Vacation (EddieVR)
A/N: I'm just tweaking a few small details to make the story the way that I like it.
Eddie whistled to himself as he turned the truck into the long driveway. Looking in the rearview mirror, I could see that Gaege and Liv's faces mirrored Eddie's reaction. I had to agree with them. The boys had rented an AirBnB for the week, but it was a huge house that was set facing the ocean and had plants on either side of it to hide the neighbors. Eddie parked and got out so he could run around to my side and open the door for me. I thanked him as I stepped out and turned at the sound of an approaching car. Josh, Kristy, Mully, Grant, and Lindsey got out and we all just stood there for a minute admiring the house. That was quickly disturbed by Gaege saying, "I'm going to get the best room," and running off. The other boys shouted at him as they also took off running. The rest of us girls couldn't help but laugh and shake our heads.
"You think they'll be mad if we start unloading stuff and carrying it inside?" Lindsey asked, her hand resting on the trunk door. "Go for it," I replied as I turned and opened the tail bed. We began to unload our stuff from the two vehicles and walk them inside. I ended up in the bed of the truck to pass stuff down because Eddie had shoved some things way far back. As the other girls went inside with what was left, Eddie came out. "What are you doing up there?" He asked as he walked towards the truck. "Oh, I was just getting our stuff," I replied as I made my way to the edge of the tail bed. Eddie reached up, put both of his hands on my hips, and lifted me down to the ground. "You're supposed to wait for me, you know that's my job," he said as he began bringing the suitcases down.""Yeah, I know, but Lindsey started it." He laughed at that as he closed the tail bed and turned to kiss my forehead. With suitcases in hand, we made our way inside. The entryway was huge and nicely decorated so that the place didn't seem too formal. I looked up to see Gaege come running down the stairs with Grant hot on his heels. Gaege was shrieking dramatically as he ran into another part of the house, the sound echoing around him. Eddie and I shared a look before we shrugged and started upstairs.
Our room was at the far end of the hallway to the right. It was absolutely beautiful because it had floor to ceiling windows that showed an amazing view of the ocean. There was a large bed in the center of the room and there were also some plush chairs, a desk, and some soft rugs. There was an ensuite bathroom that had a big bathtub in it, definitely big enough for me and Eddie to fit comfortably inside. We would definitely have to try that later. We put our luggage at the foot of the bed and inspected the room for a little bit before going back downstairs. The lower floor had a big living room, a dining room, a library/study, and a kitchen. The kitchen was rather long because it had so many windows and a sliding door that led out to a whole pavilion with a pool and everything. Liv and Kristy were already reclining in sun chairs while a few of the boys were trying to drown each other in the pool. Eddie went to join them, doing a cannon ball that got everyone wet. The other boys started piling on Eddie as I joined Liv and Kristy to watch the spectacle. Lindsey joined us a few minutes later while Grant ran over to join in on the action.
They did this for several hours before it was dinner time and we called them out to get ready. Eddie quickly showered as I changed out of my dirty car clothes into something nicer and lighter. When Eddie came out clean and dressed, we met everyone downstairs and drove to a nearby restaurant. The restaurant was cute and it was set on a pier, so when we had finished eating, we decided to take a walk on the beach. I was getting a little hot, so I kicked my shoes off and waded a little ways into the ocean. My attention was wholly focused on the sunset and making sure to keep my skirt from getting wet, so I didn't notice Eddie taking a few pictures. After a few minutes, I walked out of the water to join Eddie, who wrapped his arm around my waist when I joined him. I leaned my head against his shoulder and sighed contentedly. "I think this is one of the most perfect moments, mi amor," Eddie said as he rested his head on top of mine. "I'll have to agree with you on that," I said quietly, enjoying the feeling of the breeze on my face.
The silence was broken by Josh and Mully yelling. I turned to see that Mully had picked Josh up and was trying to dump him in the ocean. Eddie started laughing at the sight. Kristy had hurried over and was trying to persuade Mully not to drop Josh. Eventually, he gave in and set Josh back on the sand, but not before he pushed him and took off running. Josh chased after him and then the rest of us decided to join in on the chase. It was kind of hard because the only traction we got was from the loose sand. When we got to the edge of the parking lot, I stopped, and Eddie turned to look at me quizzically. "I'm going to burn my feet on the hot pavement, but I don't want to put my shoes on because my feet are sandy," I explained. Eddie sighed dramatically but he came over and picked me up bridal style to carry me across the parking lot. He deposited me carefully in the passenger seat before he went around and climbed into the driver's seat. The drive back was mostly quiet, and when we got back to the house, almost everyone was a little worn out. Eddie and I said goodnight to everyone before heading upstairs to our room. Once we had changed, we just lay in bed together, watching the sunset, which bathed the room in a soft glow. It was very peaceful, watching through the window, my head resting on Eddie's chest while listening to his heartbeat. I soon drifted off to sleep.
I was woken up the next morning by Eddie planting kisses all over my face. I giggled as I tried to free myself of his grip. "Don't try to leave me!" He exclaimed dramatically. "You see me everyday," I replied as he managed to put me under him. "Yes, but I've been so preoccupied with work that I haven't had the time to fully appreciate you," he said, his face right above mine. I laughed lightly at his words and lifted my head a little to press a lingering kiss to his lips. "Fine, we can spend today being cuddly and shit," I said as I pulled away. Eddie smiled and let himself fall on top of me as he whooped in excitement. "I can't be cuddly and shit if you crush me," I pointed out. He laughed and rolled off of me so he could get changed. When he was done, he left and I quickly changed into a simple tank top and shorts. When I went downstairs, I found Lindsey was the only one of the girls awake in the kitchen. She smiled as I entered and asked how I slept. "I slept pretty well, the ocean breeze definitely got me," I replied as I poured myself a cup of coffee. "I'll have to agree with you on that," Lindsey said as she stirred her own coffee. "And I think it's still getting to me, which is why Grant and I might stay here when the others leave." I cocked a brow at her words and she continued on with, "The others wanted to go visit some place for cliff diving." I laughed at that suggestion before saying, "I think Eddie and I were thinking along the same lines as you two were." At that, Lindsey high-fived me and we finished our coffee.
We were joined a few minutes later by Kristy and Liv who said the guys were packing the car for the day trip. Lindsey and I told them of our plan and they told us to have fun before they left the house to get in the car. I went out the back door and saw Eddie lounging in a sun chair while Grant was floating in the pool. They were talking to each other when I came out and made my way over to Eddie. He wrapped his arm around my waist and brought me down to sit on the chair beside him. "Looks like its just you, me, Lindsey, and Grant today," I said. Eddie smiled at my words as he brought my legs up onto the chair. I laid down and burrowed into his side, our intertwined hands laying on his chest. Lindsey came out a minute later and joined Grant in the pool. The two of them lazily swam around for a while before they ended up on the steps cuddling up to each other.
The warm air coupled with the silence made me extremely drowsy. When Eddie noticed I was fighting to keep my eyes open, he chuckled softly to himself as he said, "Just go to sleep, mi amor," in a hushed tone. I let my eyes fall closed and stay closed, and soon Eddie fell asleep as well. I wasn't thinking about how in a few hours Eddie's feet would be burned because he was too tall for the shade to fully cover him. I wasn't thinking about how Liv and Kristy would take pictures of us sleeping together and post it when they got home. All I was thinking about was how nice it was to be sleeping next to Eddie, to be touching him, to have the most amazing husband in the world.

Hide and Seek (Jake Webber)
Colby, Sam, Kat, Corey, Devyn, Jake, and I were all gathered in the living room preparing to start a game of hide and seek. Jake was chosen as the seeker for the first round because he chose the short straw. As soon as he started counting, we all scattered. I hurried to the storage closet and climbed up the shelves, tucking myself into the far most corner and blocking the view with stacks of blankets. I could hear others shuffling past and a few hushed giggles before it became deathly quiet. "Ready or not, here I come!" I heard Jake shout, breaking the silence. I heard him moving things in the living room and jumping on the couches. When he had overturned everything, he made his way out into the entryway. "If I was a little five-foot y/n, where would I hide?" He mused to himself. He opened the closet door and my breath caught in my chest. He moved some stuff around on the ground, grumbled, and then shut the door again. I let out the breath I was holding and giggled quietly to myself.
