I just finished Posted and holy shit I cried the entire night. If I had to sum it up on how the ending felt, well, one the fact Wolf had to move schools (he’s still friends with them though) punched me in the heart, two the fact Bench has moved on made me deny that even happened, three Frost listing the possibility on how the tribe might lose itself made me cry the most. So basically this book is a whole bait line for you to get attached to the characters and then it tears you apart by telling you that one friend, FROST’S FRIST FRIEND, is drifting away. I literally made a whole rewrite on how the Frost and Bench shouting near the end should’ve happened (basically Forst crying and blaming himself and saying that he understands Bench but also wants Bench to stay because he was Frost’s first friend and how Frost misses him) I kind of feel like the reason why everything happened is because of the notes, Rose (I don’t blame her yet I do at the same time, I don’t hate her but I’ll just pretend she never came and joined their group so the tribe can just be the tribe), and Bench finally winning in a game. What also made me cry was because Bench didn’t really feel liked he belonged in the tribe, him not liking DND, him saying (in the heat of the moment) that Deedee should grow up and lose the dice he always carries around, how Bench never liked his nickname, and how Bench said “Wanted” when referring to being with the tribe. I don’t blame Bench for feeling like this, but I obviously want him to stay with the tribe, that’s what made me cry the most. Sorry for this rant, I’m still crying right now (Also it’s 12:00am in the Philippines when I’m writing this, I finished the book at 10:00pm btw), but to give a rating on this book, it would be a 8/10. Eight points for story, writing, characters, conflict, and other things I liked about it. Two less points because it made me cry and made me feel depressed because of all the drifting away and serious moments (like holy shit). Drift Away from Steven Universe the movie also sums it up, well what Frost feels (or should’ve, istg another one of my criticisms is that JDA should’ve added a scene where instead of Frost feeling depressed about the whole thing and making me depressed too, Frost crying cause holy shit I wanted one so badly even though that would make me cry hard too)

Posted is currently making me think about everything of what’s happening with these little characters, Bench earning fame, Wolf getting worried for the friendship of their group, Rose’s issue with getting friends and why she asked Frost if he wants her to stop hanging out with the table since Bench is straying away from the group because of her. The book gives me this sense of dread and depression and anxiety of losing a friend, and I love it.

John David Anderson does that a lot 💔

I think every single one of his books have a much more depressing tone than Gordon Korman books

here’s the big ass note I’ve been using to keep track of the book

Frost’s real name is Eric Voss (poet)

When playing dnd with Deedee, he’s the elvish thief who likes stabbing people’s backs. Likes to wear a Detroit ball hat everyday of school. Parents are divorced, stays with his mom because he loves her

I headcanon that Frost has hair that is black but then has white dyed longs bangs and has a white Green Day shirt because…Green Day, basket case is his favorite. Average height in the group. ACNE, RAHHHH. Transgender, cause,,,,yes. Autistic cause representation. Gay, only talks about girls with the group to complain about them. Likes Wolf, and I don’t mean just in a friend way. Weezer and the Foo Fighters lover too but more into Green Day of course. Watches the Big Bang with Deedee while waiting for Bench and Wold to show up

Bench’s real name is Jeremiah Jones (a kind jock who always gets benched but doesn’t complain) taller than frost by 1 inch 

When playing dnd with Deedee, he’s the hulking barbarian with too many swords. Has black hair. He still acts like a jock, all meaty and shit, but at least he doesn’t bully you (he does care about his reputation, so if a certain new student he’s not friends with unlike Frost, Deedee, and Wold is getting called “Moose” and is now sitting with the group because Wolf invited her even though Frost, Deedee, and Bench didn’t want her to sit there with them because they’ve been best friends since 5/6th grade, he will not even lunch until that new student isn’t sitting with them) was able to win a game the first time he was off the bench

I headcanon him to have red hair instead, white but with vitiligo, blue varsity jacket, MAN TITS, earrings, black shirt with white star in the middle, dark blue bell bottom jeans also with white star patterns, converse shoes. TALLEST GUY IN THE GROUP.

Deedee is Advik Patel (canonically Indian, has black hair, and likes dnd, Tolkien, Harry Potter, Gary Gyrax) shorter than frost by 2 inches. He’s the dungeon master. He has an IQ of 136

I headcanon that he likes the color green and has a green cape that he always wears. Obviously the shortest. Also likes Elden Ring and The Legend Of Zelda, has big square glasses, a silent princess flower from BOTW/TOTK sweater and blue baggy jeans with simple algebra symbols. Buck teeth cause yes. Straight ally. LIKES POKEMON BECAUSE I LOVE POKEMON TOO, RAHHHH. His favorite Pokemon is probably Gourdon, and his favorite game is gen 3, which is Ruby and Sapphire. Owns a 3DS cause I do too. LIKES THE BIG BANG, will “Bazinga” in your ear.

Wolf’s real name is Morgan Thompson (he canonically has blond hair) when playing dnd with Deedee he’s the bard (also because he actually plays the piano and has recitals) he doesn’t really look wolfish, maybe starved-wolf-who-doesn’t-get-out-of-the-cave-much. He has lanky limbs, freckles on his checks that looks like constellations, and his blond hair always gets in his eyes. He’s been playing piano since he was 5, mostly classical and some jazz. Doesn’t liked to be touched. The only one to invite Rose to the table even though everyone else didn’t want her to sit with them. Literally shared everything to Rose, and yet he’s the one the whole friend group can’t tell what he’s thinking. If Rose hugs him, he’s fine, if anyone else does, he’ll get immediately uncomfortable.

I headcanon him to be black and blond dreads, Grey hoodie with piano patterns. Second tallest of the group, bisexual and asexual.

Not apart of the group/tribe

Rose Holland. She’s new, taller than Frost, muscular. Frizzled light brown hair, hanging over her face like a veil. Dark jeans and a black sweater. Boots. She can do origami. Gets called Moose as an insult. Tells secrets to Wolf. She’s a rule bender, when playing dnd with Frost, Wolf, and Deedee. She held Deedee’s hand (and he never got a girl to hold his hand) to make him say to her playing because he wouldn’t let her

I headcanon that she has dyed hair, from Brown to light sky blue or some shit. Medium  wavy hair. Uhhhh white smiley face. Lesbian, probably.

I’ve only read about, six chapters of Posted and it’s safe to say Wolf is my favorite 😦 which is crazy because everytime I pick up a book it’s always the MAIN MAIN character I always love (like Chase, Jett, Evan, Cooper, Lincoln, and Carter from GK books) not just a main character that’s in the main main character’s group (I hope I explained it well lmao 🙏🙏🙏) Frost is my second favorite though hehheheh

Okay, well he's obviously kinda quiet since he's the biggest bullying target.

He's noted to be the only member of the chess team and eats alone.

After Capricorn begins gaining popularity, it's pretty clear he's the jealous type. And he can also be selfish, which might come from his lack of friends throughout the years

Despite being a victim his whole life, he was willing to hurt his friend even though he said early on in the book he wouldn't stoop so low. So I think his moral code isn't really locked down.

There were also sex jokes in Ungifted and Operation Do-Over!

The characters in Pop are in high school (ages 16-17) so there's no question what they're talking about. Some of these aren't even jokes, it's just saying they wanna have sex

Ungifted has a plot point around Sex Ed so... there's that (first two are from the POV of a teacher; third is from the POV of Donovan (a student))

And Operation Do-Over is basically revolved around having a crush. I don't have access to the online book rn so when I do, I'll edit this post.
