Character Info:

Risuko is a cheerful and optimistic, yet sometimes scatter-brained 25-year old woman who currently works as one of three character mascots on the show ‘Together with Maman’. As the kind and sweet lady squirrel mascot, Risuo, she acts as a mood energizer on the show, always staying upbeat and supportive to both the children and her fellow cast members. Behind the Risuo mask, Risuko’s personality isn’t too different, and she often tries to find the positive in most situations, though there’s a stubborn and cheeky streak that becomes more prominent to those she’s close to. It becomes a problem when she’s overly positive, to the point it becomes clear to everyone she’s grasping at straws for the sake of keeping herself together and avoiding addressing the actual issues.

Formerly a resident of a small city in Miyagi, Risuko grew up dreaming big with stars in her eyes and a fire in her heart. After starring in her primary school’s play, she longed for a bigger audience, a brighter stage, and thus her dream of being a big time actress was properly born. It was a dream her parents were sure she’d outgrow and saw nothing more as a passing phase. But when Risuko insisted on attending auditions for shows, commercials and movies, her parents realized it wouldn’t be a dream that would go away on its own. They would try to sit her down and have her understand that her dreams are just too big and she shouldn’t set herself up for disappointment. Their words, while hurtful, however, only made her more determined to prove she could do it.

Eventually, Risuko’s mother would accompany Risuko to a few auditions, making sure to avoid any that had them pay. Risuko did indeed face several rejections, but she was undeterred, as she’d read online that rejections were common for a first timer. Instead she did her best to hone her acting and improve herself for the next audition. And so on she would continue, eventually getting her first role as an extra in a commercial. The role was non-speaking, and the pay was pretty much peanuts, but to Risuko it was a step in the right direction. She was nothing if not determined, continuing to practice acting after school, working with her theatre teacher as that was the closest to an acting coach she had, and attending more auditions. She landed a few more commercial roles, some speaking and some non-speaking, and some extras or background character roles in small dramas. 

When she turned 14, after an audition, she’d receive an offer to join an entertainment agency as they liked her look and thought she’d be a good fit for an idol girl group they were planning on forming. Risuko had been hesitant, as she wasn’t interested in being an idol. She wanted to be a big time actress, that was her dream. She would think it over, even consulting her parents who, at first, thought it was a scam and then worried whether she’d be mature enough to handle being an idol at her age. But eventually, Risuko decides she’ll do it, following her heart and deciding that this was an opportunity to put herself out there, to get her name and face out in the entertainment world. Whether the group does well or not is one thing, but Risuko feels it’ll be a good step for her dream. Her parents decide it’s not something they’ll be able to change Risuko’s mind on, and it’s an experience she’ll have to live through to see if it really will be beneficial for her. They sign a contract with the agency alongside Risuko to have her officially join the agency and group.

The idol girl group was called ‘Clown ☆ Crush!’ a group with the concept of a typical group of cute singing and dancing girls, but who also happen to be cute clowns you can’t help but crush on! Risuko thought the idea was a bit strange, more funny than anything but wasn’t sure how popular it would be. Regardless, she thought it sounded fun and wanted to give it her best shot. She and 3 other girls formed the group, training for a couple of months together before debuting to a surprising amount of success. They weren’t a top idol group, but they had steady and moderate attention and fame. The group gained its own niche fanbase who fell in love with the concept and the girls themselves. Risuko would use the stage name ‘Himari’ and would often be associated with a sunflower. Even if being an idol wasn’t her dream, Risuko couldn’t deny how much she enjoyed performing and meeting happy fans. It may not have been the stage she longed for, but it was a bright stage she gave her all too nonetheless.

Eventually, once Risuko was 23, the group members all graduated and went on to pursue different paths in life. And thus Risuko’s journey to becoming an actress once more began and while she managed to land some slightly better commercial and advertisement roles, two side character roles in some daytime dramas, and one lead role in another daytime drama, she wasn’t yet where she wanted to be. But she was closer than ever, she was sure of it. Either way, she had to find a job soon in between the acting gigs she did get, as she didn’t have enough to sustain herself in the city with the leftover money she’d made from ‘Clown ☆ Crush!’ (her parents and her didn’t properly look over the payment portion of her contract, just seeing she’d get paid at all was enough for them). Thus, she attended an audition to be cast in ‘Together with Maman’, a children’s educational TV program. It seemed like a good way to keep herself on TV and in the entertainment industry but nothing overwhelming.

Of course, she never expected to be cast as a mascot…but that was okay! She had to make the most of any opportunity, as always!...

Risuko currently lives in an apartment that houses herself and her orange tabby cat. She goes to work on ‘Together with Maman’ and attends auditions during her days off, hoping to land that one big role that will have her name be household known.  Though she’s often bright and lighthearted, shadows of deeply embedded insecurities and fears reside inside her. Her smile isn’t exactly false, but it’s sometimes just another mask she hides behind and a habit that she clings to. Sometimes she wonders whether she’s still just playing the part of her idol persona, where does it end and where does her real personality begin? She wonders if she’s truly a bad actress and that’s why she can’t get the roles she wants, or if she’s too good of an actress still deeply playing a part she has been for years.

Extra:

Has an older sister who is 3 years older than her and an older brother who is 9 years older than her. Both are married with their own spouses and have their own kids, making Risuko an aunt.

Her favorite food is omelets.

Her favorite flowers are tulips, though she never buys any since they’re poisonous for cats.

Despite having been a literal idol, isn’t exactly a skilled singer, but she made up for it with stage presence, charm and dancing skills.

