tl:dr i'm placing all my blogs on indefinite hiatus, i'll be putting that in my pinned posts as well.
Well. I made the decision. it's been coming for a while tbh, i've taken a lot of breaks in the last few months, and if i'm honest i never really wanted to stop these breaks. I'm not having fun roleplaying here anymore. It's an ugly truth, but its a truth.
I don't want to blame anyone but myself, please don't get this wrong. But i want to explain myself and i want to be honest. And also, i'm very sorry about incoherent rambling, i can't really help it right now.
I feel like i had no involvement in this community anymore. Which is... objectively false, but that doesn't help me feel better. All the people that made me join rotomblr either left themselves or they evolved so much and so fast that i can't keep up. There are new people as well, and there are many that i like a lot, but in the end, rotomblr is changing way too fast for me to keep up and it simply kills all my joy and motivation. (again, i don't blame anyone here. I want you to have fun. It's just sad that i can't be part of the fun)
I have tried a lot to bring my motivation back to rotomblr by making A LOT of blogs, some have been very well received, some are not getting any attention. And again, i understand that. I don't want anyone to force themself to be into something they're not. And i understand much much better that i can't just expect a blog i created 5 minutes ago to get asks and followers in the hundreds. But this is, in the end, another reason for me to feel left out.
I also tried to plan an event, i tried making a story and none of it really went anywhere. I don't know how you do it. I don't know how you can go and plan something like this, and how you work together with people like this, and i just can't keep it up anymore. It's gotten so bad that i actually fear opening the app on my phone. I don't read my favourite blogs anymore. And since i realized that, i also realized i need to make a change.
In addition, there is also real life, and other hobbies, and all of it is draining the limited time i have as well as my mental capacity and lately have been getting REALLY depressed. Not specifically because of rotomblr, but i think it's been a part of it.
So. I have made the decision to put all of my blogs on hiatus. I don't want to delete them, because i had it often that i just gave up on a hobby or a game or a book and came back to it after a long time. And honestly, i like a lot of the characters. They are very dear to me, and most of them only live through tumblr, and i don't want to lose them. But i don't have concrete plans to come back anytime soon.
On the other hand, i won't leave the few discord servers i'm in, mostly because i still really like the community and i consider quite a few of you people good friends by now.
PS: I am so incredibly upset with myself it's unbelievable. When i made the blog and started having really a lot of fun, i said to myself that i want to keep this hobby up for one year. That was my goal. And i failed. FUCK. On the other hand i have been ignoring rotomblr for a bit already and it's been kinda freeing. so... yeah... meh.

Huh, so i did not just imagine it. I overheard someone in cascarrafa talking about the league allowing the Solosis line now. I got all excited and annoyed because we spent so much time trying to get Athenas Reuniclus approved to no success. When i asked the league staff at the gym, they said there was no such thing.
Good to know it was indeed just a rumour.
I should be allowed to expel students from N-U academy. These kids go on a student exchange program and think they can sneak all their new Unovan mons into Paldea.
Who do I @ about this. C'mon kids, u were supposed to be the cool ones.

I seriously hope that it won't. At least not on this scale, i really would prefer not to chase two groups of rival paradoxes through an underground maze for 3 days again.
I'm exaggerating, there were two paradox Pokémon who had gathered a little group of local pokémon and started to be aggressive towards each other. We first tried to separate them, which worked way too well because they just fled pretty deep into the desert. It was a Great Tusk that had been taken in by a herd of Donphan and Phanpy as well as a Brute Bonnet that had apparently managed to charm quite a few wild Cacturne and Scovillain as well as some Flabébé.
I also did not know that there are so many caves around, or that they had this kind of size.
Bloody hell. We touched down last week, and not even an hour later we got called for an emergency regarding one of those paradoxes.
We had our sweet trouble with it, but the situation in the desert is under control again. I will probably tell more about it, but i need a drink first.

What would you want as a gift like anything specific
Hm, i assume this is for that delibird day event i signed up for?
I enjoy handcrafted things a lot. Woodcarvings, origami and the likes.

I don't know Minecraft, but that's more true than you think. It's probably also more wrong than you think because it's not that simple.
if minecraft taught me anything its that wild lycanrock are friendly and you can catch them if you have enough bones (i am sure this is true in real life despite knowing nothing on the topic)

That's very nice! Maybe I'm just old-fashioned myself but i think it's good to keep in mind how to do ranging work without relying on technology. Even if you don't practice it during actual missions.
And we, my team and I practice this regularly. And while i take on more of an administrative and coordinating role in the team, i think i didn't use my styler in a few months now. Outside of training of course. I'm not slacking there. Just as with nature, it's all about the right balance.
Somehow i have a hunch that this will change in Paldea though.
#also if ur a ranger and u cant do your job without ur styler ur a bad ranger
You are so right about this. The amount of times I've had to drill "your rangering is not in your styler" into younger recruits is...a lot. It's one tool of many, the actual work is in knowing the environment and how to care for it.
I do like my styler and don't plan to give it up. But if the world suddenly reverted back to pre-pokeball historical methods of pokemon interaction, I bet me and my actual knowledge of wild pokemon behaviors would mop the floor with any "just chuck a ball at em" 'Pokemon Master' trainer.
I'm glad you agree with me and also I have no doubt in my mind that you'd be able to survive just fine without modern technology. But the thought of having u as one of my co-survivors in this apocalypse fantasy is frankly chilling. You'd somehow still find a way to make us do mission reports. You'd create a brand new regulatory body. Horrific.

