The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy is making think about Deltarune
Some heavy spoilers for Last Defense Academy
I mentioned recently the idea that each Secret Boss is gonna be associated with an amusement park ride. I also brought up that the idea that the Secret Bosses will narratively parallel members of the party. For example: Spamton has roller coasters and parallels Kris and Berdly.
With Jevil, that amusement park ride is the merry-go-round.
Jevil: "PIIP PIIP, LET'S RIDE THE CAROUSEL GAME."
And the person that Jevil most narratively parallels imo, is us, the Players. Jevil sees the world as a game and ends up in a cage. Deltarune is a game to us, and we end up getting thrown in the bird cage.
I'm not quite sure if there's a particular meaning to each individual carnival ride, but I've been playing through The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy, and it does provide a meaning to "merry-go-round" that feels highly applicable to Deltarune/Undertale and our role in it. Nothing super deep, plenty of people probably made the connection without it being spelled out, but since Last Defense Academy was kind enough to spell it out, I felt possessed to talk about it.
So brief synopsis of Last Defense Academy, a bunch of teenagers with superpowers get trapped in a school and have to fight a war for 100 days. Part of the main character's abilities is the limited power to turn back time, allowing you to reset battles or redo an attempt at persuading someone.
Over the course of the 100 days, about half of them are killed and the ultimate goal of the heroes is foiled by a traitor. Killing the traitor and absorbing his power gives the MC a significant power boost. His ability to reset time is strengthened enough to take him back to the beginning of the 100 days. The hero travels back to day 2 to try and get the happy ending they failed to get the first time, but what actually happens is he enters into a time loop trying different options and reaching different endings without being aware of it (every time he thinks its the first time he traveled back).
When you reach one of the 100 endings in the time loop, this credit song plays. Give it a listen, if not for how good it is, its lyrics feel oddly appropriate for UT/DR.
youtube
"The days repeat, round and round like a carousel"
The song as a whole compares the experience of being in a time loop to being stuck on a carousel.
The idea of resetting everything so that the days repeat is important to UT/DR. Undertale more so. Undertale is pretty explicit about the idea that as a Player, we hold the ability to reset the world at our whim. Forcing the world to experience a time loop without even being aware of it.
Jevil: "WHO KEEPS SPINNING THE WORLD AROUND?"
The answer? We do. When we stick the world back onto the carousel.
Well that's one possibility for what Toby's going for. Maybe Roller Coaster has some meaning about ups and downs. Maybe I'm overthinking it. But listening to Carousel on repeat got the thought stuck in my head.
(Why is it that I keep playing something that scratches a similar itch to Deltarune whenever a new chapter is released? I was playing the Switch Undertale version when Chapter 1 came out. I played Omori when Chapter 2 came out. Now Last Defense Academy comes out so close to Chapter 3+4's release. Gonna be painful to put this one down to play Chapter 3+4 when they come out Wednesday. It is really good. Go play it)

Deltarune: A note about cat names.
I want to shout-out this guy's theory real quick. I realized somethign about the idea that Catti and the FRIEND having connections.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Deltarune/comments/1kk5xza/comment/mrv8lzk/?context=3
I don't necessarily agree with everything in it. But for one, he mentions how Queen references Mettaton EX so I immediately like him. But I thought more about something he said, and something clicked on my drive home today.
Part of his theory is that "Mike" is the name of the FRIEND, and that the name is actually pronounced "Mi-ke" (mee keh) for reasons he explains. And that he is indeed a cat.
Now here's the thing. If that's true, then every named character who is a cat (i.e. Catti, Catty, Seam and Mike) have names that deliberately misleading about how they're pronounced because of the way they're spelled.
Seam sounds like Sean, but from the way it's spelled, the way Seam looks and that Seam feels the need to spell out how their name is pronounced, I believe you are meant to think it pronounced like seam, as in the sewing term.
Catti and Catty on the other hand... do we know if their names are meant to be pronounced the same or differently?
Bonus Note so I don't have to make another post:
This line from Catti and Catty's dad takes on a different meaning if Mike is supposed to be a cat and the "big shot" who lived in Kris's room in the mansion:
Suddenly, it's another cat connection.
Next week can't come soon enough. Something else will come along and drive me up a wall in the next few days. I know it.