There were a few minutes of silence before a loud girlish shriek echoed through the house. Devyn had been found. I heard her and Jake moving back into the entryway as he asked her, "Okay, do you know where anyone else is?" There was a pause before she said, "I think I saw where one person went...""Devyn, you have to tell me. You're on my team now." She sighed as she said, "Okay fine. Someone is in that closet." I cursed to myself as Jake opened the door. "This closet? I just checked in here," I heard Jake say. "Maybe you should set your sights higher," Devyn suggested. Jake began moving aside towels and blankets on the lower shelves and then began to make his way up until he reached my shelf. His hand poked through the stacks of blankets, so I smacked it. He yelped and quickly withdrew his hand before reaching back up and parting the blankets. "Y/n!" He exclaimed when he saw me. I laughed at his expression as I turned myself and slid to the ground.
"Okay, I found two of you, so that means four are left and I haven't checked the kitchen yet." Jake declared before he made his way to the kitchen. As he looked through the cabinets, I went into the pantry pretending to look for people. I grabbed a bag of chips and began eating them as I left the pantry. "Well there's no one in here," I said, my mouth full of food. Jake just stared at me as Devyn began laughing. He shook his head before leaving and heading up to the second floor. Up there, we immediately found Kat hiding behind the sofa near the stairs and Corey behind a bathroom door.
Jake had gone off to search in a different room, leaving me to search someone's closet. It was dark because I couldn't find the light switch, so I was left fumbling around. As I reached the back and began moving aside clothes, a hand shot out and wrapped around my wrist. I yelled and cursed as I fell backward onto the floor. I looked up and saw Colby emerging from the clothes, laughing hysterically. A second later, I felt two arms wrap around my middle and lift me up to put me back on my feet. Jake was standing over me, his arms protectively around me. "What happened?" He asked, an easy smile on his face. "Y/n was close to finding me, so I thought I'd scare her and go out with a bang." Colby explained as he wiped the tears from his eyes. "That wasn't very nice," I said, pretending to pout. "Even though that was funny, I was a little worried when I heard my girlfriend scream and curse followed by a thunk." Jake said, chuckling a little at the end. Colby nodded in understanding and then reached back into the rack of clothes to pull out Sam. Sam looked absolutely shocked since he didn't expect Colby to do that. Jake looked shocked and I burst out laughing. "Well I guess round one is done now," Colby said nonchalantly.
We all gathered in the living room again for round two, and Devyn was the seeker this time. When she started counting, Jake grabbed my hand and pulled me upstairs with him. We went into our room and Jake suggested I hide in the vent. There was a vent in our room near the ceiling that was big enough for me to fit in. He undid the latches on the vent cover before picking me up by my hips so I could crawl into the vent. "Don't give away my hiding spot," I said. Jake nodded before closing the cover and diving under the bed. I curled myself up in a little ball with my head resting against my arm and tried not to move.
Devyn found a few people downstairs before she made her way upstairs. I watched as she entered our room and checked the closet before she looked under the bed. I heard Jake groan in defeat as Devyn squealed in delight. "Now I just have to find Colby and y/n," she said to Jake as she left the room. Jake's eyes snapped over to my hiding spot as he left the room to help the others in their search. Colby was found a few minutes later by the door to the attic, leaving me as the only one left. "Is there anyone left?" I heard Colby ask. Someone told him that I was left and he said,"Seriously, she's left? Oh come on!" which made me laugh.
Devyn and the others spent a little while trying to find me before Devyn declared, "I give up.""You wanna know where she is?" Jake asked. I heard Devyn make an odd noise before she said, "You've known where she's been the whole time? Are you kidding me?!" Jake laughed as he led everyone into our room and he opened the vent cover. I waved at everyone as they all looked back in shock. Devyn threw up her hands in defeat and left with Kat trailing behind her. "That is a great hiding spot, man," Sam complimented me. I thanked him before the others left, leaving me and Jake alone. "Jake, can you please help me down since you put me up here?" I asked. Jake laughed as he responded with, "Sure," and came towards me. He reached up and got a hold under me before easing me down and I ended up in his arms bridal style. "Thanks," I said as I kissed his cheek. "Anything for my beautiful lady." I smiled as he set me down, closed the vent cover, and then we left the room hand-in-hand.

Scuba (Jake Webber)
I was tying off my air tank on the ship when I saw the three guys approaching. Sam and Colby had come to our dive shop a few days ago to get certified and their friend Jake had decided to tag along for 'moral support.' I honestly didn't mind as I found myself warming up to him and thought he was pretty funny. Sam and Jake were cracking jokes the whole way down the dock while Colby looked slightly stressed, though I couldn't blame him. Even though I was confident in my abilities from doing this for several years, I still sometimes felt a dull sense of panic. But I was fine, and Colby would be, too, because he would be partnered with Keline.
Once the three guys were on the boat, we casted off and were soon skipping over the waves. Keline did a run down of what we were going to do with the two guys and I sat next to Jake. We talked for a little while before the captain announced we were close to the site. I already had my wetsuit on halfway, so I focused on putting my gear together. I heard Jake laugh behind me, so I turned to see that Sam had fallen over trying to get his leg through the wetsuit. It was one of the funniest things ever.
Keline and I then checked their gear set up. "Sam! You forgot to turn your air on!" I called out. Sam froze and Jake beside him said, "Oh boy, that would not have been good.""No shit!" Sam exclaimed and I couldn't help but smile. "This is why we check things like this.""I can't even begin to imagine what would've happened otherwise." Sam said, his face slightly draining of color. "Nah, you would've been fine. We always triple check these things." Keline said as they clapped Sam on the back. Once everything had been put together, Keline was the first one into the water. I helped haul Sam up from his seat, slowly walk him to the edge, watched his stride off the edge, then I went back and did the same to Colby.
Finally it was my turn. I got the rest of my wetsuit on before I turned to Jake and asked, "Can you zip up my back? I usually have Keline help, but they're already in the water." Jake walked over and replied, "It'll be my pleasure," as he zipped up the back. I thanked him and then strapped on my gear before putting my flippers on. I shuffled to the edge of the boat, made sure my BCD was inflated, placed my hand over my goggles and regulator, then strode off the edge. I signaled to the captain that I was okay and then waved at Jake before swimming towards the others. Jake was probably going to find some game to play on his phone while we were gone.
When the four of us reached our descent point, we began our descent. The world around me was quickly silenced as my head went under the surface and I began the frequent process of equalizing my ears. We slowly made our way down the line until we had reached the bottom, which was at about 75 ft. Keline began leading the way and the rest of us followed. A few minutes in, I felt the familiar feeling of underlying panic, but I ignored it. We swam around for about half an hour before we decided to start heading back. It was great to see all the marine animals that live down here, but we only had so much air. We made it to the line and began our slow ascent, making sure to take a safety stop part way through. When we finally broke the surface, Keline and I made the guys go in front of us when getting back on the boat...just in case. Colby took his flippers off and passed them up to the captain before he climbed the ladder up, where the captain grabbed him by the top of his air tank. He walked Colby back to his seat, tied his tank off, and then went back for Sam. After Sam was Keline, and after Keline was me.
I walked back to my seat and got myself out of my BCD before I could tie my tank off. I managed to get the top part of my wetsuit off before I felt myself beginning to cry. I hastily tried to wipe them away, but they just kept coming. My breaths started coming in short gasps and I couldn't see anything. I tried to focus on the cool metal railing beneath my hands, but it didn't work. Suddenly, I felt a warm, rough hand on my bare shoulder. I looked up and saw Jake beside me, a concerned look on his face. As soon as he saw my face, he immediately made me sit down and took one of my hands in his, his thumb rubbing over my knuckles. His other hand was gently rubbing my back as I leaned my head on his shoulder. He rested his chin on my head and said, "Shh, it's okay now. You did it, you got through it, and I'm proud of you. It's over now and what matters is that you're safely here with me."
We stayed like this for a few minutes, Jake muttering soothing words the whole time, before I felt myself calming down. I let out a final shaky breath and used my free hand to wipe my eyes. I glanced towards the other end of the boat and saw that Keline was watching me. They gave me a little thumbs up and I offered a small smile in return. "There we go." Jake said once he had noticed I was calming down. "And look at that," he continued, "We're here." I gave him a little laugh before I stood up to take my wetsuit the rest of the way off and pack it away.
