In your Flower Fungal AU, how do all the characters look like? What changed with their designs?? We know our poor boy Cesar lost his leg, and Jonah is...not doing so good, so how do they + the rest of the cast look like?

- The Characters -

- The Survivors -

Sarah Heathcliff was by herself at the BPS base when the infection started. One of her coworkers had attacked her, causing her to flee. She had kept her brother's pistol with her as a just in case. When she fled, she ran into Cesar.

Cesar Torres is an alternate (obviously). He was attacked by Mark Heathcliff and left behind by Lucifer and Stanley, leaving him to die. Fortunately, Sarah found him. And as much as she hates him, she kinda needs him alive. It's unknown why, maybe a motive? Cesar, although wounded, can be a bit of an asshole. However, he tries his best not to give Sarah M.A.D.. She did save his life, after all.

Adam Murray is also an alternate. He lives in the Mandela County Police Department with Thatcher. Considering he's pretty immune (perhaps from being a new species of alternate) to the fungi, he puts himself in danger a lot. He's too far gone in the loss of Jonah to care about himself. He's either protecting Thatcher from harm or sitting next to Jonah's cell.

Thatcher Davis is the main reason Adam is still kind of sane. As much as Adam protects him, he makes sure Adam's not bleeding out of has gotten food or rest. He treats Adam like his son, and will force food down the alternate's throat regardless if Adam protests or not.

Evelin Miller is currently trapped in Mandela Tech. She was attacked by Dave Lee and forced into a store with no food or water. She is dying, she doesn't have much time left.

- The Infected -

Jonah Marshall is being held captive in a Mandela County Police Department cell. They have some cognitive functions, being able to think and feel. They're not completely gone, however rage has taken up most of their brain power. Especially when Adam's always around them. They can't speak properly but they can make noises. They tend to scratch at Adam a lot, though they do not do so to anyone else. Pretty passive except when Adam's around.

Mark Heathcliff is very passive. It's unknown if he thinks or feels, he kinda just stares a lot. He tore off Cesar's leg as revenge, and hasn't attacked him since. He keeps his distance, though watches mostly Sarah from afar. He doesn't speak or make noises, his vocal cords long decomposed. However, he can click his jaw. That's how you know when he's near. The flowers corrupting his legs cause him to move slower than normal infected.

Dave Lee is in front of Mandela Tech, keeping Evelin inside. He can speak, most of the time he's taunting Evelin or calling for her in desperate mockery. He sometimes wears his sunglasses, as it brings his melted brain a sort of comforting nostalgia. He's completely numb, there are more flowers inside him then there are on the outside. He was around when Thatcher killed Ruth, to which he attacked Thatcher in response. Maybe he felt her pain? Watching one of his best friends kill his other best friend while he was mentally deteriorating.

- The Others -

Lucifer and Stanley are hidden, it is unknown what they look like or if they are even still alive. The survivors hope to God they are dead. Lucifer is not an alternate, he can get infected.

I just love this person’s dedication to studying some fiction beings it’s genuinely amazing.

this is sumn i wanna talk about too in terms of alternates and what ive studied on them.

unfortunately a lot of what alex has said is like.. nowhere to be found nor is it brought up in any discussion regarding alternates. most info just straight up blew away in the wind, got deleted previously, or straight up disappeared after the stupid drama. its a lil frustrating bc i do not know what counts as canon or not anymore or whats just lost info.

that being said im gonna treat this as fact even tho idk where this info went either. (ty for bringin it up!)

a lot of things i want to know about alternates would 100% be incomprehensible. if i was in that universe trying to study them as, say, a species of animal, i couldnt get too far without hitting major road blocks. bc theyre not animals. idek if they can even be fully classified as demons despite the religious aspect to the series.

alternates might not have true forms that we know of, but in my N art post i need to acknowledge humans can see and even interact with alternates physically. what their forms look like before attempting to mimic human anatomy might not even be a FORM- but an IDEA of one. they might not even exist until a human creates that fear or thought. even then, despite attempting to copy entirely different humans.. theres a lot of similarities in each alternate and how they move too. N, adam in mandela catalyst, alt! thatcher all traverse in nearly identical ways when it comes to their skin stretching or moving

we see tulpas. we see alternates form in mirrors and crawl out of tvs. from what we know, theyre literally just manipulated ideas from children or potentially other vulnerable people. they might not even have a form until a person creates one for them. what they could be outside of that ill never understand until alex somehow clears it in tmc bc, unfortunately, im not there to pick and prod at an alternate about their 'biology'

they do work heavily in technology as well because im also inclined to believe thats their only form of communicating and adapting to humans on a much faster scale. Ofc theyre on a whole different dimensional plane than us- but they also need to learn. they need to adapt to our many different languages, voices, accents, dialect. N only started speaking because he began to mimic thatcher's voice- thus adapting to the language (even then as N seems to deterioate in vol 5. he seemingly loses this skill and can only make incomprehensible noises that got to jude anyways).

the internet and our technology is most likely their best bet, and first step, into becoming a reality. otherwise they cant even communicate to humans and work more efficiently as alternates. as we saw in the recent cognito hazard- they still seem to struggle at the expanse of the internet as well. (though the alternate talking to addison mightve also just given up typing coherently since it already pulled her into an emotional trap for M.A.D and saw no need to talk as effectively as before).