Toby updated the Trailer
youtube
Why'd you replace the Cat Mini-game clip, Toby? Why are you being so Secretive about it now? You already let the cat out of the bag about the control scheme. Why Toby? Why? Why replace it with Virovirokun? Why with a Chapter 2 in between two Chapter 3 clips? WHY?!
He's doing this on purpose to mess with us.
Go watch it on YouTube, don't watch it here.

Deltarune Secret Bosses: Carnival of the Animal Pt 2
Pt. 1:
https://www.tumblr.com/minunwithacannon/784461980690989056/deltarune-secret-bosses-carnival-of-the-animals?source=share
Pt. 1 addendum:
https://www.tumblr.com/minunwithacannon/784824420835393536/deltarune-secret-bosses-carnival-of-the-animals?source=share
Last time I talked about how Spamton and Jevil share animal motifs with the Lightners. But there's one more common motif the Secret Bosses and Lightners share. Let's talk about Berdly and Spamton again. I noted how they shared ideas about "bluebird" and "puppet" but they also share something important about their location.
Both of them are fought on roller coasters. If you're asking me for the deep metaphors behind roller coasters, I don't have them. But what's important is that they share the ideas of "bluebird", "puppet" and "roller coaster" that serve as a connection between a Lightner and a Secret Boss.
Jevil has theme park ride imagery too. While I can't point to a specific Lightner who shares the imagery, Jevil is associated with Merry-Go-Rounds.
Although I'm open to the idea that the imagery will be used again in the future.
For the Lightner's side, Ferris Wheels seem to be associated with Noelle. If we see a boss have a Ferris Wheel association, we should be on the look out for narrative parallels with Noelle.
But there's one more amusement park ride that's featured prominently in Chapter 2.
Spinning Tea Cups.
Let's look at this one Werewire's dialogue.
Then after beating Spamton.
From this one character we not only have references to Merry-Go-Rounds, Roller Coasters and Teacup rides, but we also have references to Clowns and Salesman. That's enough for me to think that Teacups are being grouped together with other Secret Boss related things. But do you know the big thing?
Do you remember where IMAGE_FRIEND is from?
Right here.
Right where the Teacup ride is. Not just any Teacup ride either. The one people called harder than Spamton Neo himself. With the Chapter 3 boss seemingly confirmed to be the one Seam warns us may be "impossible to beat", the difficulty of this particular ride feels less out of place. That is, if the FRIEND is indeed the Chapter 3 Secret Boss.
And going back to our Werewire friend,
The pink and yellow cat ads can be seen in this room too.
Combining Parts 1 and 2 of theory together, if this theory is correct, FRIEND will be a Secret Boss associated with teacups, and Catti will also gain an association with teacups.... or Catty will. At the very least, Catty has a room in the mansion associated with that particular cat ad.
Although, this room probably didn't belong to the FRIEND.
If you saw part 1, you know I can't resist putting something about Reverse Undertale Theory in. Well there's one thing perhaps. Bring your attention to the line "The teacup ride is privately owned." And add that to this:
People have noted that the "big shot" mentioned here isn't Spamton. Spamton lived in the room the Yellow Swatchling is standing in front of. People have even theorized that the "big shot" is referring to the FRIEND. But I want to highlight something other than being a potential Secret Boss here.
If the FRIEND is indeed the big shot, it means they're rich. Rich enough to own private teacup rides at least. For Reverse Undertale Theory then, we're looking for someone associated with money... and teacups.
Alright, let me talk about my own doubt real quick. I am 99% certain that Gerson's Hammer while have Undyne the Undying references. About 98% certain that Tenna will reference Mettaton's role in Hotland specifically (as opposed to Queen and Spamton Neo who have references Mettaton's role in the Core).
With the Chapter 4 main boss, it drops to about 80% odds for referencing Neutral-Route Undyne. In that we know quite little about Chapter 4, but what little we do fits. See one of my previous posts as for why.
With the Chapter 3 Secret Boss is where I have doubts. Not because I don't see how they could reference Muffet. But I see too many ways that makes it hard to commit to any one belief. I just brought up one idea.
But another idea is "How to Draw Dragons" and the Green Crayon. The basic idea of these posts is that the Secret Bosses will have thematic parallels with the Lightners. HttDD has a purple dragon on it. People have literally theorized the Green Crayon to be Ralsei because of how his Chapter 1 appearance looked. To go with the TV theme, I could just imagine HttDD being an actress typecast to be a villain, while the Green Crayon being an actor that plays a member of a super sentai group. The "Bad Guy" and the "Hero".
What brought Susie and Ralsei together? Cake. Specifically, Susie used the promise of getting cake as an excuse to stop making fun of Ralsei.
So what if Pie were to bring HttDD and the Green Crayon together? Well, Muffet's most famous attack is trying to feed us to her pet, a giant spider muffin. HttDD and Green Crayon trying to feed us to the Pie? There's a reference idea right there.
Of course someone else pointed to me out that So Sorry is technically a dragon and art-related. Which while fulfilling the idea that Chapter 3 would parallel Hotland, So Sorry is not the one I want to be paralleled by the Chapter 3 Secret Boss. "Because I don't want it" however, is not a good argument.
Either way, I can see how the pieces could fit for Muffet in both ideas. But by that same token, at least one of them has to be me seeing connections where they won't be.
In the end, the metric I'm looking for is whether or not the Chapter 3 Secret Boss uses the Purple SOUL mode. If it does, I'd be willing to bet money that we'll find the Muffet references outside it. And at that point, I'd bet my house that the Chapter 4 Secret Boss will use the Green SOUL mode.
But if it doesn't, I doubt Toby would be making a Muffet reference without using the Purple SOUL mode. There are ways Reverse Undertale Theory can be true without Muffet, but I will personally consider myself to be wrong if the Chapter 3 Secret Boss does not reference Muffet.
Alright, that's enough about Animal motifs and Carnival rides. I'm probably gonna make one more post rambling about the Green Room before Chapter 3 releases. With the update to the Spamton Sweepstakes, there's a lot more to talk about with it and how it connects to the Chapter 3 Secret Boss. And more importantly, what's not in there, but probably should be.

