Here's the Minecraft Parody Lyrics
My best friend once showed me the blocky world of MinecraftIt sure was a pretty interesting gameIt was looking kind of cool when I spawned in this worldOn a beach with some trees and some pigs
Well the mobs start spawning and they don't stop spawningMy sword just broke so I have to start runningWouldn't be good just to die for nothingI keep my stuff but my health goes downSo much to craft, so much to buildSo what's wrong with being the new guyYou'll never know if you don't craftYou'll never shine if you don't mine
Hey now this is Minecraft, get your pickaxe, go mineHey now you're in Minecraft get your sword out and fightI just settle for coalAnd I'll shoot my bow to kill the monsters
It's a cool game and they say it gets coolerYou're worthless now but wait 'til you get diamondsBut I have to mine to the bottomWhere thers a danger of falling into lavaIm digging deep, past a dungeonIve got some diamonds and ill make a tool. This pick is awesome, Its mine not yoursI'm gonna keep mining and I'll never get bored
Hey now this is Minecraft, get your pickaxe, go mineHey now you're in Minecraft get your sword out and fighteI would settle for goldAnd I'll shoot my bow to kill the monsters
Hey now this is Minecraft, get your pickaxe, go mineHey now you're in Minecraft get your sword out and fightI won't settle for gold! And I'll shoot my bow
My friend went and told me, that he had made a portalThat we're gonna make a trip to the netherI said sure, lets go nowI could make armor to protect myself,I wouldn't wanna get killed by a blaze
Well, the days keep coming and we don't stop playingI've got a whole set of enchanted diamond armorThe next mission is to kill the ender dragonI've found the portal and I'm ready to jumpSo much to kill, so much to buildI've just shot the dragon, horray for meI've just completed the gameIt's your go have a good time
Hey now, this is minecraft, get your pickaxe, go mineHey now, your is minecraft, get your sword out and fightWe won't settle for goldAnd I'll shoot my bow to kill the monsters
There's always more to exploreShare it with your friends, this awesome game!

Minecraft 1.3 to feature Server-side mod support
In the words of Futurama's Professor Farnsworth, "Good news everyone!". In an interview with GameOn, Markus Persson (@Notch) and Jens Bergensten (@Jeb_) confirm that Minecraft 1.3 will not be released until it has mod support that is on-par with the Bukkit project. This means that the current ongoing upgrade of CraftBukkit to match Minecraft 1.2's features will likely be the last. It's a huge boon for Minecraft hosts too, taking the strain of support and allowing them to offer an even better Minecraft free trial. Here's the part of the interview with the announcement:
Also of note is that following the 1.3 update, Mojang and Bukkit will start work on client-side mod support. This will let mod creators produce the kind of functionality seen in alternative Minecraft modding platforms, like the popular Spout. I look forward to official client-server mods that will significantly expand what Minecraft will be capable of.

CraftBukkit 1.2.3 beta release
Upgrading to Minecraft Server Hosting 1.2 means that players wanting to play with the new features must do so at the cost of dropping plugin support. Swapping their CraftBukkit server JAR for the official release, waiting until the Bukkit team release a new CraftBukkt.
https://getfile3.posterous.com/getfile/files.posterous.com/minecraft-hosting-...
It looks as though the wait shouldn't be as long this time. Bukkit have already announced a CraftBukkit 1.2.3-R0.1 beta version. It's not quite a recommended build, there's no guarantee that your favourite plugins will work, there may be some minor bugs left in. The combination of the Bukkit API having had a code cleanup and all the fundamental changes between Minecraft 1.1 and 1.2 means that a lot of plugins will need some work doing on them too. This beta release should help all those plugin developers get up to speed, getting all those fixes ready for the first reccommended build.
We should be seeing CraftBukkit 1.2 servers running much sooner than expected. The new Mojang-Bukkit partnership seems to have had an effect.

Minecraft 1.2 Features shown off, Rube Goldberg style
Replace 'Rube Goldberg' with 'Heath Robinson' if you're Hosting Minecraft 1.2 UK style.
Minecraft 1.2 is being released proper today, although you could have grabbed the pre-release yesterday. Want to know what's new? Here's a quick video by Generikb (The Minecraft Hermit) that shows it all off in one big contraption:
It's also nice to know that even drum and bass sounds better in an 8-bit mix.

