â She shrugged. âBesides, they probably donât even open the doors by themselves. I bet you have to punch in a twenty-digit code and sing the national anthem in Latin before you can get through a locked door around here.â