Deltarune Secret Bosses: Carnival of the Animals Pt 1. Important Addendum
Part 1:
https://www.tumblr.com/minunwithacannon/784461980690989056/deltarune-secret-bosses-carnival-of-the-animals?source=share
This part really slipped my mind when talking about Catti and the FRIEND. deltarune.com/rain talks about the mini-game that appears in Cat Petterz, the same one that has a small chance of making our FRIEND appear. And that this same mini-game appears in Cat Petters The RPG.
Thing is, not only does a copy of Cat Petters RPG appear in Kris's house...
But it's specifically connected to Catti... and Catty.
At the very least, I feel a lot more confident in the association between the FRIEND and Catti. And maybe even Catty.
Once I'm done talking about the Carnival aspect of the Secret Bosses, I'll probably talk about this room one more time. I think the Green Room has some connections to the Secret Boss we should go over one last time. But with Spamton connected to the game via "Mewmewqueen's Sympton family pack" (doubly love the idea of Spamton being an invention of Alphys), and the FRIEND appearing to be connected to him as well. Well, a lot is lining up.
Now I do have to bring up one word of caution about concluding that the FRIEND is indeed the Chapter 3 Secret Boss. There's something in the trailer that fits the bill we're looking for.
Pink and Yellow color scheme? Check? Cats? Check. From as far as I can tell, the clips from this section are sorted by Chapter. The preceding and following clip are of Shadow Guy and Lightners Live which are both confirmed to be Chapter 3. So I think it's safe to assume this is a clip from Chapter 3 as well. The thing is, I don't think this is a clip of the Secret Boss Fight. Toby mentioned a Special Room, in the newsletter, that was supposed to have a special control scheme in the Switch 2 version. This picture seems perfect to show off dual mouse controls for the Switch 2 version.
Does that deconfirm FRIEND as a Secret Boss? No. But I think it does confirm FRIEND for this Special Room. I don't know how big of a role Toby intends for the FRIEND. But a Secret Boss and a Special Mini-game? That'd be a lot.
Still, there's something more about the FRIEND I need to talk about and how it relates to Jevil and Spamton, and how they relate to Carnivals.