When we had docked, the guys were nice enough to carry the air tanks off the boat. Once those were off, I grabbed my bag of gear and made my way to the side of the boat. Jake was there and graciously held my hand as I got off. The two of us walked together to the main building next to the dock to rinse my gear off. While rinsing my gear off, Jake got a hold of the hose and began spraying me. I shrieked and tried to block the spray, but it didn't work. "Jake! Stop it!" He laughed but finally turned off the hose. I packed my stuff back up and Jake carried it for me to me car. I popped open the trunk, Jake unceremoniously tossed the bag in, and then we both sat on the edge. Sam and Colby were still near the main building with Keline, so I knew we had a few minutes to kill.
"Hey, I wanted to thank you for helping me earlier. I really appreciated it." I said as I nudged his arm. He smiled and took my hand in his own, giving it a squeeze. "I was happy to do it. I completely understand what you were going through.""I think I should keep you around every time I dive, because that's the fastest I've calmed down from that." Jake laughed slightly at my words and said, "Well, I've always wanted to be certified." I smiled at him before I allowed my head to drop against his shoulder, starting to feel tired after the long day. Jake held me closer to him and we enjoyed watching the waves until Sam and Colby were ready to go. Before he left, Jake pressed a lingering kiss to my knuckles and said he would see me soon before he hurried off, leaving me a blushing mess.

Haunted Castle (Colby Brock)
"What's up guys, it's Sam and Colby!" The two guys excitedly shouted at the camera. "Today we are here at the Blood Countess's castle to uncover the truth of what really happened here." Sam said ominously, staring intensely into the lense. "And on that note, we are joined by two lovely ladies...y/n and Kat!" Colby exclaimed, waving jazz hands around me and Kat. I smiled and waved at the camera as Colby draped his arm over my shoulder and Sam began to explain more of what we were going to do. I took a minute to take in the huge abandoned stone structure before me and I felt a slight chill up my back. Soon enough we entered the castle and did a walk through, pointing out all the unique features and certain spots that had a lot of activity. I loved looking at the old architecture, but Kat kept shuddering in every room we entered.
"Alright guys, now that we have done a tour of the place, we're going to start the investigations." Sam started saying. "We're going to split up. Kat comes with me and y/n goes with Colby." Colby cheered at this and smiled at me, excitement evident in his clear blue eyes. Colby and I were given the dungeons to investigate while Sam and Kat went to one of the main rooms on the second floor. We said our goodbyes and went our separate ways, Colby holding the other camera out in front of him to record our faces."So, y/n, what do you think we're going to find down here?" Colby asked as we reached the door to the dungeon. "Well, we could find a lot of the Countess's victims since she did most of the torturing down here or in her own room, which is where Sam and Kat are going." I replied as I began the descent, Colby kindly letting me take the lead. When we reached the bottom, I heard Colby suck in a breath as he panned the camera to show the whole room. This was definitely a dungeon. There were all manner of weapons and inventions meant for torture scattered about and a little doorway tucked into the corner. Through the doorway we found a hallway lined with cells, the bars old and rusted over. At the other end of the hall was an old wood door, a metal bar laying across it. "I think that door goes to the stables, which is how the guide said that she brought in her victims." Colby said as he walked towards it and shook it a few times. I recorded him walking about the two rooms and pointing out different things."So we're gonna get started now with the spirit box, and to make this more fun, I'm going to place a music box near the stairs." Colby announced as he set all the equipment up. Then we sat cross legged in the middle of the torture room and turned our attention towards the little box in front of us. "If there is anyone in here with us, please feel free to use this little device in front of to communicate with us. We're not here to hurt you, we just want to know your story." I said, my words quickly swallowed by the silence. A second later, the spirit box called out the name, "Sarah." Colby shot me an excited look before he said, "Sarah, thank you so much. Were you a prisoner here in this dungeon?" A simple, "yes," quickly came forth and Colby became more excited. We talked to her for a few more minutes, taking in as much as the spirit was willing to share. Then all of a sudden the words, "She's coming," blared from the speaker and the lights immediately turned off. I hit the button on my flashlight and the camera flashlight, but neither turned on. And then the music box near the stairs began to play.
"Shit!" I exclaimed, instantly reaching to grab Colby's hand in the pitch dark. "It's going to be okay." He whispered as he began rubbing his thumb over the back of my hand, his rings cold against my skin. The constant buzzing of the radio was giving me chills when all of a sudden a new voice was heard saying, "You shouldn't be here." It was a female voice and it sounded very powerful and angry. I was shocked, especially since whole sentences don't usually come from it. I felt Colby squeeze my hand before asking, "Elizabeth Bathory, are you here with us?" It was quiet for a moment before a menacing, "yes," reverberated through the room and I nearly shit myself. "You shouldn't be here." The ominous warning came again. "Colby, I think we should leave." I whispered. "I think we should at least try and talk to her." He replied. I couldn't see his face, but I knew he was afraid, too. "Elizabeth, will you please allow us to stay just for a few minutes? We want to hear your story." Colby said slightly louder into the darkness. What she said next made my blood run cold.
"I would listen to her if I were you. She is certainly beautiful enough to be next victim," the voice said and then I felt something stroke my neck, like someone running a fingernail across my skin. I screamed and jumped up from my spot on the floor, bolting towards where I believed the stairs were. My foot hit the first step and I fell forward, landing painfully on the hard stone. But I didn't have time to stop. I hauled myself up and threw myself up the stairs as Colby shouted after me. I reached the top and tried the door handle, but it didn't budge. I heard a slow shuffle coming up the stairs behind and I frantically pushed and jiggled the doorknob until the door opened and I dashed out. I ran all the way through the castle, trying to remember the way out. I heard Colby much farther back shouting my name, and then several seconds later I heard footsteps running above as Sam and Kat began shouting as well as they came down. I kept running, finally getting past the double wooden doors and into the cool night air. I finally stopped when I was in the middle of the courtyard.
I was shaking violently and gasping for breath, the tears on my face cooling as the night air hit them. Then I felt a deep throbbing pain begin radiating through my leg. I heard gravel crunching as the others came running out, and a second later I was in Colby's arms. As soon as he had me, I felt my knees buckle and he carefully brought us to the ground. I pressed my face into his chest and clung to him tightly as he made soothing noises and began to run his fingers through my hair. "It's okay, y/n, I've got you, you're safe now." We stayed like this for several minutes before Colby tried to adjust himself and I winced in pain. Kat noticed and asked,"What happened?" I told them what had happened, Colby keeping his arm tightly around me. When I had finished, the others were staring at me in shock. "Oh, y/n, I'm so sorry that happened." Sam said, sympathy written across his face. "We need to get your leg checked." Kat said firmly, giving the boys a pointed look.
She gathered our stuff as Sam started the car and Colby carried me into the backseat before he seated himself next to me. Once Kat was in, Sam pulled away and hurried to the nearest hospital. Every bump we hit sent a wave of pain through me and I squeezed Colby's hand each time. When we reached the hospital, Colby carried me inside and soon I had been seen by doctor and had a boot placed on me. They allowed me to go back to the hotel room that night and sent me on my way with painkillers. Colby carried me the whole time and I couldn't miss the worry all over his face. When we got back, he laid me gently on our bed as Sam rested my crutches against the bedside table before he and Kat said goodnight and went to their own room.
I allowed my head to fall back on the pillows as my adrenaline began to die down. Colby sat next to me and took my hand in his, staring at it for a minute before he said, "I was so worried about you. All I heard was that voice and then your scream. I didn't know what had happened and I couldn't see you. I couldn't even protect you. All I could do was shout your name and try and stumble around for you." He admitted miserably. My heart broke a little at how upset he was. "No, Colby, you did everything you could to comfort me, which is all you really could've done in that situation, and that makes everything better." I said as I laid my hand against his cheek. He gave me a small smile and then pulled my hand away from his face to press a kiss to my knuckles. "I'm so sorry that happened to you. No wonder you were scared shitless." I laughed slightly and then said, "I don't think I'm going to be joining you guys on adventures for a little while.""How about a long time? I am not up for a repeat of that any time soon." I laughed again and nodded in agreement. I heard Sam and Kat next door filming the outro for the video and couldn't help but sigh. "So guys," Sam was saying, "Kat is here in Colby's spot for the ending of this video. Colby is currently in the next room over with his girlfriend, helping her get comfortable after her injury and all that. You guys probably aren't going to see her in a video for a while because she needs time to rest and recover. She has suffered not only from physical injuries but also emotional distress. Anyway, please make sure to like and subscribe and we'll see you guys in the next video." And then there was silence. "Well, I think that's our cue to go to bed." I joked. Colby cracked a smile and then helped me get changed before he got himself changed. Once he helped me situate myself in a comfortable position, he climbed in to bed next to me and held me in his arms. I fell asleep like this, happy to be safely in Colby's arms.

