Parties weren’t America’s thing. They were always crawling with too many people, all looking to make annoying small talk. There were very few positive things about parties, but if you looked hard enough, you were bound to find a couple. This party, for example, had free food and a few of America’s friends in attendance. It was enough to make her come out, even enough compel her into a half assed attempt at a costume, but it wasn’t enough to make her wear a mask. She wasn’t the only one wandering around maskless, of course; some people, like her, simply weren’t into that sort of thing.
Spotting Kate at the snack table --- an image which didn’t surprise her very much, if she was being honest --- America moved to join her, offering her a smile.“So,” she said, motioning to Kate’s costume, “what’s this?” She couldn’t be expected to recognize every pop culture reference on every version of Earth!

invisibilityiskcy‌:
“Don’t tell me there’s a universe out there where anti-invisible goggles are a thing, or I’ll be out of business,” Sue retorted. Reed had spent nearly a decade at this point surveying Sue, trying to explain her invisibility, and he had done an amazing job. Physics was not her area of expertise, but she knew enough through her various research projects to understand what he was saying - that she shifted through wavelengths to make her imperceptible to the human eye. There were ways around that, surely, but so far no villains had been able to find them, and at least she would still have her shields. “My son, too!” Sue argued, unable to keep herself from laughing. “I convinced him yesterday that fruit salad is absolutely delicious, and way better than a burger. He went along with it for a solid three minutes.” It had been a new record, and something Sue was proud of!
Tumblr media
Franklin had been a surprise, he had been a difficult little guy to bring into the world, but there wasn’t one part of her son that Sue regretted. He was one of the biggest blessings in her life, along with the powers that had been bestowed upon her by what she believed to be fate, and the family that surrounded her. She was insanely lucky, she had a wide support system, and a hundred and one intellectually stimulating projects going on at any one time. America was a little more detached considering the extent of her dimension hopping power, and that was why Sue was so determined to make sure the girl knew that she had a home at the Baxter regardless of how long she was away. That kind of thing was important, Sue knew. “I can’t decide whether to be offended or not,” Sue said. She wasn’t sure if she cared about cooking enough to bother being irritated! “Are we good to go now, or do you want to debate the terms of our arrangement a little more?” Sue asked, a grin on her face as she spoke.
“I haven’t checked but, honestly? Wouldn’t be surprised.” There were so many different universes out there, it was pretty impossible for anything to be impossible. The multiverse was a vast and endless place, after all. Somewhere out there, there had to be anti-invisible goggles. Of course, America would never bring a pair to 616. It would be incredibly dangerous introducing said technology to a universe where it didn’t belong, particularly for someone like Sue, who would face many a threat if they fell into the wrong hands. Sue would probably be fine, of course --- her powers extended far beyond her invisibility --- but it would cause her unnecessary issues, and America wasn’t about to do that. “Oh, so Richards, Grimm, your brother, and a seven year old. I’m sorry, you’re right, that is impressive.” America was clearly amused at the concept.
Tumblr media
Children had never been something America considered for herself. She wasn’t a kid person, and she doubted she ever really would be. Her lifestyle wouldn’t permit a family, and she had no intentions of changing it. Still, she couldn’t pretend Franklin wasn’t one hell of a kid. He was smart --- which was no surprise given his mother --- and a lot calmer than other kids she’d met. He was a cool kid, and America didn’t think she was being biased in saying that Sue had done one hell of a job raising him. “Offended by the truth? You’re better than that, Storm.” America grinned, eyes bright with amusement. “Nah, whatever. A favor from the Invisible Woman is more than enough incentive for me. You need a coat? Pretty sure it’s winter there.”