Deltarune Secret Bosses: Carnival of the Animals Pt 1.
I'm gonna put Reverse Boss Order/Reverse Undertale Theory on the backburner for today and talk about something else I need to get off my chest before 3 and 4 come out.
Before I can talk about the Secret Bosses, I need to talk Kris and Berdly. Berdly has a long monologue where he says he used to be a forgettable bluebird. Despite the fact that he is literally a blue bird, he's not talking literally when he says that word (at least not entirely).
He calls Kris a Bluebird too. What that metaphor exactly means is a little up in the air. He calls himself that before he won a spelling bee which got him attention. With that in mind, let's compare Kris's room in their house compared to the Castle.
The room in their house has a barren shelf compared to the one in the Castle which is filled with achievements. Ralsei at least thinks Kris has an issue with the barren shelf.
The exact meaning isn't super important to this post, as much as I'm trying to show that bluebird is a metaphor that applies to both Kris and Berdly. Likewise, they can also be described as Puppets. Kris gets puppeted around by us, while Berdly gets controlled by Queen.
"Bluebird" and "Puppet" are both words that describe Spamton. I've made a post talking about the puppet part before. I mostly want to focus on Bluebird for now.
Spamton Neo has wings and blue eggs. He shares the idea of being a puppet with Kris and Berdly. I think regardless of the exact meaning of the metaphor, he is supposed to share the idea of being a bluebird with Kris and Berdly too.
Does this tell us anything about the other Secret Bosses? The thing is, Jevil does have an animal metaphor too. It's brief, but there is a metaphor that compares him to an animal, and connects him to at least one member of the party.
Shark.
The meaning of this one I think is fairly straightforward. Sharks are dangerous and will mess you up if you mess with them on their turf. I've stated in a previous post that I think the "Prisoner" aspect of Jevil is meant to parallel with the Player's predicament at the end of Chapter 1. But the fact that Spamton has thematic parallels with Kris and Berdly, means that having thematic parallels with multiple characters isn't off the table. The exact specifics aren't so important at the moment.
What's important is that Jevil does have an animal metaphor. Which will lead us to the inspiration for this post.
Our good FRIEND. Toby updated the Spamton Sweepstakes in the lead up to Chapters 3 and 4 releasing. One of the pages "rarecats" will eventually display the FRIEND if you keep clicking on cats long enough. The association with cats is one thing. But someone pointed out a small detail that has been stuck in my mind ever since.
Catti has both Pink and Yellow in her design. For the longest time, I was convinced by the idea that the FRIEND wasn't actually real. Spamton arguably does a fair amount of connections to cats. But the renewed emphasis on the FRIEND on a page that was connected to one about Catti gnawed away at me once that color scheme was pointed out.
I have a lot of thoughts about the FRIEND, but they're getting their own post. We don't know enough about Catti to say what "Cat" means, but let's stick with this connection for now. Other posters have pointed out a potential connection between this smile and the Cheshire Cat of Alice In Wonderland and a potential pattern with the Secret Bosses and Gaster all representing Storybook Characters). Not a lot to go off of, but enough for me to believe it's possible that "Cat" may mean something the way "Shark" and "Bluebird" do.
If the FRIEND is the Chapter 3 Secret Boss and meant to parallel with Catti, it is weird that we'd fight it before Catti takes center stage. I have thoughts on that matter, but they're going to be part of the second part of this post. For now, let's assume that these two ideas will be true. And let's move on to Chapter 4. We know of one of Kris's classmates that is confirmed to be a part of Chapter 4.
Jockington. Now "Snake" is a word that is loaded with meaning. Particularly with everything pointing to a Church backdrop for Chapter 4. However, there's not that much we know about Jockington yet. How much metaphors around "Snakes" apply to Jockington is still up in the air. But there is one scene of him in Chapter 4 we have.
Yes. Really. Why do I bring this up?
Well... he's not the first bearded reptile we've met.
I lied. It's always about Reverse Undertale Theory with me.
Part 2 will talk about the Carnival Aspect, how it relates to our FRIEND and my one concern with Reverse Undertale Theory.

