a/n: tbh not exactly the dream i had but close enough

This was a middle schooler's game, you told yourself as you watched the bottle whirl and blur in your vision, in a shoddy attempt to console yourself. 

This was a middle schooler's game, you reminded yourself as the bottlenose took its sweet time reaching a halt. 

This—how was this a middle schooler's game? How was kissing someone a middle schooler activity when you were nervous as a senior? You asked yourself through the thundering of your palpitating heart in your ears, eyes locking with Yang Jungwon's across the circle. Even amidst your friends' eruption, you couldn't seem to focus on anything but the fact that you were now being shoved into a closet with Jungwon, door slamming shut, lights clicking on. 

The snickers from outside were muffled and so were your thoughts. Your brain might as well have been stuffed with cotton. 

"Shit," Jungwon cursed as a broom nearly came crashing down on his head from where it had been hanging against the wall. You inhaled sharply as his hand slammed against the wall next to your own head, his face now inches from your own. 

"Shoot, I'm sorry—" he stuttered, reaching behind him to try and maneuver the broom back into place so you two had more room, but to no avail. 

You tried peering around to perhaps help him, but that only led to you almost knocking your heads together. "Damn, we couldn't have picked a bigger closet?" You giggled nervously, hands cracking your own knuckles as an anxious tick. 

It was not helping that you could smell the light cologne lingering on his clothes, nor focus with the vision of Jungwon's dark hair falling in his pretty eyes, his lips mere inches from your own. 

He sighed, giving up on the broom. "Sorry, I just—" He shifted slightly forward so he was no longer leaning over, but stepping into your space. His palm against the wall became an arm braced over your head. "I'm sorry, you're probably so uncomfortable."

"No, no," you shook your head on instinct, then flushed a deep pink when you realized how that might have sounded, "I mean—it's a little cramped in here, but it's not your fault, Won! No need to apologize so much."

Jungwon smiled at you and you could have sworn his eyes flickered down to your mouth. "'Kay, cool. There's also the fact that they're all expecting… something to happen in here, but it's totally up to you, too."

Ah, right. The whole purpose of spinning the bottle and being shoved in a closet—"privacy". In reality, all your friends probably had their ears pressed to the door, eagerly awaiting something to happen between you and Jungwon like hungry hyenas slobbering at their master's feet for a slab of meat. 

(The only problem was admitting that you did want something to happen between you and Jungwon. This was almost a dream come true scenario.)

You didn't quite know what to say, but he was still looking at you, maybe expecting an answer…

Wait. He said it was up to you, too. Did that mean that he wanted this—?

He must have seen the realization hit you, and a small, husky laugh fell from his lips. Had it suddenly grown ten times hotter in here? "Only if you want to, Yn," he assured you lowly, but how could you deny how enticing he sounded?

"Okay, yeah," you whispered, head tilting upward like an invitation. 

A breath of air in response—something akin to "thank God"—and he lowered his mouth to meet yours—

"AYE! TIME'S UP!" Followed by a disruptive flurry of knocks on the door killed the mood faster than a fly against a windshield on the highway. 

You laughed as you watched Jungwon grunt in annoyance, his eyes rolling, then shooting a dagger-filled glare at the door. "That was Niki, huh?"

Jungwon tipped his head back in a groan. "Yeah. That punk," he grumbled, wrinkling his nose in distaste. 

"Hey, love birds! You have to share the closet, y'know."

"I guess we have to go," you said. Your eyes met Jungwon's again, but he was reaching for the doorknob. Regret, and perhaps even disappointment, pooled in your gut. Damn, you should have taken your shot. 

Suddenly, Jungwon dipped his head to yours and pressed a chaste kiss to your lips. He pulled back, smirking slightly at your stunned, doe eyes. "That's my IOU, Yn. You owe me a kiss back, okay?"

Your eyes lit with giddiness, and Jungwon shared that same expression. When the two of you emerged from the closet and resumed your seats across the circle from each other, you definitely could not wait to cash in his 'I owe you'.