Family Dinner (Colby Brock)
Colby's POV:
I sat in the back of Sam's car, watching the scenery change as we drove. Sam was driving with one hand on the wheel, the other holding his girlfriend's hand as they talked about a video idea. Kat's family was having a get together, so of course the invitation had been extended to me and Sam. I had to admit I was excited because Kat's family always had good food. After a while, we had finally reached the house and parked near the growing mass of cars. The three of us walked up the front stairs and walked right on in, immediately being greeted by the smell of spices and several people shouting in Spanish. As we made our way to the kitchen, Kat called out, "Mama, estamos aquí." Mrs. Stuart's head appeared in the doorway and she smiled when she saw her daughter's face. "Oh, mija, you look so pretty.""Gracias, mama. Is that Y/n I hear?" Her mom nodded her head and Kat rushed into the kitchen with the us following behind.
I entered the kitchen to see several women standing around the stove, most of them Latina, save one. She was hugging Kat tightly and looked up as Sam and I entered. She turned her attention back to Kat and asked, "¿Es ese tú novio?" Kat giggled and nodded before leading the girl over to the two of us. "Guys, this is my good friend Y/n. We've known each other since elementary school. Y/n, this is Sam and this is Colby." She said as she indicated each of us. "It's so nice to meet you two. Kat speaks very highly of both of you." Y/n said as she shook our hands happily. One of the other women shouted something at her, which made Y/n reply "claro" rather sarcastically before going back to what she was doing.
I tried to inconspicuously stare at y/n as Katrina and Sam talked to some other family members. I thought she was beautiful and loved the way her eyes lit up at a joke. Kat nudged my side after a minute and said, "Y'know, I'm pretty sure she's single." I couldn't help but laugh at this suggestion. "I'm serious. She's so amazing and kind, just give it a try and thank me later." I playfully rolled my eyes as Kat wandered off. Several of the women in the kitchen dispersed, which allowed me to actually hear myself think and hear y/n just as she laughed at something. The two women around her were dying of laughter as Y/n quickly picked a fresh tortilla up off the floor. She blew on it and then added it to the pile of tortillas on a plate, which drew an exclamation from the others. "Ah, ah, ah, regla de los cinco segundos." She said to them before catching my gaze and shaking her head laughingly.
She turned her attention back to the other tortillas on the stove and began flipping them with her fingers. I moved closer and said, "You're crazy for doing that." She laughed and looked up at me as she said "I don't really notice it anymore." I returned her smile and asked, "So how did you get wrapped up in all of this?""Well, they practically raised me and it's always so much fun around here.""I can absolutely agree with you on that." I replied. Y/n smiled at my comment before taking the last of the tortillas off the stove, putting them on the plate, and holding out towards me. "Do you mind taking these to la mesa in the back, por favor?" I nodded my head in agreement and headed towards the backyard, plate in hand.
Y/n's POV:
I leanedagainst the kitchen window for a moment, watching Colby walk across the yard, avoiding the multitude of kids running past. As he put the plate down, Sam clapped him on the back and said something, which made Colby smile. Before I could wonder what they were talking about, I was called back by Tía Nicole, who seemed to smirk with a knowing look on her face as she told me to add the seasoning to the meat. After several more minutes, the food was done and we carried it outside, calling for everyone to come eat the whole way down. Conveniently, Colby ended up sitting next to me. Most of the time was spent talking to him, laughing at his jokes, getting to know him, and occasionally his hand would brush mine in an attempt to reach something. I liked looking into his deep blue eyes, they were such a pretty color that suited him.
When dinner was done, he helped carry dishes inside, and when he went back out for more, the aunts pounced. "Oh he's so cute!" Tía Ashely started, lightly bumping me with her hip. "He couldn't keep his eyes off of you. You two would be so cute together." Tía Victoria chimed in as she appeared behind her sister. "You like him, I just know it! Mira! You're turning red!" Tía Nicole said excitedly as she set down the dishes she was carrying. She turned towards me and took my hands in hers as she said "I think he's a good choice. Un bueno hombre, y/n." I smiled at her words. My head turned towards the door as it opened and Colby stood there, looking slightly dazed. "Kat wanted me to tell everyone that dancing is going to start." He announced. I felt my face light up at his words and shared a look with Tía Nicole. "You go on down, we'll be there in a minute." She said. I grabbed Colby's arm and practically pulling him out the door as mi tías shouted, "Buenas suerte!" I was very excited as I hurried along because I loved to dance. I pulled Colby with me as people began to get into position. "What's going on?" Colby asked. "It's bachata. Don't worry, just follow my lead and you'll be fine." As the music started, I began to lead Colby through the quick pace, feeling butterflies in my stomach whenever he touched me. He took a bit to catch on, but when he did, he was pretty good.
We spent the rest of the night dancing and laughing, eventually stopping when it became late and people started heading home. I walked with Colby to Sam's car, Sam and Kat a little farther ahead. "Thank you for an amazing night." I said, a smile working its way onto my face. "Well thank you for teaching me so much." He replied, returning the smile. "We should hang out again sometime." He ventured on, which I agreed with and then suggested we exchange phone numbers. When we reached the car, I said goodbye to Sam and Kat, hugging my best friend tightly. Then I turned towards Colby, pressed a kiss to his cheek, and said "Buenas noches, Colby." He took my hand and lightly kissed my knuckles before replying "Buenas noches, y/n."

A Man Loved His Wife (Julian Blackthorn)
I hummed softly to myself as I rearranged the trinkets resting on the mantlepiece. It seemed that Mark had been fascinated again. I smiled at the memory of the faerie boy the first time he saw them laid out. They had been a wedding gift from Aline and Helen since they didn't have much use for them nor the room for them, so we were the next best option. Julian liked them because they were so intricately designed and he would study them for hours. Mark, on the other hand, would hold them, searching for some semblance of his mother. Yes, these trinkets belonged to the late Lady Nerissa. Jules had objected at first, but Helen had insisted, so we accepted them. Now they are proudly displayed on the mantlepiece, showing another aspect of our family.
I move through the rest of the Institute, straightening things left and right, and making sure things are generally in place. I stopped outside the doors to the library when I saw that they were cracked open. Poking my head in, I saw my daughter, Zarina, sitting on the floor, her attention focused on the large wall mural. I silently walked over and joined her on the ground, my eyes beginning to follow the lines of the work. Each stroke was purposeful, each color the right shade to give the work life. It was a series of scenes, but each one had the same two people: a man with brown hair and eyes as blue as the sea and a woman with flowing hair and a graceful smile. Beautiful in every aspect of the word.
"Mommy?" The little voice beside me practically whispered, unwilling to break the serene scene. "Will you tell me a story? Maybe about this painting? I've never heard you really talk about it." I smiled wistfully to myself and nodded. "Do you know why this was painted?" I asked, drawing my attention away for a moment to look down at Zarina. She shook her head, her dark curls moving with her. "It came to be because a man loved his wife. He had a gift unlike any other; the ability to paint great masterpieces that even the most skilled artisans could not even come close to. He used this gift to paint his wife from time to time because he believed her to be the most beautiful thing in the world. He wanted the world to know of her grace and elegance. He cherished her more than any man could cherish his wife."
I stopped for a second, staring at the carefree face of the man on the wall, his eyes only for the woman. "Were they real people?" The little voice next to me asked. "Oh yes, very real.""What were they like? How did they meet?" I smiled at the eager questions before I continued on. "The man and the woman were both great shadowhunters. They were from ancient and powerful families; the man from the Blackthorn line, the woman from the Fairchild line. They were never destined to meet, until Fate took matters into her own hands. They were thrown together by a storm, the Institute of the man the only shelter around for the woman. They grew close in that time, and after many years, they married. They headed their own Institute and made it feel like home. The man filled it with art to bring it to life and the woman filled the home with life made by her. And they were happy for a time.
And then came a time, a very dark time, when a force unknown to any being came alive and attacked without mercy. It mauled every Institute it could get its hands on, including the one where the man and woman lived. They fought bravely, but it got to their little lights, extinguishing them one by one. And then it extinguished the man. Driven by grief, heartbreak, and love, the woman vanquished the dark force. She was left alone with only one little light left out of the many she had made. And she nurtured it. As she did, her husband's memory stayed alive through his art, each one now more dear to the woman. She was always proud of what he did and honors his legacy in any way she can."
