Every scene where Dean and Amara are together Dean looks so lost and to me, almost scared. I’m not going to claim anything as fact just yet as I’m only halfway through this season but I don’t think Amara and Dean are supposed to love each other. And well, if they are, then the show isn’t doing a very good job at displaying that.

Amara is grateful to Dean for freeing her and maybe they have a connection because of that, and maybe she is so protective of him as he was her first impression of God’s creation, but I don’t think that is love (at least the romantic kind). Maybe to Amara, Dean represents all of her brother’s creation? Maybe that’s why she has a desire to protect Dean?

I feel like more than anything Amara has a hold over Dean of some sort. As I mentioned before her presence makes him look lost, and in this episode (11x13) he reveals to Sam how Amara effects him:

“Standing here right now? Every bone in my body wants to run her through, send her back to that hole she crawled out of. But when I'm near her... I don't know -- something happens. I can't explain it. But to call it desire or love -- it's not that. I'm screwed, man. We want to kill the Darkness. We need to kill the Darkness. And I don't think I can.”

Could it be Amara’s immense literal power over Dean? Or her connection with him that is so overwhelming? Like Dean tells Sam, it’s not love, and it’s not some deep desire. Perhaps Amara represents something; a part of Dean he feels ashamed of.. 🤔 but idk guys

Funniest thing spn could have done is have Dean and Sam keep their own hunters journals like John did but Sam's is a glimpse into his horrible little mind where he calculated exactly how much demon blood he'd need to drink to do various things to demons and Dean's is the equivalent of writing "Mr Castiel Winchester" in pink glitter gel pen over and over again

They lowkey kinda re-used the “oh no! One of us might be infected!” zombie virus cliché that they did with the Croatoan virus, at the start of season 11 with the Darkness thing.. and of course I loved every minute of it