Deltarune is Waiting Trailer: Ch 4 Main Boss Theory
There's a segment in the Deltarune release date trailer that shows an image from Chapters 1 - 4 that says "Chapter X is Waiting" for each Chapter. Chapters 1 and 2 show King and Queen, the main boss of each Chapter respectively.
For Chapter 3 it shows what is presumably Tenna, who I think is a safe assumption to assume will be the main boss of Chapter 3.

For the pattern to hold, it would mean that the section for Chapter 4 would show the main boss of Chapter 4. What we see is Kris and Susie running away from... something.

Now, I've brought up my belief in Reverse Boss Order/Reverse Undertale theory more than once. I'm still locked in on the belief that the Secret Boss of Chapter 4 will be Gerson's Hammer, who will reference Undyne the Undying.
But for Reverse Undertale Theory to be true, the Main Boss also needs to reference Undyne. If the Chapter 4 segment is indeed referencing the Main Boss of Chapter 4, it shows we will be spending a significant segment of Chapter 4 running away from them.
Given all that I ask, "What do you spend most of Waterfall doing?"
Answer:
Running away from Undyne.

Deltarune Chapter 3 + 4 Trailer and Reverse Boss Order Theory
Spoilers for Nintendo Direct
We finally have a reveal trailer for Chapter's 3 and 4 and I'm feeling reassured about the validity of Reverse Boss Order Theory.
For Chapter 3, we get a look another look at what appears to be Tenna. TV head design is a go. Perfect to represent Mettaton's box form for his role during Hotland. Locking in that Chapter 3 will represent Hotland as a whole.
But the interesting thing for me is what we see of Chapter 4. We got two images of Chapter 4 in the Direct. I don't know what the color scheme is about. But in the first shot, we see what appears to be stain-glass windows, and in the second shot we see a large number of Delta Runes. Locking in now, Church Dark World with Gerson's Hammer as the Secret Boss, representing Undyne the Undying.