As I finished the story, I let my eyes fall down to my little girl beside me. She was staring up at the mural in awe and wonder, her eyes raking over the two faces. "Who were they, mommy?" She breathlessly asked. I kissed the top of her head and let out a soft laugh. "That is something you will get to learn when you are older. As for right now, I believe that it is time you go tidy up your room." Zarina sighed as she stood and left the library, leaving me alone to my thoughts. I stood slowly, my eyes never leaving the images. My hand moved of it's own volition and came to rest over the image of the man. "Oh Julian," I said, my eyes gazing once more into the blue depths of the man's eyes. "She will know it is you one day, and that these people alongside you are her ancestors. She will be proud to bear the name Zarina Blackthorn-Fairchild. Our little light."

Lake Day (Bucky Barnes)
The day was warm and sunny, a perfect day to spend at the lake. Bucky threw his car into park in the little parking lot and the two of us made our way down to the water's edge. Surprisingly, it wasn't very busy. There was only a family there that had set their stuff up farther away. We laid our towels out so I could sit and finish the book I had brought with me. It was such a good book, but I was continuously being interrupted every time I picked it up and was super frustrated at this point. However, before I had even started, I got distracted. Bucky had chosen that time to take his shirt off, revealing his toned and muscular chest. He balled the shirt up in his hands and turned to look at me, laughing when he saw the look on my face. I blushed slightly before he tossed the shirt at me and made his way to the water. He tied his hair back into a little ponytail as he strode in until the water reached his waist and then dove under. I turned my attention back to my book and began reading as Bucky did his laps.
Half an hour later, I had finally finished my book and tucked it safely into my bag. I stood up and began to rid myself of my cover-up. As I shimmied out of the last part, I heard a low whistle behind me. I turned to see Bucky walking over, dripping wet and his hair perfectly messy. I giggled as I turned my back to him and tucked away my cover-up. His hands came to rest on my hips as I straightened up and he said, "My, my, my. What do we have here?" I giggled again as I turned around in his arms to look at him. "I could say the same about you," I replied, my eyes lingering over his torso before looking up to match his gaze. He grinned broadly as he asked, "So are you ready to come join me now?" I nodded my head and his grin widened. I felt a sense of horror wash over me as I realized what that look was for. "Bucky, don't you dare do what I think you're about to do," I warned.
He paid my words no mind as he quickly picked me up bridal-style and began carrying me towards the water. "Bucky, no!" I cried out, trying desperately to get out of his grasp. My thrashing around did nothing as he continued to carry me in his strong arms. Soon enough, I felt the cold water enveloping me and I shrieked. And then Bucky dunked me. When I surfaced, Bucky was laughing his ass off and wiping tears from his eyes. I threw all of my body weight towards him and his eyes widened in shock before we both went under. This went on for a little while before he got a hold on me and wrapped his arms around my waist. I allowed my arms to wrap around his neck and rested my head on his shoulder. "God I'm so lucky to have you," he said in a low voice. I pressed a kiss to his shoulder in reply. It was very peaceful in that moment; being in Bucky's arms, the gentle lapping sounds of the water around us. I felt lucky to have him, too. Eventually, he moved my legs around so that he had one arm under them and his other arm was supporting my back. I clung to him as he carried me out of the water and back towards our stuff. We quickly toweled off and then tied the towels to our waists before beginning our walk back the car. Bucky carried my bag in one hand and held my hand with the other. Once we were back in the car and driving away, Bucky took my hand again and pressed a lingering kiss to my knuckles. I smiled and rested my head against the back of my seat, lazy contentment taking over me and soon sleep.

Darling (Loki Laufeyson)
Loki's POV:
I strode purposefully down the hall, my gaze wandering in and out of the rooms I passed. I stopped at the doors to the library and popped inside. "Y/n, are you in here?" I called as I looked around for my wife. She always loved to be in here, especially since this was where we had spent countless hours before we got together. I found her asleep on a couch, her head resting on her arm and her book on the floor. Her other arm was loosely wrapped around her pregnant stomach. I knelt on the ground beside her and gently smoothed her hair away from her face. Her e/c eyes opened slowly at my touch and she gave me a sleepy smile. "Hey you, what are you doing here?" She asked as she rested her hand over mine. "I was looking for you, darling." I replied. She yawned and began to sit up, so I offered her my hand. She took it and gave me a grateful smile. "I was just doing some reading up for Strange's project." She said as she stood and stretched.
She stopped and grimaced, her hand coming down to hold her stomach. "What's wrong?" I asked, concern quickly taking over. She tried to wave me away, but her hand came out to grip mine tightly. I gently lowered her back onto the couch and searched her pained face. After a minute, she took a deep breath and her grip loosened a little. "It's just the little one kicking a bit hard." She said. "I'm so sorry, darling. I never wanted to put you through this pain. I-" "Loki, I promise it's okay. I knew what I was doing and I knew about your Jotun descent when I made this decision. I love you and these little pains mean nothing if it means we have a healthy baby." I brought her hand to my lips and kissed her knuckles. "I love you, too, my love." She smiled at my gesture and allowed me to lead her from the room.
Y/n POV:
I sat on the bed, my back against the headboard and my hands folded over my middle. I absentmindedly fidgeted with the wedding band around my finger and smiled fondly at the memories associated with it. Our wedding day had been a smaller affair with just our close friends and family, but it was perfect just for us. Three years after we had married and I found out I was pregnant. I remember the day I had told Loki. As soon as I had told him, he had started to freak out a little. He paced all over the room, wringing his hands and worrying about how he wasn't going to be a good dad. I had just sat there in the chair, watching my husband lovingly. When he had stopped, he knelt at my feet and held my hands and asked how I could be so calm. I had laughed and said I was nervous, too, but I wasn't going to freak out because we had faced so much worse. He had looked at me with tears in his eyes and told me how happy he was.
I was pulled from my reverie by a knock on the bedroom door. Loki entered and sat by my feet. He gave me a slightly confused look as he asked, "Why are you smiling like that?" I laughed lightly at his question. "I'm just remembering all the great memories we have together. And now, with little one on the way, we'll have so many more." He smiled and leaned forward to kiss me. As he pulled back, I asked, "So why are you here?" He mocked offense at the question and pressed a hand to his heart. "That's a very rude question." I laughed and said, "You know what I meant." "Well I came up here to tell you that Banner wanted to see you. Something about another check-up." I sighed but moved my feet off the bed and took Loki's outstretched hand to haul myself up. "Will you walk me down there?" I asked him sweetly. He smiled and bent his head to kiss my hand. "Anything for m'lady."

Save Me Pt. 2 (Bucky Barnes)
TW: Abuse
My hand was tightly gripping Bucky's metal one as we drove. He kept shooting glances in my direction and would squeeze my hand in return every few minutes. And then I saw the house. If I had been holding Bucky's real hand, it would have broken at that moment. He pulled the car into the driveway and parked, but didn't get out. He turned to look at me as he asked, "Are you sure about this?" I nodded my head, my eyes glued to the house before us. He sighs as he brings my hand to his lips and presses a kiss to my knuckles. I meet his gaze as he says, "Please be safe.""I will, I promise."I climb out of the car and walk the path to the front door. I wipe my hands on my jeans and knock on the door, very aware of Bucky's eyes on me. Then the door opens and there stands my dad. When he registers who's standing before him, he smiles and hugs me. I stiffen slightly but he pulls away after a quick second. "Y/n, sweetie, it's so great to see you again. Who's the friend?" I follow his line of sight to Bucky and his car. "Oh, he's a friend. He offered to give me a ride here." I wave at Bucky, the signal that he can leave. He waves back and then reverses out of the driveway and leaves.
My dad opens the door a little wider and ushers me in before closing it behind us. The house looks exactly the same as when I left, minus the kids. My other siblings had all grown up and moved out, but nothing had been touched since. I made myself comfortable on the couch while dad took the seat opposite me. He seemed pretty unchanged, too, just a few more white hairs. "So, how's work? Are you enjoying it?""Yeah, I am enjoying it. There's something new everyday and I have some great colleagues." I say, smoothing my hands on my jeans. Dad quirks his brow at the last part and asks, "Is that guy one of your colleagues?" I nod and he sighs before saying, "Well then no wonder you think your colleagues are great, he looks like a bad person and I know how you're attracted to those people who are bad for you. He didn't even come out to greet me or anything." I take a deep breath as I reply, "He was in a hurry, his mom was expecting him." My dad waved away my excuse and switched the topic, leaving me feeling slightly insulted.
