Family Inspiration Meme by Hellion92

(Wasn't able to place a screenshot of Barnaby and my art of Annabel into the circle in a way that I was satisfied with so I used the art I made of the two a while ago instead)

Cozy Glow and Tirek (My Little Pony: Frienship Is Magic): Annabel and Barnaby share a very strong relationship and simular to Cozy and Tirek's mix of father-daughter, teacter-protégé and partner in crime dynamics.

In both cases, the elder villain is initially annoyed by the girl's overly sweet self-expression but he does get fascinated by her deviousness and abilities, and, in spite of some clashes of their equelly manipulative minds, the two trust one another and stick together at almost all times.

Niffty and Alastor (Hazbin Hotel): Annabel has really a positive view of Barnaby and is happy to be around him, showing no sense of fear, discofort of hate, despite his reputation. In turn Barnaby treats Annabel like the closest relationship he has, not minding her cheerfulness towards him and her invasion of his personal space.

Barnaby is very fond of Annabel and finds her as really fun and endearing as well as feels thrilled by her "twisted little mind".

Webby and Scrooge (Ducktales 2017): Annabel admires Barnaby a lot and does everything to feel like a part of his family, which eventually happens as they get closer and Barnaby learns to respect and admire Annabel for her spirit and skills. He gives her the honor of addressing him using familial terms, accepting her as a partner and a family member. However, eventhough Annabel heavily idolizes Barnaby, she isn't afraid to point out his mistakes or take the initiative regarding the events happening to him. Also, she's very protective of her father figure.

Jinx and Silco (Arcane): Annabel and Barnaby have a complicated father-daughter bond. Barnaby took Annabel in and grew to care a lot for her as saw himself in the girl. He began to raise her by praising her skills and trying to help her let go of her painful past. The two are rather caring and protective of one another and, despite the small unheathy moments in their dynamic of Barnaby trying to be a bit controlling and Annabel putting her dad in the position of physical vunurability, hold on to the feeling of mutual understanding, comfort and validation.

(Doing Annabel's My OC In Symbolism meme got me in the mood to present my inspirations for her, which I took a different template for since this one is not restrictive with the space)

Pretty Little Dutch Girl: This children's nursery rhyme is the inspiration for Annabel's character and story, following Babes in Toyland (1997)'s principal of the majority of characters being based on nursery rhymes.

Rika Furude (Higurashi no Naku Koro ni): Like Rika, Annabel is a little girl, wise and polite beyond her years, who displays a very adorable manner but has a more mature and calculating mind than people expect and a heart damaged by many past hardships but one that is still hopeful for a happy ending. In the pursuit of their sympathetic goal of reaching a fullfilling, joyful life with people they care about, both girls have to come up with unconventional plans that can involve manipulation and morally questionable and borderline or even outright illegal actions.

Chibiusa (Sailor Moon): Much like Chibiusa, Annabel is a sweet, upbeat, cheerful, lovable but often misunderstood little girl with a strong attachment to her future father figure and dislike for people being nosy about her business. Both are naturally curious, open to experiences but have a fear of being unloved due to how much pressure they have to carry on their backs because of others' expectations but, despite everything, still manage to find their own self and receive love and acceptance the way they are.

Cozy Glow (My Little Pony: Frienship Is Magic): Simular to Cozy, Annabel appears very sweet and innocent, but is more intelligent and manipulative than she lets on in public and is capable of troubling unchildlike behavior. But, opposed to Cozy who weaponizes friendship without initially giving thought to its virtues and using it to gain power, Annabel weaponizes love for the sake of looking for mutual love and people who would care for her, only seeking superior positions to perform actions she believes would benefit the person she cares about.

Lotso (Toy Story 3): Just like in Lotso's case, Annabel's manipulative approach is the result of the feeling of a heartbreaking betrayal she felt from people she cared about and who she thought cared about her. Though, unlike him, she didn't give up on the search for a person to have a stable mutually loving relationship with.

(Originally, I wanted to include the Fauna category as I have an idea for an animal, but decided to do the Scent instead because I thought the explaination for the latter is more character lore-relevant.)

Color

Bright Red is a vivid, intense shade of red that is often associated with energy, passion, love, excitement but also power and danger, traits which are all present in Annabel's personality and the fact her design has one of the brighter shades as primary color evokes strong emotions and draws attention she desires.

Flora

Red Rose are often associated with love and affection, and even self-sacrifice, which can reflect Annabel's emotional nature, as well as her desire for connection with others. In addition, relation to a red rose gives an impression of a charming and attention-grabbing presentation. But, as they say, every rose has its thorn, and Annabel certainly has character traits that make her dangerous and disturbed.

Scent

Annabel usually smells like Stationery both because she is rather organized artistic type who draws, crafts and makes notes and also forges documents needed for her plans.

Object

A Locket is a small decorative case that holds a sentimental item, often a photo or keepsake, which can represent Annabel's  personal nature and her desire to keep special items close to her heart. Lockets are often given as a gift, symbolizing love and affection, like how she desires connection with people. At the same time, a locket is a protective item that keeps things hidden, which can reflect her desire for control and her secret manipulative side.

Song

Love Me, Love Me, Love Me by Kikuo is a song about the feeling weight of perfection hanging heavily upon one's shoulders while in desperate search for mutual unconditional love and it fits Annabel's character and story really well as she tends to go to great lengths and endure struggles in her hopeful quest to find and keep a person who could return her love enough for her to feel truely happy despite the painful experiences of her feelings not being recipricated and the risk and messiness seeking love poses.

Feeling

Annabel's personality revolves around Love and it is essentially both her strenghth and her weakness: her loving personality makes her a very pleasant and admirable person, but her emotional nature and need for other people's love can lead to her losing herself to the desire of being loved by them, which can only be prevented by the feeling of betrayal the people who are not fit to be in her close circle tend to cause. The pain from betrayal also made her more her more manipulative about giving and recieving love, which can hurt her connections with people, but it also proved to be a good instrument in finding the person who managed to handle the amount of love she both craves and offers.
