I headcanon Rhina to be the biological daughter of both Crescenta and Emily (Em being trans). At some point Emily disappears in Rhina's life, due to some unfortunate circumstances between her and Crescenta.

After her "disappearance", her mom makes sure that Rhina never shows her "grotesque" mer features to anyone, forcing her to cover up her ears with her hair and making sure she wears very modest clothing that covers almost all of her body.

This of course causes Rhina to be hella insecure, just for her hybrid features.

Headcanon:

Emily, after retaliating her own wife, together with her confidant Berry, would be punished by Crescenta, her own damn wife. By using one of her 'most beneficial spells' she turned her beloved into stone, just because she was trying to do the right thing... She was then displayed outside of butterfly castle, with of course some minor modifications to her ears and body, as a monument to commemorate the (hella long) alliance between the Waterfolk and the Butterflies (She's basically the stone mermaid statue from the beginning of Crescenta's chapter). Poor Rhina never get to see her mom again, thinking that she had disappeared to some unknown place and possibly abandoning her.

It was only years later after her mother Crescenta passed away, that Rhina would learn the truth. She was only 6 years old, when this had happened.

Illustrations I did for the Magic Book of Spells! While most of the illustrations in the book were done by the very talented Devin Taylor, I did get the opportunity to illustrate one chapter. I wanted Estrella’s chapter to look like a sketch book. She’s an artist who likes to go out and sketch from the nature on Mewni as well as in important meetings (just like me!). Estrella’s writing is also my own handwriting! You can get your own copy of The Magic Book of Spells here!

More headcanons I have for my Kyalin as Korra’s parents AU

- Lin is constantly surrounded by the two most talkative people ever. Kya and Korra could talk nonstop about the most random things. Lin will just sit there silently as they talk but she is still 100% listening to everything they say. They are the only people in the world allowed to talk her ear off.

- Kya is the baker, Lin is the cook, and Korra isn’t allowed to touch a single kitchen appliance

- Lin wakes up extra early every morning to go on a jog before work and always brings back some kind of pastries from their favorite bakery across the street

-Korra always goes to sleep very late and sleeps in for half the morning, Kya is in bed by 8 every night and is awake by 5am, and there is very little proof that Lin actually ever goes to sleep

-Korra’s puppy eyes don’t work on Kya because she basically invented puppy eyes herself, but they do in fact work on Lin so the two of them often team up against her to get what they want. There is a 99.9% success rate

-Lin is brutally honest at all times and has no filter mainly because growing up she could never get away with Lying anyway because her mom always knew so she doesn’t see the point in it anymore.

-Kya is also honest but not in an offensive way but in a tmi kind of way. Korra went to her for advice on things girls liked so that she could woo Asami and Kya kind of forgot she was talking to her 17 year old daughter and was telling her things that Korra never wanted know about her parents ever doing.

-As you can imagine getting “the talk” from both of them was something Korra would never recover from