We talked for a little longer before he stood to make dinner, leaving me alone in the living room. I pulled my phone out of my back pocket to see a few texts from Bucky. He was asking if all was okay so far, so I gave him a thumbs up. Eventually, dad said dinner was ready and I joined him at the table. It was a very good meal, but when we had finished, dad asked me to do the dishes. "While you may not live here anymore, you are still currently under my roof and you need to be humbled a bit. Now go clean the dishes." I stared at him, dumbfounded, before I uttered a soft, "Ok," and carried the dishes to the sink. As I washed them, I saw my dad go to the fridge and take out a big beer bottle. I sighed. Another part of him that had not changed. When I finished, I rejoined him in the living room and we sat in an awkward silence for a while. "So, y/n, why has it been 7 years since you've been here?""Oh, y'know, I've been busy with all of my work and extensive traveling that comes with it.""See, that sounds plausible, but I don't think that's why." I felt my mouth go dry at his comment and I asked, "What do you mean?"
He stared me down and took a swig of his beer before replying. "You're avoiding me because you think I'm a bad person. It's all because of that terrible mother of yours. When I was busy working my ass off to support this family, she was turning my own children against me." It was silent for a moment, and in that silence I heard the ghost of his shouting. "I don't think that's what happened at all." He scoffed and took another swig. "Of course she did it, it's in her manipulative nature. She's a real bitch." At those words I felt my face grow hot. "How dare you call my mom that. She was a much better person than you."I pretended to scratch my back but I actually hit the button on my phone that called Bucky. He would need to hear this conversation. My dad became slightly red in the face. "Oh don't even. She manipulated all of you because she victimizes herself. I can't help being a little grumpy after spending all of my time working." "A little grumpy?" I laughed incredulously, "You were abusive. You shouted and hit us and have left us traumatized. You're the one victimizing yourself because you're so narcissistic.""I will not be talked to like this in my own house!" He shouted, his face a brilliant red color now. "I don't live under your roof now, you can't control me," I said as I stood up.
Dad stood up as well and the glass bottle came crashing down over my head. I stumbled a little at the blow and then I felt blood begin to trickle down my face."You fucking bitch," he screamed at me. He slapped me hard across the face and the force behind it brought me to the ground. There were stars before my eyes when I noticed his foot coming towards me. It made contact with my gut and I curled in on myself. He kicked me a few more times, screaming profanities at me. He knelt down next to me and grabbed me by the hair to lift my head, making it feel like it was on fire. "You are an absolute bitch and will never amount to anything, you worthless piece of shit. You're just like your mom." He practically spit out, pulling my hair more and making me cry out.All of a sudden, he let go of my hair and I let my head fall. Through my blurry vision, I saw Bucky holding my dad, beating the shit out of him. He left his unconscious body in the corner before he came for me. He knelt beside me, his face appearing very worried. "Hey, doll, you're gonna be okay, I've got you." He said, but his voice sounded far away. I couldn't get my eyes to focus and breathing was hurting. Bucky picked me up and hurried out of the house, laying me gently in the back of the car before speeding off. During the drive, I passed out.
When I came to, I was laying on a bed in the med bay, Bucky asleep with his head on the edge of the bed and clutching my hand. I moved my thumb lightly over his knuckles and he was instantly awake and alert. "Y/n, how do you feel?""I feel pretty achey and I hurt all over." At my words, he gave me a sad smile before pressing a gentle kiss to my forehead. "My brave girl," he murmured, resting his hand against the side of my face. I relished his touch and nuzzled his hand. "What happened to my dad?" I asked after a moment of silence. "Thanks to your little phone call, coupled with your current state, we had enough evidence to get him locked away for life. He can't hurt you anymore." At Bucky's words, I felt a few relieved tears fall. He saw and he drew me into his arms, rubbing my back comfortingly. "I've got you, doll, and he will never hurt you again." I buried my head in the crook of his neck and felt the weight of being afraid for so long lifted off of me. I kissed Bucky again and he smiled into the kiss, his hand slightly gripping my waist. Neither of us were perfect, but as long as we had each other, we'd be alright. And that's all I needed.I did something new and wrote a pt. 2 for once! If you guys have anyone you wanna see next, let me know and any ideas for a plot if you have one.

Save Me Pt. 1 (Bucky Barnes)
TW: Talks about mental health issues
I stood there gripping the edge of the sink, my knuckles turning white. The voice in my head seemed to reverbrate as it picked up volume until I couldn't hear anything around me. "You're so weak, just grow a backbone. God you're so pathetic, just stop being a little bitch. I expected better of you, but you're a disappointment like the rest of your siblings." The voice, of course, was my father's. Even if I had escaped his house, I couldn't escape what he left me with. I clapped my hands over my ears and knelt to the ground, the yelling starting to pierce my skull. Then I felt a pair of hands over mine and the voice just stopped. I opened my eyes to see Loki kneeling beside me, concern evident on his features. I slowly removed my hands and he returned his hands to his lap. "Are you hearing him again?" I nodded my head slowly. He sighed and said, "There is only so much I can do, y/n. You need to tell Bucky, he can help you so much more, and he's your boyfriend for Odin's sake." I twisted the edge of my shirt as I heard him out. When he was done, I plastered a small smile on my face and said, "Let me think on it." Loki studied me for a moment before he gave me a sad smile and a brief hug. He stood and left the room, leaving me alone on the bathroom floor.
I got up and went straight to my bed, huddling under the blankets. Bucky wouldn't be with me tonight, he was on a mission, but he would be back tomorrow. I couldn't tell him my problem. He would think I was weak for being troubled by such a small thing. He went through so much more and needed someone to be there to help. Nobody would ever get better if we both had problems that needed fixing. I laid in my bed, my thoughts eating at me until I realized that the sky outside was starting to lighten. I groaned slightly and practically threw myself out of the bed. I tugged on one of Bucky's sweatshirts that hung like a dress on me and trudged towards the roof-access door. I opened the door, but stopped when I saw someone else was here. It was Bucky. His back was to me so I could see his broad shoulders and well-built figure. Both of his hands gripped the railing as a slight breeze ruffled his dark hair. And then the fucking door slammed shut behind me. He turned at the noise and smiled when he saw me. I walked towards him and was immediately engulfed in a hug. When he pulled away, he took one look at my face and his smile disappeared. "Did you sleep at all last night?" He raised his hand and I couldn't help but flinch slightly. He noticed. His hand froze and he looked both hurt and shocked. I mentally face-palmed myself and moved to lean over the railing. The breeze had picked up slightly and was brushing against my face. I felt Bucky hesitantly rest his hand on my waist and turned me slightly to look at me.
"Are you okay?" With those three simple words, I just broke. I began crying and Bucky pulled me into his chest. I buried my face as loud gasps and sobs escaped from my mouth. Bucky rubbed my back, his head nestled in my hair as he made soothing noises. When I felt like I had enough control over what was coming out of my mouth, I pulled away slightly to look Bucky in the eyes, still very much within his grasp. I told him everything between shaky breaths: about my dad, my thoughts, and why I didn't want to tell him. When I was done, Bucky didn't say anything, he just pulled me back into him. "I'm so sorry that happened to you and that you have to deal with this. I hate that anyone made my girl feel like this." He whispers, his grip on me tightening slightly. "But, I also don't like how you didn't come to me sooner. I'm an expert at these kinds of things." I sighed as I said, "I'm sorry.""No, doll, you shouldn't be sorry. What matters to me is that you told me now and I can help you."I looked up at him and asked, "Really?""Of course, what kind of boyfriend (much less person) would I be if I didn't help you and make you feel better?" I smiled at him, feeling lucky to have him. "How are you supposed to get better if you're focusing on helping me get better?" He shook his head at my question as he said, "We'll help each other, that's what we do. I've got you and you've got me. We'll grow together." At his words, I kissed him. I felt him cradle the back of my head to deepen the kiss. I pulled away for air and I whispered, "Thank you, Bucky." He leaned his forehead against mine and whispered back, "Anything for my girl."