You know this is the exact sort of nonsense Toby is probably making fun of, but...
In the Autumn 24 newsletter, there's an interview where Sans makes the most basic of all jokes, but then all the Undertale Characters start making complex theories about it... until it comes full circle to 7 8 9. And then they make more complex theories about negative numbers.
Odds are, it's just supposed to make fun of people like me who read too much into everything.... but I can think of a way the joke can be read as a metaphor.
Alright, laying out the full pun.
5 6 7. 7 8 9.
Five sics Seven. Seven ate Nine.
Five, Seven and Nine are nouns. Sics and Ate are actions. Let's start with Nine, it's what the Newsletter is all about after all. Given the context of the rest of the newsletter, there is an obvious candidate for Nine.
Chara.
The letter at the bottom of the newsletter confirms that Chara's favorite number is 9. All the 9s from Chara destroying the world. If one was making a metaphor about the Undertale cast using numbers, 9 would be an obvious choice for Chara.
What about Seven? Well the obvious thought that comes to mind when you say Seven in regards to Undertale would be the seven human SOULs. There are two characters whose primary goal in Undertale is to collect the seven human SOULs. Asgore and Flowey, with everyone else wanting to collect them wanting to give them to Asgore. Of the two however, only one can be said have "ate Nine."
Asriel, the one who took Chara's SOUL. Adding on to that, Papyrus is weirdly defensive about Seven. We know that Papyrus thinks highly of Flowey, starting the Flowey Fan Club in multiple reset timelines. While Flowey is a villain by the time we meet him, Asriel taking Chara's SOUL to free everyone would meet the definition of "misled anti-hero", about as well as Asgore at any rate.
Which leaves Five? Is there someone represented by 5? Well, not a person and not five exactly. But there is something that people theorize is represented by 55.
Noelle's HP when wearing the Thorn Ring decreases until it reaches 55. It's been theorized plenty this is because 55 is LV in Roman numerals. Five then, would represent love. Perhaps in its double meanings.
So the full meaning of 5 6 7, 7 8 9 would be... Love compelled Asriel to take Chara's SOUL.
Does this tell us anything new then? ....Probably not. It's just a retelling of Undertale's backstory. I wonder if the negative numbers tell us anything. Probably not, I mean, negative nine would need to be opposite of what nine means. With the newsletter being clear that 9 means "As strong as possible", negative 9 would have to mean as weak as possible. And if seven meant killing for a greater purpose, then negative seven would mean not killing under any circumstances. But that's silly right?
Uhh.... well... If Seven means killing for a greater purpose, then Papyrus, someone who doesn't kill ever, fits the opposite of Seven. Even in a Genocide Route, Papyrus will never kill us. Even though, in that case, he probably should.
If Nine means being as strong as possible, so strong nothing can hurt you, then "the easiest enemy" would represent the opposite of Nine. Being as vulnerable as possible... but finding strength in that weakness.
This part sounds like it's making fun of Papyrus Knight Theory... but Sans's dialogue is a pretty good summary of Papyrus's role in Undertale. He's introduced as someone who wants to hunt humans, ostensibly something bad and detrimental to us... but he's pretty quickly shown to be a helpful and kind soul. Whether something similar will happen in Deltarune, too soon to tell.
But what the heck would negative ate mean? If ate means taking a SOUL, then negative ate would be... giving a SOUL?
Okay, that's it. Theory's cancelled. I'm leaving. Goodbye. Shut the door on your way out.

The Crossing of Reverse Boss Order Theory and Chess Theory
If there is one theory I'm married to, it's Reverse Boss Order theory (the idea that the bosses in Deltarune will represent the bosses in Undertale in reverse order. Starting with King and Jevil representing Asgore and Sans. Followed by Queen and Spamton representing Mettaton EX and NEO). But I also have a certain fondness for Chess Theory (the idea that the chapter bosses will represent the pieces in chess in decreasing point order. King -> Queen -> Rook -> Bishop -> Knight).
Skip over chapter 3 for a moment. Let's talk about Chapter 4 assuming that both ideas are true. This means that the boss would represent the Bishop and Undyne, the boss of Waterfall. And well...
Doesn't it feel like he exists to marry the idea of a holy man and Waterfall? Whether he is "Bishop" or not, him being involved with Chapter 4 could absolutely make these ideas work together. I personally like the idea of a literature themed Dark World in the Church. Speaking of...
Taking it one step further is the hammer. I wasn't the person to come up with this idea, but that hammer could absolutely make a good representation of the Undying. Gerson was probably buried with his hammer (whether body or dust, Deltarune is still a little unclear if monsters turn to dust). It may/may not actually be Gerson, but if it can at least channel the idea of him being back from the dead, then the idea works.
Bonus points if the boss theme is called: "UNDEATH OF THE AUTHOR"