💼 Reyu Carrera- Intro & Profile

Character Info:

Reyu grew up in the bustling city of New York,  specifically in Jackson Heights, alongside her younger sister Mila. They were raised by their working parents that eventually got divorced shortly after Reyu turned 7 years old. Having witnessed and overheard the many fights and discussions between her parents, Reyu knew this was the best choice, but it still stung. However, it would only hurt more when her father stopped taking her to her ballet classes and didn’t show up to her recitals anymore. Slowly but surely he distanced himself from them all until he completely gave up his parental rights, wanting nothing to do with either her or Mila.

Left with only her working single mother to raise her and her sister, Reyu took it upon herself to lessen any burden she could for her mother. Stepping up as a reliable older sister to Mila and a responsible daughter for her mother. And Reyu’s mother would be undeterred by her ex-husband’s lack of involvement, she was a strong woman and she would see to it that Reyu and Mila understood that they were both loved by her and she would do her best to shape them into independent and strong young ladies herself.

Reyu greatly admired her mother, and though there was still an ache in her heart, she did her best to be strong, moreso for her mother’s and Mila’s sake. Reyu could tell how tiring it could be for her mother, having to provide for the three of them on her own, having to work double jobs, having to do long hours, just to keep moving forward. It’s why Reyu did her best to do her part and work hard in school, to make sure she had top grades her mother could be proud of, to earn rewards and certificates and to participate in activities and extracurriculars that would show her mother that her efforts weren’t in vain. She also would take care of Mila, going to school with her, making her lunch and even dinner, helping her with homework, and being an older sister she could be proud of. Reyu didn’t want to become a burden to her mother, she couldn’t. She couldn’t crumble in front of Mila who needed her. So she had to be someone worth sacrificing so much for.  She had to be someone worth looking up to. There was no time to dawdle and wish things could be different, the reality was she needed to put in the effort to get what she wants and be who she wants.

After discarding her ballet shoes long ago, and tossing aside a dream of becoming a ballerina, Reyu has the goal of becoming an affluent and well-established Family Lawyer. A goal she pursues by looking up qualifications she’ll need and doing her best to prepare herself for law school, maintaining her GPA, making connections, doing research, joining her school’s debate team, and even earning herself an internship for a law firm.

But she never does make it to her internship, instead, she finds herself inside a coffin, lost in a completely different world that seems like something out of a dream she’d never believe.

Reyu is, of course, hardworking when it comes to her studies and is often reading one thing or another, always expanding her knowledge although she would already be considered intelligent, she knows learning doesn’t have an end point. 

She can be quick-witted as well, having grown up in the city, her mind is constantly on the go and ready to react to one situation or another. Though, being in Twisted Wonderland, even she finds herself taken aback and dumbfounded at the things that occur. Still, she strives to remain practical and calm when she can.

Reyu does her best to be kind and polite when necessary but will often be prone to sarcasm and snarkiness, especially when a situation or person is ridiculous to her.

She tries to be realistic about every situation as much as possible, and thus doesn't try to delude herself with fairytales or anything close to it. Has a hard time dealing with overly optimistic people, not understanding the ability to essentially remain blind to what she considers to be the truth.

But, she’s still a helpful and caring person underneath, and she’s very forthcoming about following her personal principles. Some which include being honest and remaining pragmatic, helping those who she considers helpless, always accepting the consequences of your actions, and always follow through on a promise.

Overall, Reyu is a self-reliant, sometimes strict, yet responsible, protective and trustworthy person.

Since living in Ramshackle, she's been getting into DIY due to all the fixing up she's been doing to the place.

Works shifts at the Mostro Lounge for the extra money.

Her favorite flowers are Angel's Trumpets.

Likes horror movies and novels. Can't consume either before bed or else she'll stay up all night.

Prefers tea over coffee but finds coffee to be more useful in waking her up in the mornings.

Despite being allergic to shrimp, has a guilty pleasure for shrimp cocktails.

When she'd still attend her ballet classes and recitals, she'd unconsciously always look if her father was in attendance.

Reyu gave up on her dream of being a ballerina early on when she realized it likely wouldn't bring in the money she felt was necessary to ease her mother's financial burden.

Notes:

Reyu's dorm outfit was based on Robert's prince outfit at the end of Enchanted with a mix of the Ramshackle colors and style. The long jacket was made to a short, blazer like style to fit in more with a business suit type vibe for Reyu who wants to be taken seriously.

Her coffin icon contains a briefcase that has a similar keyhole to the ones in the gacha of the game. Colors used were mostly taken from Grim's coffin icon.

💼 Home: Everyone looks like they’ve walked out of a storybook, I guess the fairytale theme is in full swing.

as you can see above, my vision for this outfit was pretty much taken from the outfit on the right which is one that is worn by the character she's based off in Disenchanted (which is the sequel to Echanted). I thought it would be fitting considering he wears that outfit while the world is turned to a real life fairytale and considering this event is called Fairytale Soiree, it just made sense to me to put her in it.

Now that I look at it, I think maybe the prince outfit from the first movie would've been more fitting for this event, but I'm actually saving an outfit based on that for something else.

Anyways moving on to the background, I wanted to note that I was watching Shrek while drawing and I was very much inspired by the swamp. So I kind of just made a cave with lots of green and all that. And then I added fireflies to kind of give it a more magical and pretty feeling.

And then as I kept watching Shrek, there's this scene where they come upon the dragon, but at first all you see is the green eye. And idk I really liked that and I looked at my art and thought hey maybe I'll add that to the cave since it looked too empty. But after I added it I was like hey Malleus is a dragon, it'd be funny if he was the dragon in the cave. He's not. Or maybe he is? I don't know. It's a dragon eye but it may or may not be his.

And finally, this will likely be the last Reyu art I make before I redesign her. Though it's not so much a complete redesign, so much as me organizing her profile, information, references, etc. Mostly because I was finally able to compile the templates I needed to put all that together. But she'll be pretty much the same, there will just be some tweaks...probably.