Beauty From Destruction (Loki Laufeyson)
Loki's POV
I sat there in the jet, my disinterested gaze falling on the panels on the walls. Captain Rogers and his band of imbeciles were talking closer to the cockpit, reviewing their plan for how they were going to capture this person they were after. I wasn't participating in their little chit-chat because I knew my part and didn't have to be reminded of it every five seconds. "Hey, reindeer games, you wanna get ready? We're almost there." I turned to glare at the insufferable tin man before I stood and joined the others at the door."I still don't know why I had to come." I grumbled. "Because this person we're dealing with seems to be having fun with her little magic tricks, and that's your specialty Mr. Magic Man." Stark said without turning back towards me, instead choosing to keep his eyes trained on the ground below flying past us. After a few more minutes, Steve began yelling at us to jump as we were over the jumping point. I simply drifted down to the ground, unlike the puny mortals who simply just fell. I was going to laugh, but it quickly died in my throat when I took in the surroundings. It seemed like a desolate wasteland.
Everything had been flattened and burned, and the few trees that were still somehow standing were extremely thin twigs of charcoal. Everyone seemed to be affected by this atmosphere because they all remained silent, even Stark and his quick remarks, and they took in their surroundings. After a moment, Steve cleared his throat and said "Alright, let's get moving." We began our trek through the woods, passing all manner of burned and destroyed things. I liked guessing what each thing was before it had been reduced to ash. I had to admit, whoever did this seemed pretty powerful and there was some beauty in what they had done. Eventually, we reached the crumbling remains of several stone buildings. The earth was scorched in a circle around the remains and we could sense this was where our person was. "Let's do a sweep of the area. Stay close and be careful." Steve called out. I slowly strode through the remains, eyeing the charcoaled remnants. "You getting a feel for this person?" Stark asked as he joined my side. "They're a force to be reckoned with, I'll admit." As soon as those words left my mouth, the ground opened up beneath me and I fell through, the last thing I saw was Stark's bewildered face.
I tumbled down, hitting the sides and anything else along it, before I hit the ground hard. A melodic laugh filled my ears as I picked myself up. "Really, I never thought I'd see the day when the great god of mischief was in awe of my work." I lifted my head to see where the voice came from and was met by the sight of a woman before me, hovering off the ground. Her eyes sparkled and a wicked grin graced her lips. In an effort to regain my composure, I said "Well it's not every day I see someone who's power could be somewhat close to my own." She laughed again and then began to circle me slowly as she levitated. "So this is who earth's protectors send when they can't handle someone." "I beg your pardon, I am their first choice. I am better than all of them combined!" "Of course you are, Loki." She said as she landed in front of me. I reached to grab her, but she disappeared in the blink of an eye. She reappeared a few feet away, lazily lounging on a dangling tree root. "Now, now, Loki. I'm not that easy. I want to talk to you just a moment more." She practically purred from her perch. I eyed her, feeling myself becoming captivated by her. She was different from most people I had met and had an air about her that drew me in. "Do you know why your little Avenger friends are after me?" I shook my head because I honestly didn't know, they had only mentioned she did magic. "It's because they don't understand the beauty in the things I do and how I haven't really done anything wrong, they just like to be in control of everything." She said, suddenly appearing inches from my face. I stumbled back, startled, and she smiled to herself. "But I'm sure you already knew that." She said as her piercing and inquisitive eyes stared into my very soul.
I shrugged nonchalantly as I knew she was right. Insufferable Stark liked to be in control of everything along with his bumbling band of imbeciles, claiming to protect the world. She looked at me thoughtfully for a moment before she said "I quite like you. I wish we could talk more, but it seems like our time is up." In that instant, a hole broke open in the ceiling with Stark, Steve, and everyone else jumping through, ready to fight. A simple snap of her fingers produced a ring of fire around her feet that began to spread, licking at and destroying everything it touched. Stark tried to put it out, but his attempt seemed to make the fire angrier. Her eyes found mine and she said "One more thing, Loki. As acquaintances, it is only fair you know my name. You may call me Y/n, and I hope to see you soon." With those parting words, she disappeared and the fire raged."We have to get out of here!" Natasha shouted. We all scrambled out of the hole, and once we were at the surface, we felt the ground begin to shake and then break off. We ran as Stark was shouting stuff into his communicator. A minute later, the helicopter came down and we threw ourselves in and took off just before the ground beneath us crumbled away. Later that night, the news called it one of the worst earthquakes ever and said that it might have opened a natural gas deposit because of all the burning. As I watched the footage of the giant crater that extended for miles, I couldn't help but smile at the thought of Y/n and wondered when I would have the pleasure of seeing her again.

Protector (Loki Laufeyson)
TW: blood and beating
I grunted as another kick landed against my ribcage. The man standing above me chuckled menacingly as he began to pace again. "So, Y/n, do you want to tell me about that little secret serum you're working on?" I raised myself up despite the agonizing pain that shot through my body and said "Fuck you." The man's demeanor quickly changed and he glowered down at me before reaching down and wrapping his hand around my throat. He lifted me up and smacked me against the wall. I let out a groan and said "That's gonna leave a mark in the morning." "Believe me, you're not going to see the morning." Then the man punched me in the face and stars began to fill my vision. I felt blood flowing down my face and before I could ready myself, he landed another blow to my gut. This was repeated for several minutes and I was fighting to stay awake. The man stopped for a moment and asked "any last words?" I sighed and spat a bloody stream of saliva at his face. He howled in disgust before raising his fist to deliver the final blow, but a loud thud outside caused him to freeze.
All of a sudden the door was flung open and the man was grabbed from behind, which resulted in me being flung across the room. My back hit the stone wall hard and I crumpled to the ground. I couldn't find it in myself to move and as I stared back, I saw the broad frame of a man in green and gold uniform coming towards me. He dropped to my side and cradled my head in his lap and began to shout at some other people. He then picked me up and began to leave the room. As we hurried through the hallways, I began to heave up blood. I heard the man talking, probably to me, but it sounded very muffled and far away. Everything seemed to be swimming in front of me and I couldn't make out much. As we broke out of the underground bunker, I felt cold winter air hit my skin and saw a dim light before I blacked out.
I opened my eyes again to find myself lying on a very soft bed in a room I was very familiar with. My whole body ached and I could barely move my head, but I could move it enough to see my boyfriend, Loki, pacing the room silently but anxiously. His green and gold cloak was thrown haphazardly over a chair and he was left in his black shirt rolled up to his elbows and his pants. I groaned and Loki stopped. He rushed to my side and collapsed to his knees on the floor. "Darling, how are you feeling?" He asked, concern and tiredness evident in his voice. "I feel like shit." I croaked out. Loki chuckled softly to himself before gently resting his hand on my cheek. I could see that it made him upset to see all the injuries I had. "You were incredibly brave, my feisty little firecracker." I smiled at the nickname before my body was wracked by a coughing fit. When I wiped my mouth, blood could be seen on the back of my hand. Loki's face changed and I looked up at him with concern. "It's okay, Darling, Bruce will get you all fixed up. He didn't do it when you were out because we didn't know when you would wake up." I furrowed my brows at this comment and whispered "How long have I been out?" "3 days." "Have you left here at all?" Loki shook his head. I looked at him more closely and noticed the way his hair seemed to be in complete disarray and how tired his face was. He also looked like he hadn't showered since the rescue mission."Would you like me to tell Bruce you're awake?" I nodded my head and watched Loki hurriedly leave the room.
Fifteen minutes later I was being gently carried to the infirmary. I was laid on a table and given a numbing shot before a sheet was constructed between my head and the rest of me. Bruce began to get to work fixing the internal injuries and Loki stayed near my head, carefully stroking my hair and offering words of encouragement. When Bruce was done, he stitched me up and told Loki not to do anything to it for at least 12 hours. I was given pain medication before I was carefully carried back upstairs and back into Loki's bed. As he tucked me in, I asked "Why am I in your room?" He looked down at me and said "You're staying here until you're all better so I can protect you." I smiled up at him before grabbing the front of his shirt and pulling him down to press a kiss to his lips. The rest of the evening was spent with Loki sitting on the bed next to me, reading in his soothing voice. I eventually fell asleep and Loki resigned himself to the floor, afraid to even sleep next to me for fear of somehow hurting me.
When I woke up in the morning, I felt absolutely disgusting and knew Loki must be feeling the same way. When he woke up, I suggested that we bathe. "Are you sure?" He asked as he picked himself up off of the floor. "I don't want you overexerting yourself." I rolled my eyes and pouted and Loki sighed and said "Fineeeeee." He quickly filled the tub with warm water before he came back into the room and picked me up. He carefully helped me undress and get in the tub before he got himself undressed and slipped in behind me. He began to gently wash my hair and body, which made me feel so much more at ease. When I was done, he quickly cleaned himself and got out and put clean clothes on. As he reached for me, I protested and said "I can stand up on my own. I'm not helpless y'know." "But Darling I don't want you to hurt myself." "Well I'm going to hurt myself by not moving at all. It's part of the process of healing." Loki looked at me dubiously before he sighed in defeat and offered me his hand. I accepted it and shakily began to rise from the tub. Loki wrapped his other arm around me to give me more support as I stepped onto the tile floor. I leaned myself against the wall, and with the help of my boyfriend, I began to slowly get my clothes on.
