Omg hi can I answer this? I know it's months late, I came to read a bunch of posts talking about class struggle and ran into this.

You said you've never seen proper Caitlyn criticism and I can safely say same. In fact I've only seen one other person who I agree with,,, I don't like her s2 writing. You'd think I was a fan with how much I find myself defending her.

I don't like her s2 because whether or not she gets redemption or not... It's not done well. They built up to episode 3 perfectly. Then they ruined it. I don't blame them because that season deserved to be 2 seasons, but I can't ignore it.

I wanted to see the arc they took forever to build to. I wanted a proper caitvi arc. The ending was super unsatisfying because how did we get here? What did they lose or sacrifice to get here?

The beauty about Arcane has always been the difficult decisions with terrible consequences. With caitvi, we missed the lowest point of their story and that ruined it for me. Btw, still a caitvi #1 fan don't get me wrong. Still a cait lover that's why I don't like what she ended up getting in s2. I still eat everything up though, because I fell in love with the characters up to episode 3, and some bits beyond.

I ALSO think Caitlyn and Jayce deserved their friendship acknowledged more than once but it's fineeee it's fineee.

There so basically tldr I don't like Caitlyn because I didn't see her be a terrible disgusting irredeemable yet pained desperate and guilty ASF character enough. Yippee.

Oh yeah edit: It's why I like the other characters, I see them make bad decisions I hate them for it yet love them for it and most of all it absolutely destroyed me to see them like that. That's what I wanted ohh I'll never forgive you Netflix, arcane writers, anyone idc I wanna see those six months🥲🥲🥲

Edit again: The season makes it look like she gets away with all of it. Whether she does or not is a different discussion that can only be answered by the writers room. But since we missed the entire arc we also don't see her facing real consequences? Permanent ones at least? She doesn't lose an eye for it, she loses an eye as the consequence to switching up again. See that's the type of thing I'm absolutely gobbling up. So?? Why not in arguably the most important arc of her story?

Everyone else suffers from every decision they make. Cait would be part of that too, if it wasn't for her "dictator" arc getting skipped. Hell, Ambessa suffered from that more than Cait did. Freaking Maddie, suffered more from that arc. You get me? Sorry if this is an unnecessary resurface of an old fix you forgot about but yeah oh well.

Maybe she doesn't have a redemption arc.

May be Arcane isn't about redemption.

May be Arcane is about flawed characters who are neither good nor bad.

May be Arcane is a show that shows us that good people can do horrible things and how our society and the people we have or don't have as support can shape that.

Good people can become horrible. Not because it is innate within them. But because of their life experiences.

This but it's video essays and I'm not editing I'm cleaning but all of a sudden all the video essays I saved sound uninteresting and they're too long but I can't use music it's not engaging enough for a cleaning activity.
