I'm not the biggest fan of the "Ch. 3 Secret Boss is the tossed out flowers theory" but...

I mean I'd much rather save a Flowey themed boss until later. Preferably during a chapter that takes place in Flower King. Those flowers man. But here's a pattern with the Secret Bosses:

Jevil: Sees the world as a game, gets trapped in a cage. -> Player

Spamton: A puppet seeking to cut his own strings. -> Kris

Do you see what I'm getting at? If the secret bosses are meant to parallel the party, then it'd be natural for Ralsei and Susie to also get corresponding their parallels too. Maybe even Noelle. And it absolutely would make sense for a Ralsei parallel secret boss to reference Flowey too.

Though this theory is predicated on the secret boss of chapter 3 being a parallel for Ralsei when Susie is still equally likely. And well... both is a possibility. I do have a theory that covers that possibility cooking. Concerning the other strong items in Kris's home that get commonly theorized to be the Ch. 3 Secret Boss.

DETARUNE CHAPTERS 3 AND 4 SPOILERS UNDER THE CUT

I’ve got a prophecy/endgame theory lads, buckle up

I think it’s safe to say that the ending of chapter four is alluding to Ralsei’s death. Which absolutely SHOOK me, but the two chapters overall both were hinting at this going in. The multiple instances of him insisting they shouldn’t care about him, the empty room because he knows he won’t survive to need it for very long, the blood on his cheek with his words about fate being decided, and, of course, his parallel to Asriel in Undertale in being sacrificed for a greater cause.

Suffice to say, unless this is all a red herring, the game spent a large portion of the two chapters building up to this ultimate reveal. However, I think this final scene also hints at HOW Ralsei is supposed to die despite the prophecy being shattered by Susie. It’s subtler, but there.

Susie is supposed to kill him.

The blood on Ralsei’s face is initially from Susie’s hand. “The blood is on her hands.” She turns to touch his face after insisting none of them will let it happen, ESPECIALLY Ralsei.

Over the course of the chapter, Susie is consistently interested in the prophecy, and especially her role in it. This, and her story in chapters three and four heavily revolve around her growth as a person. She’s reflecting on herself, and learning to see herself has more than the ‘bad kid’ she was. It’s a focal point for a reason; it’s going to get flipped on its head.

Ralsei reiterates throughout the chapter that Susie is “a really really nice person.” It’s brought up in Chapter 3 after speaking about the festival, and after this conversation in Chapter 4. Ralsei’s question of “How can she be so kind?” isn’t reflecting to Susie’s own reflections of herself, or because of her consistent consolations of Ralsei’s doubts (in her Susie way), despite it being framed that way. He’s constantly questioning how she could possibly be so kind when she’s fated to kill him.

And Ralsei’s hope that the prophecy would change. Consider it: Would he have been trying to change his own death the whole time if it wasn’t for one of the lightner’s sake? No. Because multiple times again, he states he will take the pain for them. The reason he has been so insistent on “being kind” from the get go was not to change his own fate, but Susie’s. To try and ensure she wouldn’t be stuck with the fate of being the one to take his life, and have to live with that guilt.

He thought the answer was teaching her kindness. But with the prophecy unchanged, it leaves him stuck with that question: “how can she be so kind” and still be his inevitable doom? How can someone so kind still be fated to end his life?

Anyways, if Ralsei actually dies I’m still crying.

It's interesting to think that, like... The Dark Sanctuary Dark World in Chapter 4 is the first Dark World we've seen that has no real connection to the theme of 'abandonment'.

Like, Card Kingdom is based on an unused classroom filled with abandoned toys. The entire plotline there revolves around King's anger and resentment at being abandoned by the Lightners and his desire to take revenge.

The computer room that became Cyber World is usually very frequently used, but.... because the Internet is down it's not at the moment. And Queen is driven by the anxiety of being abandoned if this internet shutdown continues, synthesized through her ego in a very "what would the Lightners do without me?" way.

And TV Land is the heaviest on this theme. With Tenna being driven by the grief of falling into disuse due to both technological advancements and the Dreemurr-Holiday Family Unit slow dissolution and the fear that this will get worse and he will be thrown out.

But then in the Dark Sanctuary... The Church is often used by the people of Hometown, this doesn't seem like it's going to change anytime soon and we see no Darkner be anxious about, like, the canceled Choir practice or anything like that. The closest thing we have to a 'leader' in that Dark World is Gerson/the Hammer of Justice, who is clearly a precious and well-loved Monster-Equivalent-of-an-Urn. If anything, his main worry is about him not being there for his Lightner son!

And, like, I said the Hammer of Justice is the closest thing we have to the 'Dark World Leader' slot in the formula seen in the previous three worlds, but that's also not quite the case.... cause he's also the Shadow Crystal Bearer of the same world. If the Hammer is like the Jevil or Spamton of this world, than it doesn't really have a King/Queen/Tenna for itself?

I remember when Chapter 2 came out, I already noticed this 'Abandonment' Pattern and I wondered whatever a Dark World created from objects that are not neglected or abandoned would just be far too.... content to actually have an adventure in it. Like, there would be no one to fight cause all the Darkners would just be chill and happy they're fulfilling their purposes.

And I also wondered if the Dark is, like, attracted to objects which were abandoned or neglected, gives them bigger importance or power in the Dark World. Hence a 'TV Land" instead of a general "Dreemurr House Land", the TV is the most abandoned thing there and so it is granted more focus.

And on that same topic I wondered about the fact Kris deliberately turned on the TV before opening that Dark Fountain. Like they were intentionally trying to aim for a TV Land Dark World.