It was during this time that the pain medication began to wear off and I felt a wave of pain spread through my body. I bit my lip hard as I was getting my pants on and my grip on Loki's shoulder tightened. He looked up to see pain written across my face and quickly picked me up and placed me on the bathroom counter. "What is it, Darling?" "Pain" was all I could manage to gasp out. Loki reached behind me to grab the medicine Bruce gave him yesterday and a cup of water. I quickly downed it and held on tightly to Loki's extended hands as I rested my head on his massive shoulder. "It hurts so much" I whimpered. "I know, Darling, I know, but you are so incredibly strong." And so we sat there for fifteen minutes, me sitting on the edge of the sink, shirtless, while pressing Loki's hands down on either side of me and resting on him. Finally, the medicine kicked in enough that I only felt achey. I released my hold on him and put my shirt on before I was picked up and placed in bed. "I think it's time for a nap after all that fun." Loki said humorlessly as he wrapped the blankets around my body. My hand reached up to grab his wrist and I asked "Can you please sleep with me this time? You're not going to hurt me and it'll make me feel better." He looked down into my pleading e/c eyes before he climbed in beside me and hesitantly drew me into his side. I rested my hand on his chest and burried my head into his shoulder. As I drifted off to sleep, I muttered an "I love you" and received a kiss on my forehead in return.

Comforter (Bucky Barnes)
TW: panic attack
Bucky's POV
I sighed for what felt like the hundredth time that day as I entered the Avengers Tower. I made my way into the living room and was greeted by Clint and Steve. "How'd the chase go, Buck?" Steve asked. I rubbed my eyes and grumbled out "It was completely stupid. We caught the guy easily, but there was so much paperwork. I'm just ready to lay down honestly. Speaking of, have you guys seen Y/n?" Both of the men shook their heads. "Last I heard she was in some huge meeting with a lot of people." Bruce said. I winced knowing how much Y/n hated large crowds. I waved at the other guys before heading upstairs to my room. I rubbed my eyes tiredly as I opened the door, then froze. The room was dark and several items had been knocked off their shelves. The bathroom doors were haphazardly open and all the blankets had been thrown off the bed. I cautiously entered the room and did a thorough sweep before I entered the bathroom. It was here I stopped when I saw what was before me. Y/n was sitting on the floor, knees drawn to her chest, and she was shaking uncontrollably.
Y/n POV:
"Y/n?" I heard a voice say. I raised my head slightly and saw the concerned look on my boyfriend's face. Then I began to cry. Bucky quickly dropped to my side and pulled me into his lap while making soothing noises. "Hey, hey, hey. Focus on my voice, okay? You are perfectly safe right now." I buried my face into Bucky's chest and tried to regain control over myself. Bucky began running his hands through my hair while humming softly under his breath. I shuddered slightly as I let the rest of the sobs go and allowed the sound of the humming to calm me."So what happened today?" Bucky asked after several minutes of silence. "I had to go to this meeting with a lot of people and it was a lot noisier. I've kinda been struggling all day...I guess it's just one of those days where your mind seems to get to you more. Anyway, there were so many people talking at me and the space seemed to be getting smaller, so I quickly excused myself, left, and then ended up here." I said as I finally pulled my head back to look at Bucky.
He took my tear-stained face in his hands and pressed a kiss to my forehead. "I'm so sorry you had to go through that. But I'm here now, so how about we go lay down, maybe watch something, and not think about today at all. Okay?" I nodded my head and let a small smile out. Bucky smiled down at me before he kissed me again and helped me stand up. "Why don't you go ahead and change and I'll be back in 2 minutes.""Okay." Bucky left and closed the doors behind him, leaving me to change. I quickly pulled on my p.j.s and climbed into our big bed. A minute later, Bucky came back carrying two mugs of tea and put them down beside me. He changed into a t-shirt and sweatpants before joining me in bed. He handed me the remote and I chose a fun little tv show. As it played, Bucky wrapped his arm around my shoulder and I burrowed into his side while holding my cup of tea. A few episodes later I was fast asleep. Bucky smiled down at my sleeping form as he took the cup from my hold, placed it on the nightstand, and laid me down. He adjusted himself beside me and my hand instinctively rested on his chest. "Goodnight Y/n. I love you." He whispered as he, too, drifted off to sleep.

Daddy's Got You (Alec Lightwood)
Alec's POV:
I stood in the control room, papers and books strewn before me as I pointed out different things to various people. Sometimes these people could be so incompetent. When the last person had scuttled off I thought I finally had time to finish my work. Man was I wrong. My attention was drawn away from my work by a piercing wail followed by a string of muffled curses. A second later Jace came hurrying into the room, panic evident on his face as he haphazardly cradled a baby in his arms. My baby to be exact.
"Jace, what the hell did you do?" I asked as I hurried to meet him and save my daughter from his dangerously unprepared arms. "I was just trying to make her smile with some funny faces, and it was working for a little while, but then I made a face that I guess she thought was scary and turned into a banshee," he rushed out. I stared at him incredulously for a moment before I asked, "And how exactly did you get a hold of her? I told Izzy to watch her." Jace scratched the back of his neck nervously as he replied, "See the thing is that Simon did something stupid and Izzy had to go help, so she thrust your little demon spawn on me and said she'd be back in no time. She also said not to be seen by you."
I mentally facepalmed myself as I growled out, "Clearly I can't trust any of you with my child." Jace threw up his hands in self-defense and backed out of the room. I turned my attention back to the crying infant in my arms and moved her so she was supported against my chest. I began to bounce a little and rub her back as I said, "Shh, shh, shh. It's okay, Ramona, daddy's got you," in a soothing tone. Eventually she calmed down and I felt her little face burrowing into my chest as her tiny fingers held my shirt. She looked up at me for a moment, yawning, and I saw her blue eyes, the same ones her mom has.
Y/n's POV:
I hurried down the hallway to the control room. I had just run into Izzy, who breathlessly told me the whole story of what happened with Simon, Jace, and my daughter. I knew Alec could not be happy right now. He was so protective over Ramona and only trusted two people to watch her. As I rounded the corner, I stopped short at the sight before me. Alec was standing in the middle of the room, giving orders over the baby's head while cradling her in his arms and being extremely gentle. My heart couldn't handle how adorable this was.
I made my way over to Alec and gently rested my hand on his shoulder so as not to scare him. When he saw me, his expression softened and he smiled softly. "Hey you, how's it going in here?" I asked as I let my other hand rest on Ramona's little back. "It's going good, though Jace practically throwing my child around like a roller coaster was not the highlight of my day." I laughed at his response as I met his gaze. With no words needed, he carefully drew Ramona's fingers from his shirt and transferred her into my arms. I stayed still for a minute as she readjusted and then she went back to sleep. I looked up to see Alec's eyes full of pure adoration. That is, until he turned his attention to someone behind me. I turned to see Jace walking towards us and Alec moved a little closer to me. "Hey guys, are we having a nice little family get together here?" I felt Alec bristle behind me and I rolled my eyes internally. "What do you want know?" I heard him ask. "Woah there, no need for the aggression.""Oh yeah, sure, like you didn't just try to drop my baby," Alec sarcastically replied. "But I didn't." Jace ventured.
Alec silently glared at him as I sighed and said, "Maybe from now on you can just watch when someone else is with you.""Sounds good to me, your little one has quite the lungs." I chuckled quietly as Jace smiled before his eyes shot up to Alec quickly. "How long do you think he'll be mad?" He asked, not taking his eyes off of my husband. "You'll probably be fine tomorrow.""Perfect," he declared before he hurried off. I turned around to face Alec as he said, "I'm so whipping his ass during training tomorrow.""Of course you will," I said, my hand going out to run his arm before returning back to resting on Ramona's back. He sighed but he couldn't help the smile on his face as he leaned down to kiss me. "Well Mrs. Lightwood, what do you say to an early end to work and a nap?""Well Mr. Lightwood, I'd have to say that that sounds wonderful to me." Alec chuckled as he put his hand on the small of my back and led me to our rooms.