Once again, a Deltarune Newsletter Reinforces My Belief in Reverse Boss Order Theory
See the last time these Newsletters reinforced my belief in the theory, and for a brief explanation of the theory.
So what's my smoking gun this time? Well, in the newsletter we learned about a new item via the localization examples.
It appears to be a piece of armor shaped like a ginger-bread man. Does this tell us anything about the Secret Boss of Chapter 3? Well, not directly. But it may tell us something about Chapter 3's setting.
(And I feel safe saying it's in Chapter 3. The examples before and after it show things we can be pretty safe are in chapter 3. Elnina, Lanino, Shadowguy).
We already knew that TV looks to be a major theme of Chapter 3. However this hints that Baked Goods may be important to Chapter 3 as well. And there is one place I can think of where TV and Baked Goods are important.
Hotland.
The idea always made sense to me. The room the fountain was opened up in was both a living room and a kitchen. A living room with a TV. A kitchen with a pie in the oven. But it's nice to see an actual piece of validation, even if only a small drop of it.
I also feel confident saying Mettaton will inspire Tenna as the main boss, while Muffet will inspire the secret boss. Mettaton was not fought in Hotland during the Genocide route. Therefore, I believe Muffet would count as the "Boss" of Hotland for the Genocide route.

I'm not the biggest fan of the "Ch. 3 Secret Boss is the tossed out flowers theory" but...
I mean I'd much rather save a Flowey themed boss until later. Preferably during a chapter that takes place in Flower King. Those flowers man. But here's a pattern with the Secret Bosses:
Jevil: Sees the world as a game, gets trapped in a cage. -> Player
Spamton: A puppet seeking to cut his own strings. -> Kris
Do you see what I'm getting at? If the secret bosses are meant to parallel the party, then it'd be natural for Ralsei and Susie to also get corresponding their parallels too. Maybe even Noelle. And it absolutely would make sense for a Ralsei parallel secret boss to reference Flowey too.
Though this theory is predicated on the secret boss of chapter 3 being a parallel for Ralsei when Susie is still equally likely. And well... both is a possibility. I do have a theory that covers that possibility cooking. Concerning the other strong items in Kris's home that get commonly theorized to be the Ch. 3 Secret Boss.

This is really reinforcing my belief in Reverse Boss Order Theory
Spoilers for Spring 2024 Newsletter
Like, that has to be a reference to Jevil, right? I feel like the connections between the other Deltarune bosses and their reverse counterparts in Undertale are stronger than Jevil and Sans. But that has to be intentional on Toby's part right?
(For those unaware, Reverse Boss Theory is the belief that each Deltarune Boss will have a counterpart in Undertale. With normal bosses having a counterpart in the Neutral route bosses. While the secret bosses having a counterpart in the Genocide bosses.
King -> Asgore; Jevil -> Sans
Q5U4EX7YY2E9N -> Mettaton EX; Spamton NEO -> Mettaton NEO
Tenna -> Mettaton)

Ralsei's return to Castle Town
I was rewatching the ending of Chapter 2 and it was a little ambiguous on that matter. You don't see him in the cutscene where Kris and Susie bring Queen to the Dark World. He just appears following them when they enter the next room. I've got a mini-theory cooking up that depends on the answer. Nothing mind-shattering, or even that much about Ralsei. But how consistent the theory is depends on the answer to this question.

The Owl House, For the Future Spoilers.
You know, I would not have bet on anything resembling a Boscha redemption arc being in Season 3 considering how shortened it was. But I'm not complaining to have finally gotten something in that vein, even if it's only the impetus of her changing.
I wonder if the she and the other Hexside students will have a role in the finale. Probably not, but it'd be cool if they got one last hurrah before the end of the show.

Toby released a new music video on the anniversary of Deltarune. It concerns a video game that seemingly gets discarded and broken. And a love story between the two protagonists, or read another way between the female lead and the player. The girl has heart designs, and a star like the SAVE points can be seen. The final boss of this game is a dragon, and it has three save files much like Deltarune.
Far below the video on the site, you can see the girl in the video alone in the dark.
Calling it now, the game is meant to be an entry in the Dragon Blazers series and the girl is the Secret Boss of Deltarune Chapter 3.
