Thank you for checking in on me 💕 I’ve been having a bit of a rough summer but! I am still kicking! Just taking it a bit easy right now in regards to this project. I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again; Delusion will come out. This is a promise to myself as much as it’s a promise to you.

Saying that, there’s not much in the way of updates. Partially due to the aforementioned rough patch, things are about where they were before. Plots ironed out, character bios are just about finished, art is…. Well, it’s going. I’m not much of an artist, nor have I ever done comics, sooooo….. we’ll see where that takes us in terms of Lore Comics.

There is, however, an update on Delirium! I said a while ago I’d port it over to AO3, and as of right now that’s in the works! Here’s a snippet of the tags I currently have tucked in the draft :]

And I’ve changed the story description on both Wattpad and Quotev to fit the AO3 port! That thing was years old and, frankly, a bit clunky.

I’m such a sucker for the title word definition trope lol

Anyway! Minor grammar edits are underway. Crossing fingers I start publishing chapters…. Before the end of July. I’ll probably make a schedule of twice a week rather than a whole dump. Just so new readers aren’t intimidated to start reading.

Currently my plan for Delusion is to complete at least a third of it before publishing, with the first two/three chapters available at posting. If I waited until I had all of it written to publish the fic, you’d probably not see it for a long time LOL— it’s currently planned to be at least almost twice the size of Delirium.

*slaps roof of fic* you can fit so much Worldbuilding and Trauma into this bad boy.

As for Jeff… yeah, he’s definitely not gonna be happy. You’ll see how he reacts (hint: badly)

May we get some random writing tips?

Hello! Thank you very much <3 I've had writing as a hobby for... Nine years now. Jeez. The time really flies! And practice makes perfect :]

I think I've had a similar ask before, but I cannot find it! So, here you are. Some random writing tips, in no particular order:

Write what you want to share. Not only that; write what you want. My writing is for me first, of course! But I also have the thought, "wow, I really like this. I bet other people would too." and that is why I post. Inherently, sharing art is an act of community; an attempt at communication. But creating art... That is taking a piece of your internal world and reflecting it in the external world. It should make you happy. It should be cathartic. Don't write what you think other's would want to see. Statistics like readership, likes, comments... They're nice, but they shouldn't be what drives you. People are fickle, and an outside audience isn't guaranteed. Your audience should be you, just you, at first and in the end. If you are satisfied, then it's good work!

Research! Research is always important. I'm always constantly opening tabs to look something up. Avoid the AI generated summaries (can't believe I have to say this) and go to a place like Wikipedia for generalized knowledge. For example, Crow bites. A lot. So, I looked up what the human bite force is (162 psi!) and what a human bite would do (as in, its effect on flesh, ways of treating them, etc). Websites like Mayo or Cleveland clinic are great for medical information. Sports and hunting websites are good for weapon/improvised weapon information. Take and keep notes! You'll probably need them.

If you're writing fanfiction, character voice is important. If they have canon dialogue/voice lines, I find compilations and listen to them. Take note of how they say things, what words they use, what their intonation sounds like. If they don't have a canon voice (like, say, EJ or Jeff), then I read a lot of different fics and construct my own voice for them. I make deliberate decisions on what they say and how they say it. It goes back to: what am I saying to the reader with this work? With this character? Make sure you have a strong grasp on the characters, well, characterization!

You don't have to write every day. But you have to write consistently. I'd say three to five days a week, shifting according to energy levels. More if you can do it, of course! More is always better. But if you have a job, important schoolwork, chronic pain or fluctuating energy levels, let yourself rest. Please. Also, as for word count, I don't really adhere to that much anymore. I used to obsessively count my words, but that was tiring. Instead, I let them come as they may. So, I'd say, even a couple of bullet points that capture an idea is better than nothing. Expand upon it when you can.

If you're afraid of chapters being too short, don't be. I didn't always write 2k-6k chapters! Sometimes your chapter is 700 words and that's perfectly alright. Again, it's about what you're trying to say. Short chapters can be punchy. Long chapters can drag on and be boring. In fact, I took an editing course a few years back, and it was all about brevity! About cutting to the quick of a message; how much you could remove without sacrificing the meaning. Turning two paragraphs into a sentence, that sort of thing. Just make sure you get the message across, and you're golden. Details are accoutrements; and an excess amount can muddy the waters.

The recent (absolutely incredible) ask I received made me realize I did have to clarify something:

Delusion will not have love interests, same as Delirium.

As elaborated on in the post, at the end, it is a general reader insert. You, as Crow, as the Operator's Proxy, in the Creepypasta world.

Crow may kiss some people, and they may even (egads!) hold hands, but romance is not, and will not, be a focus. Thanks.

Hard to not get into spoiler territory, if only because Delusion is going to be quite heavy in terms of things not brought up before/talked about enough. Hard to talk about things important to the plot without spoiling it.

I'd probably chose Bonds and Bondmates. Honestly I'm quite surprised most readers take it at face value, though I'd like to think it's because I've made it straightforward in comprehension.

Character relationships are perhaps one of the most important things in this project. Whether you forsake or eschew humanity entirely, you are still a social animal. And that has great bearing on everything you do, on how you act, on how you are. The sociality of the human species perseveres no matter the changes one may go through-- it can even affect and transform the forces of change themselves.

Nonsocial beings, those who were always solitary, can never understand. Are unable to understand, fundamentally.

Will the splinter of us we saw in the mirror make an appearance again in Delusion?

Hello! Good question!

The splinter in the mirror was something of a hallucination; a manifestation of the portion of Crow being curated by their training. The portion of us, the memories, that were being blocked from our consciousness outside of training. Something like a copy, suspended when we were awake, allowed to move and grow when we were in the Lord's Forest.

When the Slenderman rooted through Crow's brain and disposed of what he liked, he left that splinter intact to fill in the gaps left behind.

That splinter will make an appearance, yes-- because it is mostly who Crow-- who we-- are now.
