When Life Gives You Lemons . .

USE IT TO MAKE THE BEST GOTDXMN LEMONADE !!! or a banana Lemon smoothie it's pretty good too . .

Most of us have used and heard the phrase "when life gives you lemons you make lemonade"; meaning even when something bad happens try to make the best of the situation.

Well 2021 has been full of Lemons being handed to me time after time again. I've laughed plenty, but cried even more ! Relationships were tested many have failed, but the most meaningful ones made it pass. I've connected with my own little family and myself on a higher level and am able to understand and view things differently, because of these experiences. 2021 has brought me to realize "Your perception of how you see a situation is completely upon you", whether you believe it or not ! That trigger that's telling you to get mad (that’s you) , that joy you feel when you’re happy (that’s all you & you deserve it). Some how though we choose to ignore that one fact & BOOM we now have a whole new chain of adventures. At the end of the day that perception is yours and sometimes it is best to leave it as is and NOT change it for anyone. I've lended hands I don't want back and giving energy that could never be reciprocated. Yet, the biggest lemon handed to me was losing relationships I never thought I would never have to pick and choose from. This along sent me into deeper depressions than I could have put into words and led to me choosing my time away from writing, social media & at one point it felt like I had shut off from the world. I was left with the question of whether I only seen things how I wanted to or if I had to finally choose me over others. The thing about this lemon was it was more bitter than sour. It took me through a deep dive mentally and emotionally. Which led me to questioning Had I been overly emotional ? or Was my response more valid than I thought. I lost more family over the course of this experience, but I connected closer within my own household so was this something that needed to happen ?

Before I could get to the root of the problem within the next person or myself I had to acknowledge that one thing I’ve done in this life time is change my emotions & throw them to the side for others and their feelings . I had always seen how the next person may feel, but never considered my own happiness. This time and moment would be the turning point for me. After much needed time of prayer, reevaluation and removing more than saving of relationships ! I picked my own happiness and peace . The girl who once made everybody else's lemons in to lemonade finally decided to pour up her own glass "Freshly Squeezed". I know that some won't be happy with my decisions or response, but I'm finally choosing to Pick me and I encourage everyone to do the same. Today's Lemon can be tomorrow's cup of Lemonade, but you have to choose no matter how hard that decision may be & I strongly encourage choosing YOU even if it's over me !!

Kyleigh Taught Me !

On a day like today that just seemed so normal who knew I would learn a lesson from a little lady who’s only 3 .

Just as any other day this one started off just as normal as the last ! I got up did morning routines and decided to set up for work a little early. That’s when my three yr old Daughter Kyleigh (Ky) came and stood beside me as I began to login. She had a small princess doll (with silky blonde hair and blue eyes) in her hands and as she always does she stated how she wants to be a princess. Me being mommy I let her know you are a Princess KY, but what she replied broke my heart. She told me that she was actually not a princess because princess have silky hair and that her hair was ugly and not like hers. I let her know that he hair was beautiful and I loved it just the way it was. I went on to show her different visualizations; like pictures of little black girls with twist , puffs balls, beautiful melanin skin and crown and her only reply was “You hate your hair”. Not surprised at the response, because we raise her to be aware and pay attention, but in this moment I noticed I had to make a change, because somewhere along the lines I had dropped the ball with this situation. I found my prettiest heels and twist my entire head of hair exactly like hers [including leaving out a top left puff ball to match her exact style at the moment] and we walked around the house saying how we were princesses and how beautiful we looked to each other in our heels. She smiled from ear to ear and in that moment I knew Mommy was not only a Queen, but a Super hero to Princess Ky ! This was the light of my day.

Moral of the story:

You have to Practice what you preach ! I’m not saying I can’t dress up and wear my hair how I want from time to time, but I do Want to be a better representation for my child as a Young black Girl. I had not noticed how I would take my hair down and complain as if my natural hair was so annoying to manage to the point my little one had picked up on the trait. What we feed into the minds of our babies start at home and sometimes we aren’t intentionally trying to teach them these traits, but we have subconsciously and we have to right does wrong within ourselves so that we can now have that same energy and trait flow into our kids. I didn’t care for my own natural hair which caused my child to almost miss the beauty in hers, but today we got it right .!

PLEASE REMIND OUR LITTLE PRINCESSES

(THAT THEY ARE INDEED MAGIC & THE HAIR THEY ARE BORN WITH IS JUST AS BEAUTIFUL & EVERY GIRL DESERVES TO GROW UP FEELING LIKE THE PRINCESS THAT THEY ARE)

Things I taught myself about Dating that should’ve been common sense!

As I've lived and loved in the this wonderful life time of mines , every love story has left me with a few lessons. Some of which I do believe should have been brought to my attention sooner in life rather than later. Most of these are easy to say , but yet so hard to do at one point.

              THE LIST THAT KEEPS GROWING :  

Date at whatever time in your life that you feel is comfortable . (20s 30s.40s . . . Your Choice!!)

Do it how you want regardless of the worlds expectations.

While dating ALWAYS choose your mental health and your happiness over all .

Stop letting what you see become so far more ideal to you than actually creating your own  healthy relationship .

It’s not all about you (yahhh , this one killed me forreal )

Treat others EXACTLYYYY how you would want to me treated. NO BRAINER rightttt lol

Understanding (Good Communication) is key . Very clutch

Be your Partners escape & less of the enemy !

Men have emotions . . & this was a game changer, because at one point I had my mind made up they were all emotionless .

NEVERRR go to sleep mad . Like EVERRRRR

Loyalty Over Love

MEN love and appreciate "just because" gifts too chillee you not the only one who wants to be spoiled lol

At this point in my life I’m steady growing or learning something new & I stop myself like; really trice you should’ve been knew that. . Well, I’ll just end this by saying this nurturing Cancer can have a pretty think head & zero understanding until she wants to understand , but I’m changing guys lol ! Bare with me.