Obviously the first idea, that non-abandoned Darkners would all just be benign NPCs has been disproved by the Dark Sanctuary, which has it's fair share of enemies to battle. But I think the idea that the Dark gives extra power and importance to things that have been Abandonment might have some merit. Not just with the Dreemurrs' living room being ruled and controlled by their disused old TV but also with the fact there isn't a clearly equivalent to Tenna (or Queen or King) in Dark Sanctuary.

And again, it makes me think of Kris' reasons for turning on the TV... Was it because their plans is to deliberately invoke the prophecy as much as possible and a TV Guy being slashed by the Knight is mentioned so they had to make a TV Guy?

Could they intuit that the Darkner that would be created from the Television would probably be desperate for attention and obsessed with Toriel and thus easier for the Knight to manipulate.... and also maybe that the Abandonment it feels will make it stronger?

(Notable perhaps that they also slightly opened the house's front door before turning on the TV and making a Fountain. In light of the events of Chapter 3, it seems like it was Kris laying a trap to pull Undyne to the Dark World so that the Knight could kidnap her)

Have Kris and/or the Knight have been deliberately seeking out abandoned and disused places that will therefore have stronger 'boss' Darkners that are easier to manipulate towards the Knight's goals?

And if that was the case, why did they stop with the Dark Sanctuary?

Did they just kinda... ran out of obviously abandoned places/things around Hometown?

Was it simply a matter of following the prophecy?

Was it a desperate attempt to re-capture Toriel via the choir practice?

Was the Knight just desperate to open a new Dark Fountain... somewhere and went with the Church as their first opportunity?

Was that pattern I noticed just a coincidence and doesn't actually mean anything?

ok wait hear me out on my thoughts about this Carol sprite that was “unused”

there’s a lot of stuff about Kris losing a hand, like one of the shadow crystals saying “You looked through and you thought you could see through your hand” and the gachapon machine scene (and other moments and lines I can’t remember right now)

so what if, at some point, we fight The Knight again, they cut off Kris’s hand and their blood splatters onto their face, and then we go back into the Light World and we see this sprite (that’s just assuming The Knight IS Carol, right now I believe it’s her, but idk I could be wrong lol)

My MIKE design for Deltarune

The basic idea essentially comes from the theory that MIKE is a cat, more specifically the Mi Ke Japanese Bobtail Cat, which is a symbol of good luck! And that wide grin of his reminds me of a Cheshire Cat, so why not make him a Mi Ke Japanese Cheshire Cat?

I have digital drawings with the exact colors my design of him would use, so I’ll find those later :p

Also it’d be really funny if he ended up being Gaster’s pet cat….

A few things I thought about DELTARUNE chapter 3. (Spoilers, but only for some funny moments lmao)

1. Roulxe is canonically Bi and HOT???

HELP WHAT???

2. Mike abandoning both spamton and Tenna is quite interesting since it kinda seems like he abandoned spamton for Tenna?

3. On that note HOW THE F- how do Tenna and Spamton know each other??? Is it like the email thing you could get on the Wii?? Is that how?? They've met each other before, but if you have the deal maker in the pipis cutscene Tenna doesn't recognise him?

4. Also the knight having a physical incarnation... With *antlers* and then retreating to the bunker? Kinda makes me agree with the theories saying there isn't just one person making the dark fountains? Like someone makes one, and then the knight appears in it first to impose their will onto the world (like it telling Tenna to keep the fun gang distracted as long as possible. Maybe to keep them in the dark world while it makes another dark fountain

5. The cutscene where Tenna is saying how everyone started to leave him shows the order in which people stopped coming over- showing the order of events. Des is first, probably disappeared by the bunker, then it's Mayor holiday (I think??), and then I think it was Rudy, Asgore, Asriel, Kris and then Toriel. And I think that has lore implications

Another element of chapter 3 breaking the superboss pattern is that in a lot of ways there's 3 different Jevil/Spamton equivalent; Ramb, the thing you have to fight to get the shadow mantle, and the knight itself

I mean… you can kinda say that Ramb is something closer to the Seam/Swatch role, as a Shopkeeper that has a connection to the Superboss. And compare the Shadow Mantle Thing to something like that Fucking Tea-Cup Minigame in Queen’s basement.

But, like, that still kinda plays into your point. The familiar roles from Jevil and Spamton’s sidequests are still there but they’re also noticeably… off. Like, yeah, one could slot them into the patterns we saw in Chapters 1 and 2, but it’s obviously not-quite-the-right-fit.

Ramb is a shopkeeper with connections to the Superboss Quest… but in many ways he’s got more obviously in common with a Spamton than a Swatch. Like the Basement Tea Cup Ride we have to play a Mini-Game to advance in the sidequest… but this ‘Mini-Game’ is so robust and high-stakes, it’s basically its own boss.

The pieces of the formula we’ve seen in the first two chapters are there… but in Chapter 3 you can see how they’re starting to veer off-course. And then it all goes totally off-the-rails for the Chapter 4 Superboss.

observations I made about various Roaring Knight sprites

starting somewhere fun:

specifically. look at the titans to the sides of the big guy. how fun

anyways. second observation time!

(from the "villains wiki" on wikifandom. again, idk how to find who uploaded it there so that's the most I can do by way of credit).

anyways. more specifically, let's focus on...

this fucker. that a lot of people say is a bat. specifically a wiffle ball bat. because we all want the knight to be dess holiday. which is fair, but also consider this:

specifically, please focus on this detail:

carol holiday's katana. which, if you look at the first knight image on this post, has a similar handle. and, in the latest knight image, a similar curve, too. also, its more explicitly a blade, which is what is used to make dark worlds.

idk. I'm not trying to make a specific argument here, or sell anyone on any particular theory. just... general observations I made, compiled somewhere for people who do have patience to make theories and gather clues. I even cited my sources and everything.
