Under no circumstances is it ever okay to do cultural appropriation of any kind. I don’t wanna hear no excuses of “well its appreciation” NO ITS NOT WHAT THEY DID WAS WRONG, IGNORANT AND GOOFY WITH A CHERRY OF RACISM ON TOP. Black culture is not some costume it’s our day to day lives. As a black woman it’s very hard to get into kpop bc I always have to make sure I don’t get fooled on behalf of artist/companies making a fool of themselves. There is no apology or excuse that kiss of life could give. The year is 2025 and we still doing this sht?!?!?

It’s embarrassing and pathetic, there is no defending this 2 members are from America and on top of that one of them was already caught before saying the n word and had to apologise. And the icing on this shitty cake is that haneul also said before this livestream started not to leave the fandom. So you knew what you were doing was wrong but did it anyway?!?? “The company might have forced them” no they didn’t because Julie wanted to do this concept for her bday this was HER CHOICE OF A CONCEPT. So kiss of life just didn’t care and they know they have a big number of black fans they just truly don’t care and when ppl stop caring about them I hope they don’t act confused. Kiof threw it all away for a cheap stereotype concept that ain’t even good nor funny. Kpop companies have been testing the water to see what they can get away with as far as CA now that hip hop and black culture has been on an even more uprise and yall are getting a basic level look of how fare they are willing to go. Sooo... with the uproar over the amount of lines Yeosang does not have, I have heard on instagram that people are pooling together money (and met their goal) to send a truck about it to KQ about Yeosang's line distribution. I am not a fan of the idea, I understand why theyre upset but I really feel like the fans are putting their own grief onto Yeosang based on rumors and projecting. What do you think if you want to share your thoughts that is!

If I were an idol and fans did this "for me" I would be mortified.

From what I understand, a ktiny at a fanmeeting relayed to a Yeosang fanbase something Yeosang allegedly said to her about how he was sad and that KQ was making him cut his hair and forcing him to stop bulking up at the gym. The fanbase has since deleted the tweet and offered no explanation.

This news came after fans were disappointed to find that Yeosang received the fewest lines in the new title track; fans also claimed they could see Yeosang's visible heartbreak in the fan chant video Ateez posted.

This was a recipe for a classic twitter!atiny meltdown, where the words of one anonymous source speaking a different language became all the ammunition they needed to launch a passionate campaign to save Yeosang from KQ.

Listen, if atiny twitter have a villain, it's Eden. You cannot have a nuanced or even slightly-positive take about that man on that app, or they will jinjja kill you. I was not there during the early years of KQ so I won't claim to know how it was back then, and it is empirically true that Yeosang (and Wooyoung) received fewer lines during the first few years of Ateez. We also know that this latest album was actually the most equal the line distribution has ever been, although Yeosang does suffer from a lack of lines in the title track.

However, what really irks me is the white knight/savior complex so many in the fandom have towards this adult man, who they believe cannot advocate for himself - and who they claim is actively being sabotaged by the company to weaken his leverage ahead of contract negotiations. You can certainly find examples of Yeosang talking about his frustrations with limited opportunities to stand out in the group, and the other members have remarked on Yeosang's tendency to avoid confrontation even when he's being treated poorly. Yet this does not mean the fandom knows what's actually happening in that studio, nor the truth of Eden's relationship to the members.

I will absolutely agree that the system by which each member auditions for their part by singing the entire song may no longer be the most effective means of assigning lines. It may have fostered healthy competition in the early years, but perhaps a new strategy is called for. I honestly don't know.

I guess the crux of my annoyance with the way today turned out is that, rather than wait and verify the truth to the secondhand claims made by this ktiny (did Yeosang actually disclose personal feelings and professional disappointments at a fan meeting?) they felt validated for their hatred of Eden and KQ. Already inflamed by a lot of (mostly valid) issues and complaints with this comeback, they chose to use this perceived attack on Yeosang as a way to vent their frustrations with a company who, depending on the day, is either a noble champion of artistic and professional freedoms for its idols OR an evil corporation trying to silence its members. You won't find me claiming the former, but I also don't quite agree with the latter.

So what happened? Instead of Golden Hour: Part 3, Lemon Drop, or Ateez trending, this is what trended for most of the day:

This all goes back to the weird maternalistic relationship a lot of the fandom has with Yeosang. "Saving" Yeosang (from KQ, Eden, San, or even Wooyoung) becomes a moral crusade that often belies a fundamental misunderstanding of Yeosang the person, who would perhaps not wish to be the center of a fan-driven campaign to flood the comments of every official instagram, twitter, and tiktok with complaints about unfair treatment on the day of a new album's release.

I really don't have an interest in discussing this further, but I guess I did need to get this off my chest.

hey guys, i'm really sorry, but it seems like my fiance and i are coming up short on our rent. he was fired a few months ago and has been having real difficulty finding another job. i have no idea what's coming in my paycheck tomorrow, and at the worst of it i'm about $500 short. i can pull out of my paycheck early, but i don't know if i'll have enough by the time rent rolls around - we're using a system to flex our rent and it has to be paid on the 1st.

if there is anything at all y'all can donate, i would be so appreciative. i hate to ask and i know there are so many bigger things going on in the world and that we're all struggling, i just cannot miss this rent payment. we've never not been able to pay before but since he lost his job we've been screwed for a while, and i'm the only one supporting us and i'm sorry but i'm just absolutely panicking at the moment.