‘‘Yep. I’ve always been smart enough to avoid ‘em. Mostly anyway. I have been caught out a few times after a few questionable nights at the mansion.’’ he sighed, it had been a while since he had ‘partied with his people’ for lack of a better description and he was really getting bored with the average drunken nights he’d been having lately.
Bobby chuckled lightly to himself when the girl spotted the boy he was talking about. ‘‘You actually think that kid has the balls to hit on you? there’s more chance of me hitting on you right now- and no offense but that’s never gonna happen’‘ He smirked to himself. Flagging down the closest bartender to their table, getting bored of waiting.
‘‘I’d prefer to not wait and just talk and drink instead.’ he shot America a wink before ordering ten shots of tequila and two vodka sodas.
Tumblr media
“You live in a mansion?” America studied the man carefully, brows raised and an undeniable curiosity seeping into her expression. He didn’t look like one of those rich tech bros who made millions off smart watches that would’ve been considered antiques in other dimensions, but he didn’t strike her as the ‘mooch off rich mom and dad’ type, either. Maybe he squatted in an abandoned mansion somewhere --- America wouldn’t have even been surprised. She’d seen weirder.
Glancing back to the bar, she shrugged. “You’d be surprised how confident men get when there’s alcohol involved.” A lot of guys figured they were entitled to a conversation, something America had never taken kindly to. “Oh, trust me, I’m not offended. You? Not my type. Neither is he.” Glancing back to the bar, she nodded to the other bartender, a blonde woman with a tired smile and bright eyes. “She is.”
She had to admit, she kind of liked the guy. He wasn’t a bad conversation partner, and the fact that he had no plans to hit on her made him automatically preferable to anyone else in the bar. “I like to get a person’s name before I do ten shots with them. I’m America. Any jokes you’ve got about that, I’ve already heard.”

◐ kate
[ ◐ ] america is having a sleepover with kate.
Nights like this really weren’t rare. Kate was America’s best friend, and best friends spent a lot of time together. Sometimes, that time bled over into the night. She didn’t feel like going home, and Kate didn’t feel like kicking her out, and it wasn’t like the bed was too small to hold them. America had been in Kate’s bed a million times before, and while none of them were the way she often preferred to be in a woman’s bed, she wouldn’t have traded them.
Exiting Kate’s bathroom, America finished rubbing a towel against her head before tossing it at Kate playfully. “You’ve gotta get better water pressure,” she commented, walking over to sit next to Kate on the bed. “It’s shit in there. What movie are we watching?”

✪ daisy
[ ✪ ] america & daisy are stuck in an elevator together.
Honestly, America should’ve seen it coming. She wasn’t the luckiest person alive, and she rarely took elevators, so it only made sense that the one time she got on one, it stopped entirely between floors. It could’ve been a lot worse, of course. America’s powers ensured that she was never really ‘trapped’ anywhere, regardless of the situation. More importantly, she wasn’t alone on this particular elevator. Raising an eyebrow, she turned to Daisy.
“You know,” she said, “it could be a bit before we’re up and moving again. No telling how long, really. Might have to find some way to pass the time...” She trailed off, smirking lightly.

‘‘Frazzled? You’ve clearly never seen a frat boy with a hangover…’‘ Bobby joked. Not entirely sure where he was going with this exact topic, but hoping the conversation would just find it’s way eventually.
His eyes rolled with her mention to the lack of capable staff around the place and she wasn’t exactly wrong. There was a reason Bobby had chosen to work at this particular bar and the fact that it was such a dive had something to do with that.
Turning his head slightly to look around at the bar he smirked to himself and turned his attention back to America. ‘‘-Well, if you want my advice just keep staring at the guy in blue behind the bar. He’s new here and gets weird about hot girls staring at him so he’s bound to just race over and cater to your every need…’‘
‘‘And if that doesn’t work, then i guess we’ll just have to sit here in silence and wait for some service.’‘
Tumblr media
“That’s not an accident,” America snorted, shaking her head. She tended to avoid frat boys whenever possible, which she felt was fair. They were almost always irritating. “Besides, something tells me you’re not hungover in a bar.”
Honestly, America wasn’t much of a bar person. There was nothing fun about hanging out with drunken strangers, particularly not when your metabolism ensured you had to spend a fortune just to get drunk yourself. Some nights, though, she couldn’t help but find herself in a place like this one. She was never sure if she was looking for someone to fight or a girl to go home with, but she never had much trouble finding either.
Raising a brow, America followed the guy’s gaze to a particularly overwhelmed looking bartender. It was pretty clear that he was new, even before the man said it. The guy looked like he had no clue what he was doing. “And get hit on by some bartender who thinks he’s got a shot at getting lucky? Doesn’t sound like my idea of fun.”
She smirked as she looked back to him, tilting her head slightly. “I’ve always been pretty decent at silence, but it can get kind of boring. No reason we can’t talk while we wait.”

