My lovely friend @patchodraws (peaktcho) has taken me up as a little beta reader for her beautiful lab partner fanfics,

A Soyona drawing based on a fic I'm writing

While I was watching I couldn't help but think about a possible parallel between the close ups of Brooklynn holding her prosthetic arm and then her holding the pipe that she used to get out.

She was given something by Soyona, and so she made that choice of being somewhat dependent on her - letting her choose her path in a way.

But as she uses the pipe instead of calling out Soyona, she finally is choosing her own path and not letting the other dictate her choices.

I love this scene so much as a conclusion to Brooklynn and Soyona's relationship.

Brooklynn's trapped beneath the rubble; she can't get out; Soyona is right there. All she has to do is call to her. Soyona might question how she got here, and Brooklynn might have a minor concussion keeping her from thinking up an excuse...but "I heard there was a setup and came to warn you" or "I heard gunshots" or "the Handler was going to kill me if I didn't take her to the Atrocriaptors" would have all been easy excuses.

But she doesn't do that.

She just watches Soyona walk away, and lets her go.