I hate Smeyer for many reasons but mostly for her blatant native racism. Not only did she write a story about a real Native American tribe and misrepresent their culture and in doing so create real ramifications for them (while not offering a single dime to help them after the damage she caused), but her entire story hinges on racist and classist tropes.

The wolf pack are treated so terribly by her writing. They’re also sexualized and objectified by her despite them being teenage boys, the youngest of them by Breaking Dawn being like 12-13. They’re literally just a bunch of traumatized kids that she says look like 25 year old men, and the only reason she did that was so she could write about them naked all the time and shit

She wrote them as aggressive predators who harm women, despite her own writing contradicting this very thing, seeing as their sole purpose for existing is to protect the sanctity of human life.

She writes about Jacob assaulting Bella, about Sam tearing up Emily’s face, about them being unable to handle rejection and becoming violent and incapable of controlling themselves specifically around women. It’s a disgusting stereotype she plays with. She writes about them as if they have no right to their anger, despite their lives being intruded upon by a bunch of white colonizer vampires lol. The Cullens are quite literally the entire reason they shift into wolves at all. The Cullens don’t have to live there, they just choose to, even knowing that they are uprooting and destroying their lives by doing so.

And she writes it as if the native characters are the villains in all this. She ends her story quite literally enslaving Jacob to his canonical oppressors. He ends up having zero bodily autonomy and no mind of his own. He becomes forever bound to the Cullens and to the girl he loved who is no longer her but an undead demonic thing.

It actually pisses me off so bad lmao

I can admit Amber isn’t a perfect character but the hatred this fandom had for her was…intense

Y’all hate a black teenager ( now young adult as of Season 3 ) but some of you don’t criticize or wanna burn the whole series down with Nolan / Omni-Man?

the anger towards Amber Bennett makes no sense and i’m gonna tell you why

Most of the anger directed at Amber stems from misogynoir let’s break it down step by step.

The most used argument for hating Amber is that she’s an awful bitch for being upset with Mark because she knew he was a superhero. I’m gonna explain why this is stupid, so stay with me 🙏🏾 cause we’re actually gonna have to start before Mark

When Nolan met Debbie. These two have been together for decades and it’s explained very clearly why. From the start Debbie knew Nolan’s secret, not because she found it out and then confronted him about it, but because Nolan told her. In her words “all their cards were on the table.” If Nolan was gone she wasn’t in the dark she knew what he was doing because he trusted her enough to share it. The reason they worked is because they had trust.

While obviously we know their relationship didn’t work out it wasn’t because of a communication problem, it was because Nolan was keeping secrets from her and also didn’t value her as a person with valid feelings. It’s almost like they’re meant to be a parallel to another couple on the show.

So with that information we get to Mark and Amber

Mark is a new superhero having gotten his powers a few mere months ago. He’s just started training and picking up hero duties and we know he’s not the strongest or best right now. We’ve seen him fail in his training and in his combat but for some reason Mark’s ability to fail stops at his relationship because he’s trying his best.

Amber finds out Mark is invincible a month or so before Mark tells her because quite frankly Mark is not good at hiding his identity, all she had to do was pay attention. When she does find out she doesn’t press him to tell her because she is waiting for him to reveal that he trusts her. He doesn’t and she finally reaches a breaking point when after ample enough time to tell her Mark disappears again and when she asks him for like the third fucking time what he was doing, he lies. AGAIN. THATS why amber broke up with him, because she opened the door for him to be honest again and again and he chose to lie.

An argument that you guys love to use is that Mark was doing this to protect her. I’m sure he thinks that’s what he’s doing, but amber knowing his identity doesn’t put her in danger, other people knowing marks identity would. if someone who wanted to hurt mark, say i don’t know his father, they could then find amber and hurt her. amber not knowing wouldn’t keep her safe, it would keep her ignorant of the danger. that’s not the same thing.

Then the excuse is that mark is a teenager so he’s not obligated to tell amber about his identity because they’re not serious, ignoring the fact nolan told debbie right at the beginning of their relationship. fine, but then amber isn’t obligated to be understanding that her boyfriend is constantly flaking and disappearing on her.

Amber is also a teenager but this fandom has decided she’s a vicious evil bitch for wanting honesty and attention from her boyfriend. Mark can keep his identity a secret but amber has to tell mark she knows the secret he’s been keeping from her?? just say you’re a hypocrite and go.

i don’t find it strange at all that you all love comic book amber who’s basically a white npc just there as a standin until mark gets with eve, but you hate tv show amber who’s black, assertive, and wants to be treated like a human being.

There are so many of you who think comparing a teenage girl to a literal genocidal maniac is perfectly logical and of course you do because you see all black women who aren’t docile and meek as a threat, it always just so happens that you hate black female characters.

Then of course you’re all pitting her against eve saying you can’t wait until amber is gone and i do see it as malicious, because without fail every time amber is brought up the discourse turns racist. i don’t care if mark and eve end up together in the show, they will never find a fan in me because of you racist weirdos.

Everyone in the show knows Mark was wrong, including mark and your precious eve. the show doesn’t agree with you because your wrong, if you still hate amber after reading this just know you’re doing it against logic.