invisibilityiskcy‌:
“Only if I’m visible,” Sue replied good-naturedly, a smile on her face as she did so. There was no part of her that doubted America would find some kind of way to see her even when she was invisible, if only to prove a point. Both of them were stubborn in that way, and it was part of the reason why their friendship continued to flourish. There was a certain tenacity that was required to jump through a portal while not knowing exactly where you were going to end up. “You really undermine my subtle art of persuasion, America. I’ve been practicing it for a good thirty years at this point!”
Tumblr media
Sue often worried about balancing life as a super-hero, and her role as a mother and protector. She was concerned almost every day that she would become like her father, the absent parent figure that showed up occasionally only in therapy sessions, but she liked to believe that she was giving Franklin the kind of life that few kids could even dream of having, dimension hopping included. “Well, I will obviously make you some of my famous macaroni and cheese,” Sue said, knowing rightly that was the only dish she made that wasn’t charred at the edges, and even that was only blind luck. “Other than that, I’m free to suggestions. Are you in the market for a favour from the Invisible Woman, America? I promise she’s good for it!”
“I’ll figure out a way to look at you regardless,” America replied, breaking into a grin now. She figured it was probably impossible to see Sue when she didn’t want to be seen, even for someone as resourceful as America. Sue had a way about her, an uncanny ability to achieve whatever she set her mind to. It was something America admired, even if she didn’t voice her admiration aloud very often. “Who have you been practicing it on, though? Richards, Grimm, and your brother? None of them exactly have wills of steel, Sue.” Especially not when it was Sue working to persuade them of something, America would wager. She figured the men of the Fantastic Four didn’t need much convincing to agree with Sue, largely because they were a fairly intelligent group of people.
Tumblr media
America had always figured Sue was capable of pretty much anything. Even if you ignored her powers --- which were intense and incredible, seemingly with very little limitation to them --- she was beyond smart, and seemed to be able to adapt to just about any situation with ease. She was a superhero, a title difficult enough to carry on its own, but she was a mother on top of that. She was more, too, was a sister and a genius, a scientist and a teacher. She wore about a million different hats, and she balanced each of them well.  “The kind from the box? You’re not fooling me.” She’d had Sue’s cooking! That wasn’t a reward! “I’ll take the favor, but you can expect it to be a big one!” She’d probably never actually collect. Sue was one of few people America would kick open portals for without expecting anything in return.

“Don’t look at me like that,” Sue said with a grin, pushing against her friend’s shoulder jokingly as she spoke. “Can’t I just be here to spend time with a friend? Why do you always assume that I have something up my sleeve?” It was entirely possible that America knew Sue far too well by this point, and recognised that sitting still was about as foreign to her as the many wonderful universes she had explored with the Fantastic Four, perhaps more so after her years of experience. “Okay, so I did come to ask you something, but I swear, one of these days I will genuinely just be here for a movie night, and then you’ll probably pass out from shock!”
Sue leaned forward on the sofa, putting everything she had into making the suggestion sound like something America would be into. She had a lot riding on this, after all! “We brought Franklin with us - accidentally, may I add - the last time we went past Earth-90214, and he absolutely fell in love with the Fogey style. His birthday is coming up in a few weeks, and I really wanted to grab him an outfit in the style to wear to his party. Don’t worry, all his friends are nerds too, he’ll definitely be the coolest one there.” It was important to consider these things, after all! “I would try to go myself, but dimension hopping is much more your speed. What do you think?”
“I’ll look at you however I want,” America shot back, though she couldn’t bite back a smile as she said it. She absolutely adored Sue Storm, but the woman pretty much always had something up her sleeve. It was who she was and, honestly, America wouldn’t have had it any other way. Unsurprisingly, Sue folded like a house of cards after only a single quirk of America’s brow. America snorted at the statement, shaking her head good naturedly. “I won’t hold my breath,” she teased lightly. “Spit it out, Storm, what am I here for?”
Really, the Fantastic Four were just about the only other people in 616 who did the whole multiversal thing. Since the Torch was obviously far too insufferable for America to willingly spend time around, Richards rarely left his lab, and Grimm was a rocky mess on his best days, Sue was the absolute best person to relate to when it came to problems of the multiverse. America absolutely adored her, and it was always nice to have someone who actually understood the whole ‘burgers on Earth-317 are to die for, but it’s overrun by space robots’ dilemma. That didn’t mean America worked for free, of course. Crossing her arms over her chest, she raised a brow and tilted her head. “What’s in it for me?” They both knew she’d do it in the end, of course. America loved Franklin as much as she loved Sue, and she’d do just about anything for the kid. Still, she was gonna milk it.

