Here I am on the East coast of Australia showing a painting inspired by the other coast of this country, Western Australia. The beach I went reminds me of coral bay, Ningaloo reef. So while walking on the beach, I felt somewhat transported to the other side of Australia. Sharing this week some my art process. Making blue colours is one of my favourite parts. I use individual Petri dishes to create new blue hues. I called this photo “mini oceans” because each dish resembles a different colour in the sea. Note: the coral in this picture was collected on the reef for an experiment, with a permit. It is just a piece I had after the experiment. Chapter 11, done and edited ✅ Today, although I still felt quite sick, I managed to find a temporary writing spot among my house moving chaos, finished chapter 11 and draw a bigger sketch of my book’s main scenes. I am really keen to submit before leaving Townsville, but I don’t have big expectations that it will happen as life always finds a way to stop you. Like for example I didn’t expect getting the flu. Oh well! Who cares? Water. It wires my brain in a mysterious way. Monday, I walk along Ross river while I take my daughter to school. As I walk, I observe, I reflect, and reset. And as I observe the calm Ross river’s water, creativity strikes. A new idea pops in and I say: “I got it” I solve the problem of my book’s plot. This is not the first time it happens. Somehow, my ideas arrive when I do this walk along Ross river. I don’t believe in magic or gods but there is definitely something special about this river and the way it wires my brain as the water quietly runs downstream and shimmers by my side along the way. Today’s reef. I did this one after swimming teaching 😊 now it is time for a two weeks break. I will spend time with my girls but will try to sneak into my art studio. — My artwork explores ways to show nature’s beauty to create environmental awareness. I have a PhD in evolutionary biology and used to work with marine sponges and corals. I decided to “retire” at 37 to let the artist within me the opportunity to flourish. In a year, I have learnt so much and had the chance (finally) to practice my art and improved my skills. And I wrote a children’s book. Sharing a bit of my family life today. Sam (my partner) has been the editor of my research papers for more than five years. Now he became the editor of my children's books and blog's post on @outdoorhobbits. This is the reason why :) (see the photo). He is such a great editor of children books, because for almost nine years, he has read to our kids almost every night. I think he already read the entire collection of Roald Dahl's books and some of Enid's Blyton's stories. He recently read the far away tree to the girls because it was its favourite book when young.

I know most people hate Mondays but I love them because Mondays are my writing day. The day in which magic happens. I am currently preparing for a new deadline and worked on chapter one once more (now I have three or four versions of it).
