I don't understand, wasn't Mandalore part of the Republic before the Clone Wars? And if not, was it ever? I hope you read this and can help me. Thanks.

Okay, so like many things related to politics in Star Wars, we have a lot of details but also a lot of conflicting information. Different reference books will imply different things. Mandalore's history, in particular, is in a kind of static limbo because there was so much history that was established before The Clone Wars, then a lot that George Lucas established/retconned when he approved Satine's story, and then a lot that was retconned or reestablished after Disney declared that the Expanded Universe was "Legends" and that "Canon" could contradict what came before.

However, I actually think I can answer your question without any of that. Yes, Mandalore is a part of the Republic before/during the Clone Wars, and we know this from The Clone Wars itself.

Mandalore has a seat in the Senate. We see Satine in one of the Senate pods listening to a speech given by Padme in one episode, and we know that Tal Merrik is the Senator for Mandalore before he's revealed as a traitor.

In "Voyage of Temptation," Satine is at odds with the Senate and finds herself on the run from Republic forces. When Obi-Wan finds her, he tells her that she should turn herself into the authorities and the reason that he gives is, "We've both sworn a loyalty to the Republic." Satine does not deny this and says, "Believe me, neither one of us is breaking our oath."

The whole reason why the Jedi send Obi-Wan back to Mandalore in Season 2 is because the Senate is hearing rumors that Satine is building an army to fight for the Separatist cause. The Senate is able to exert pressure on Satine only because she is already in the Republic. She's not some free agent, and they want to ensure that she's not acting like one.

Satine leads the Council of Neutral Systems which is by definition made up of 2,000 Republic worlds (who all have seats in the Senate) who wish to remain neutral in the war. There's no way that those Republic worlds would authorize a non-Republic leader to be their primary representative.

I'm sure there are other things I could list, but off the top of my head, those are the biggest pieces of evidence for why Mandalore is indeed a member of the Republic before/during the Clone Wars.

Duchess Satine was different...

● Satine, who argues with Obi-Wan about the rights of the clones and says that she is ready to give them political asylum in case they refuse to participate in the war, since each of them is a Mandalorian and a member of her people.

● Satine, who needs her father's help, but looks in the mirror, because all she has left of him is herself.

● Satine, who oversees orphanages on Mandalore and personally attends the children's concerts, bringing gifts with her, because no one is better than her knows what it's like to be left alone with the world without a family.

● Satine, who cries on the sidelines, watching Qui-Gon Jinn being buried.

● Satine, who secretly watches holo-news from the clone's war front because she's worried about Obi-Wan.

● Satine, who calls Ahsoka nothing less than "young Jedi Master" because she knows that's important to her.

● Satine, who calls General Kenobi to Mandalore for an emergency - and that emergency turns out to be the need to spend one evening together.

● Satine, who switches the firing mode on her blaster to "stun" because she does not want to hurt anyone, even in self-defense.

● Satine, who believed in peace so much and loved it so much that she didn't even think about running away, knowing that they were going to crucify her.

● Satine, who kept the peace on Mandalore for 20 years, but everyone forgot about this.

I made this sketch for a roleplaying episode where Satine, resurrected after 20-30 years by the will of the Force, meets Boba Fett, who now rules Mandalore.

Even though I like this art, I regret making it for this roleplaying episode, because the Boba Fett player ended up bullying me when I refused to make Satine his advisor because his policies were quite violent. I had to quit the game because he was constantly picking on me and even put arsenic in Satine's coffee.

I'm not sure that the canon Boba Fett was such a maniac and toxic person, but the project administration didn't care :(

Love Story

I think Briar comes from a fairly atypical family when it comes to destiny, despite what most people think.

Her parents Queen Damascena and King Valor were never meant to fall in love, seeing as Damascena was supposed to be the next hundred year sleep in the era of Class of Classics. Despite the looming promise of a prince not even born yet, she fell head over heels for star dragon-slayer Valor Prince-Charming instead. Something which was highly discouraged if not totally forbidden for the sake of her story.

They planned to run away together, but when things started to go wrong during their Legacy Year, Damascena’s curse kicked in prematurely due to an imbalance of magic in Ever After. She was only in enchanted sleep for one horrible afternoon before Valor woke her again with a true love’s kiss. Something that was unheard of if not completely impossible. They immediately fled back to the Kingdom of Roses without bothering to graduate and got married as teenagers.

Damascena is pretty fragile due to her narcolepsy so she doesn’t tend to leave her kingdom much, but her genes are strong as is her desire for a large family and a full castle. She loves her children and husband more than anything, and is an excellent mother and partner. Valor is still strapping and handsome, protective of his wife and family as well as their kingdom which they rule as a pair. He’s long since retired from dragon slaying after an accident which gave him the scars on his face, but he is passing his wisdom onto his sons so they can grow up to be impressive, noble, heroic princes.

Valor is close with Tenacity, Briar’s former brother turned Princess, who is still fully his greatest pride despite being a daughter rather than a son. Briar and Damascena are also close and they communicate regularly about happenings around Ever After. Briar doesn’t tend to mention her parents much in conversation because they’re a private bunch, mainly due to their somewhat unusual outlook on destiny and lifestyle at home, but also Damascena and Valor’s distaste for Queen Snow White and Headmaster Grimm.

I have long had the idea in my head to draw Nora in the happily ever after universe. I have the idea that in reality her parents live in the happily ever after world and in her youth she crossed over to the human world to find her destiny there.

For the record, these two have a daughter... (They actually exist in one of the millions of universes and have no plot overlap with canon, so it's okay) Her name is Morgan Maria. The first name was chosen by Tony because he once dreamed that he had a daughter named Morgan (according to the canon of the second Doctor Strange film, dreams are visions of other versions of themselves living in parallel worlds), and the second name was suggested by Ramana, after Tony's mother, Maria °^°

Morgan was actually a very desired and long-awaited child, because Ramana could not get pregnant, neither with the help of IVF, nor naturally. They had to ask for the blessing of Tony's mother, since Frigga still patronizes marriage and childbirth, before they finally had a daughter.

Nobody here knows that I'm a huge fan of Marvel and Tony Stark in particular.Yes, I have an OC/Canon pairing with him, and it helped my character develop like crazy (this is the first time she liked a man so much that she agreed to start a family with him haha).Basically, Tony Stark, genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist and superhero and Ramana Riedel, aristocrat, sorceress, professor of archeology and master of mystical artifacts.There is only a 5 year difference between them. The strongest couple on the continent 💖