‘‘Right?’‘ Bobby quipped. Unable to stop himself from smirking a little at the girls comment. He knew for a fact he was far from intimidating, at least when he wasn’t covered head to toe in ice. So it was no surprise that his grumpy manner hadn’t succeeded in scaring people off.
A heavy sigh escaped his lips. Finishing off his drink in a matter of seconds and looking up to the girl. ‘‘How’d you know im not a frat boy huh?’‘ He said with a raised brow.
Putting out his hand to gesture to the seat in front of him. ‘‘I guess so…but it’ll cost ya.’‘ Bobby teased, hinting towards the empty bottle in his hand before sliding it across the table.
Tumblr media
America was always fairly quick to decide when she liked someone, and she found herself liking this guy well enough. He had the right amount of sass to fit in with other people she found herself hanging around, and a good amount of grumpiness to boot. She could only handle so much cheerfulness, and thanks to people like Cassie, it was maxed out.
“Are you? You look a little frazzled for a frat boy.” Yeah, okay, that was probably rude. America had never been good at politeness, and she didn’t put forth much of an effort to change it. She was who she was; there was no sense in pretending otherwise.
It was America’s turn to raise a brow as she slid into the seat across from him, eyeing the empty bottle. “Guess nothing in life comes free, huh? Shame the service here is so bad. Might take a minute for me to flag them down.” She flashed him a grin as she said it.

[ ✉ → bold of spirit ] I could get used to being bored, if it meant the world was finally peaceful. perhaps. possibly. if the League doesn’t have something like that, the Avengers might. yes, that does sound like a reasonable argument. It was one of his last shifts of the week and Bobby was finding himself getting bored of the constant streams of customers that bombarded his quiet little bar. School was getting to him, his job was getting to him and right now it seemed that everybody in a fifty mile radius was just determined to annoy the young mutant.
His eyes rolled. Feeling a presence enter his personal space. Taking a long swig of his drink and mentally preparing himself for what was possibly about to go down, good or bad.
‘’Look, before you ask I’m on break, so if you want a drink you’re gonna just have to ask one of the guys behind the bar- sorry in advance for the sucky service due to the lack of me. now can you piss off?’’  Bobby huffed as he gripped at the icey rim of his beer. Not even bothering to look up to who he was venting his frustrations onto. He was barely functioning on a lack of sleep and a diet of alcohol and iced lattes, along with having to battle his own personal demons, so you couldn’t exactly blame him for being a little cranky.
Tumblr media
The world was going to shit, which was pretty much a weekly thing in New York City. Still, something seemed especially terrifying about this time in particular. Part of America itched to make for the hills and find a new universe to lay low in until the whole thing blew over, but she knew that wouldn’t fly. For better or worse, she had people here she cared about now, and she didn’t feel right leaving any of them behind to face this shit on their own.
That didn’t mean she was willing to do it without engaging in a few vices. Unfortunately, she was far from the only New Yorker who’d had the bright idea to visit a bar in a time of chaos. The place was pretty much crawling with people, and for a moment, America considered leaving. But she’d already paid for her drink, and she wasn’t financially secure enough to ditch it. Scanning the bar, her eyes fell on a table with a single occupant. Compared to the rest of the bar, it was practically empty, and America made a beeline to it without thinking.
“Now that’s what I call customer service,” she snorted, raising a brow at the kid as she took a swig of her drink. “Relax, kid. I’m not looking to bother you. You’ve got just about the only table in the house not crawling with frat boys, and I’d rather not deal with that type right now. You mind if I sit? We don’t have to talk or anything. I’m just sick of standing.”
