Serving Up Disaster is a TTRPG about a famous yet divisive TV Chef visiting various failing restaurants across the country.
In this game, one player facilitates play, arbitrates the rules, frames scenes, and portrays the character of “Chef”. In each session of play, Chef visits a new location with a whole new restaurant, with the aim of helping its Staff change their bad attitudes, repair their broken relationships, and overcome their intractable problems, to ensure a successful relaunch night, and a bright future of the restaurant.
The other players act as the Staff of the restaurant, playing out their characters’ desires and disasters as they work with Chef to turn their business around.
This game was inspired by binge-watching too many episodes of Kitchen Nightmares, and builds on tools from the Brindlewood Bay game engine.
This is an ashcan version that I'm putting out to hopefully raise some funds to pay for a proper editior / layout artists etc.

Mad as Hell free Quickstart out now
Mad as Hell, our anti-capitalist demonhunting TTRPG, is set to launch in May this year, and in the lead up to this exciting campaign we have a Quickstart to share with you. This quickstart gives you a taste of the game, including six pre-generated characters and a grimy, waterlogged starter adventure - Something in the Water.
Grab a digital copy for free over on our webstore now.
We want Mad as Hell to be an exploration of activism and community that helps familiarise its players with the tools of activism. You not only have to defeat demons with metaphorical concepts of the specific quiet violence they relate to, but also stop it reappearing by protecting our local community from that violence. You can’t just defeat a demon of gentrification by spraying it with graffiti or throwing soil at it from a local allotment, you also have to take steps to protect the vulnerable people in the area and secure their housing and third spaces.
We want to get this game into the hands of as many people as possible, get them thinking about how to perform grassroots activism and get these people and their skills out into the world.
We (the SoulMuppet team - Zach, Tom, Eryk and Mol + Mad as Hell designer Evie Moriarty) met up with Caelyn from Rascal News to run an in-house playtest demo. Meeting in a local co-working space in Nottingham amidst our team meetings, Evie ran our game set in the very city we were in, using a scenario inspired by something that very nearly threatened the real-world Notts (minus the blinding, lamppost climbing demons). We highly recommend you read Caelyn’s full article about her time with the playtest.
Mad as Hell is set to launch in full glory May 2025, building on the quickstart with an expanded list of demons, full character creation and possibly SoulMuppet's sexiest physical book yet… (More on this soon!)
Please come follow the Kickstarter page there’s so much more coming in the core book! Detailed character creation to help you generate your own Radicals and their communities, a full Struggle Framework for running a long-form campaign in your city, and a whole panoply of demons of their various choirs, each relating to their own form of quiet violence.
If you've got any feedback, questions or just want to show your excitement join us on our Discord server and hop into the Mad as Hell channel.
Go out, get Mad as Hell!
