I think more historical fantasies and alt histories that have gay marriage be allowed should mess around with the societal implications of this. If your aristocracy allows gay marriage, why? As a release valve for inheritance problems, like monasticism was in parts of medieval Europe? As a way of removing your failchild from the line of succession by legally binding them to the failchild of your political ally, ensuring any offspring they both have will be illegitimate? How about a society where the lower classes are allowed to be gay but the nobility aren’t? Idk there’s just a lot of options that are more interesting than “homophobia just doesn’t real”

when i tell my friends how good riverdale season 7 is but i have to start it by explaining why they are in the 50s which ends up with me explaining the riverVale labor rights movement and cheryl reincarnation powers and betty serial killer vibe checker and then i have to explain hiram exploding riverdale after his exile ..

I leave betty cooper at forever 17. One always finds one's pop's booth again. But betty cooper teaches the higher fidelity that negates the gods and raises milkshakes. She too concludes that all is well. This universe henceforth without a master seems to her neither sterile nor futile. Each atom of that pop's burger, each mineral flake of that strawberry milkshake, in itself, forms a world. The struggle itself toward graduating high school is enough to fill a woman's heart. One must imagine betty cooper happy.

riverdale is about a boy who can only conceptualize the world through violence (archie) and a girl who can only conceptualize herself through violence (betty) and a girl who can only conceptualize family through violence (veronica) and a girl who can only conceptualize love through violence (cheryl) and jughead who got abducted by aliens. and gay kevin who wants to direct the school musicalllllll

ughh i miss riverdale it should’ve had 20 seasons or more. it was cut down in its prime. they should’ve gotten to kill off jughead at least 6 more times. cheryl should’ve gotten to become president of space or something really really awesome like that. they could have retconned the supernatural elements and then reinstated them two seasons later to keep things fresh. they could’ve let archie be a beautiful lesbian for a while. they could’ve had gay kevin still being gay and kevin. the possibilities…