Mojang enlist the aid of Bukkit to improve Minecraft mod support
Being a Minecraft Bukkit hosting admin I always feel ambivalent when a new Minecraft version is on the way. There's the excitement about all the new features but also the worry about lead time between the official release and the matching Bukkit. Players update to play with all the new toys but can no longer connect to Bukkit servers. The shift to Minecraft 1.2 is going to be especially challenging as it has a huge gameplay change with the doubling of the world height, new AI, and new mobs.
But in the future that will change. Mojang always wanted an official API and their internal attempts have been largely fruitless. They lack the experience and skilled individuals with the spare time to do the job. While Minecraft's current steward, Jens Bergensten (@Jeb_), is capable of doing the work, he can't create add new things to the game and build an API. So Mojang has decided to hire the Bukkit team to build the API for Minecraft. Warren Loo (@EvilSeph) tells how long this has been in the making in this Bukkit Forum post:
Our meeting at Minecon was just the beginning and after having flown us out to Stockholm to get to know each other, it was clear that the potential to do truly great things together was there and we were eager to explore it. After all, we had already been given a direct line to the Minecraft team, the source code and were actively providing Mojang with (exploit) patches and improvements. The next logical step was to figure out the best way to continue working together, perhaps in a more official and intimate capacity. After careful and lengthy consideration, the best course of action became clear. My team and I had already achieved what we wanted to when we started the Bukkit project: provide server admins with the means to easily customise and run their server and provide developers with an easy to use, properly designed API to bring their insane and cool ideas to life. The next obvious step was to make it more official and with news breaking out that Mojang was interested in developing an official Minecraft API, we knew just how to do that.
and
Now that we have an opportunity to design the official Minecraft API, we intend to make it a suitable replacement for Bukkit, if not a significantly better one, while bukkit.org will remain a community for modders for the foreseeable future.
Jen Bergensten made the announcement in the Mojang Blog:
The plan is to build a fresh server API, and then extend it to support client-side modding (in one way or another). We will try to make it easy for bukkit users to convert if they wish to do so, but backwards compatibility is not guaranteed. We will, however, help bukkit to be compatible with 1.2, to avoid having a long gap while you wait for the official Minecraft server to catch up.
Many of you may ask why we decided to work with bukkit instead of other Minecraft teams, such as Spout or Forge. The reason is that we want more than just modding, and these guys have always had server admins in mind when developing their additions to the game. We hope that this will help the quality of Minecraft multi-player to improve, both for large and private family servers, while still being able to add fun stuff for the bigger audience.
This incredible news should mean that eventually there will be no more waiting for plugin support to catch up with the official release. Server admins will find updates to get smoother in the future.

Evil Wolfo Shocker, blamed for Minecraft Grief
Here's the art of griefing, Blame it on the Wolf!
You have to respect the ying & yang of Minecraft, one group comes and builds another one ahnilates it for the crack... I've come to realise you need both sides in Minecraft. As irritating as it is for server owners, it's just a part of running your own server. This is where the game of cat and mouse comes into to it… Every time you get griefed you learn to protect yourself, working out dastardly plans to catch griefers in the action.
Griefers don't like worlds where the owner can fix the griefs really quickly, rolling back all the fun they had whilst the admins and owners were sleeping or in class.
At Sticky Piston Minecraft Hosting UK we take the art of griefing very seriously. Here's our solution:
Find a host who maintains daily backups… hmmm like us.
Install essentials group manager so any griefers end up in the guest group and can not build
protect your spawn point with a world protect plugin like regios, worldguard or precious stones.
Install LogBlock, this allows you to log every change on the server and roll it back by player or area
Taking these steps will make you less of a target.
Really, the wolf can spell, btw the guys are fixing not griefing…
Stay Crafty,
David (eonic)

Hello! In the following tutorial, I will be showing you how to create an idiot-proof Cobblestone Generator, useful for, well, generating Cobblestone!
Firstly, you’re going to need a shovel, a pickaxe, 1 block of ice and a bucket of lava. That’s all!
Secondly, dig a 1x4 hole in the ground,...

Check out this cool build, I was stunned by this one when looking around tumblr this morning. Well I'm off to play on this map now… It's 100x better in real life. Then it's back to work doing some support at Sticky Piston Minecraft Servers UK
“The original renders can be found here. This all has been made using survival mode, with the only exclusions being: Godmode enabled, indestructible tools and quick-teleport navigation using compass for travelling through the Skylands world.
If you like you can visit this project on our (Dutch) server, the IP is “tweakcraft.net”. The project can be found using “/warp heaven”, help can be found at “/warp portaal”. :)”

The arena is finished. 99% legit. The only things that aren’t are some spawners (behind the netherbrick) since mini-mob farms weren’t working at all, and some finishing touches on the huge tower.
Eventually, I wanna get a video up of a battle going on in it….there hasn’t been any yet!!