Is this not taught in ranger school anymore?
Back in my day, when Prof. Hastings was still figuring the styler out ranger work was much more about your actual connection and communication with Pokémon.
Your styler is a tool. A damned good one, but tools can break. Remember that.

Pokeballs vs. Capture Stylers
As a ranger, it is my deeply held belief, based on observation and experience, that Pokeballs are an under-estimated danger to pokemon and the environment. They can cause harm even when used properly and with good intentions. When used by someone with criminal or otherwise nefarious intent, they make causing harm ludicrously easy. Let's do a little comparison, shall we?
How do you get it? Pokeballs can be bought for money in Pokemarts, and are often handed out for free at promotional events. Capture stylers are given only to certified rangers.
What about more advanced versions? Some types of Pokeball require a certain number of League badges to purchase. Others are gated only by cost alone. Capture stylers have built-in limits that can be gradually removed by senior rangers once a ranger has proven experience and risen in rank.
Who regulates it? Pokeballs are produced by the Silph and Devon corporations. While they have some cooperation with the Pokemon League, and are regulated by government, their fundamental motivation is profit. Capture Stylers are regulared by the Ranger Union. Even if one could mass-capture using a styler, it would not benefit the Union to do so.
How many pokemon can you catch? While league battles allow only a fighting team of six, a person can buy and own as many pokeballs as they can carry. Even for the highest-ranked rangers, the maximum number of friend Pokemon is 7.
Can you take pokemon somewhere unsafe for them/the environment? Capture stylers prevent taking a pokemon out of it's native habitat, a limitation removed only for Top Rangers. A brand-new trainer could catch a magikarp and then immediately release it into the desert if they wanted.
What happens if you capture a wild pokemon? With a pokeball, the pokemon is now permanently registered as captured by the trainer. It can be released. Depending on the training experience, it may or may not be safe/appropriate to release back into the wild, even in its native habitat. With a capture styler, the pokemon remains wild. It can temporarily assist a ranger, and then return immediately to its natural environment and behaviors.
What if you try to catch someone else's pokemon? A pokeball prevents re-capture of an already registered pokemon. A capture styler can be used to capture an owned pokemon (this is often done to return lost pokemon, or soothe agitated or injured ones) but it does not change the ownership of the Pokemon.
Is there skill involved? There is strategy in Pokeball capturing, especially via battle. But theoretically, one could still bombard even a legendary pokemon with enough pokeballs and capture it by sheer statistical chance. Proper use of a capture styler requires education and training. Even if someone stole a capture styler, they would not automatically be able to use it.
What if someone "bad" tries to catch a pokemon? Anyone can buy and use a pokeball regardless of intentions. A capture styler conveys the intentions of the ranger. No matter how skilled/experienced, a person could not capture a pokemon they wished to harm in an unmodified/unhacked styler.
What about evil teams? Criminal organizations where pokeballs are readily available (Johto, Kanto, Hoenn, etc.) have simply used regular pokeballs for purposes of robbery, poaching, etc. Evil teams in regions where capture stylers are popular (Fiore, Almia, and Oblivia) have either heavily modified an experimental styler (Super Stylers) or needed to invent and produce an entirely new capture system (Gigaremo, Capture Gauntlet). This vastly limited available supply to team members, and speed of plans. I'm going to repeat that bit. Without access to pokeballs, evil teams found it easier to make, manufacture and distribute their own inventions than to use capture stylers for crime.
What happens if you defeat a criminal using a pokemon? Defeating a criminal (such as an evil team member) in a trainer battle may lead to an arrest, but they may also run away and keep the pokemon they own. When using a styler to capture pokemon controlled by other means (e.g. gigaremo units) the pokemon return to the wild.
You see why I think it's insane that of these two methods, one is meticulously regulated, and the other can be bought for pocket change at a corner store? In case anyone lacks reading comprehension, I'm not saying pokeballs make people evil. But it is a hell of a lot easier to commit crimes like mass trafficking with pokeballs than with stylers. And even well meaning, perfectly nice people can do things like drastically alter local pokemon populations by catching many in a short time span, or releasing them inappropriately. Pokeballs are insane and I'm so tired of people thinking I'm the weird one for saying so.

Adding on:
You can always turn to your local ranger base or call any of them (should you be a bit farther away from one) to ask for advice. We will gladly help you figure out which of your Pokémon can be released into the wild again (if you want that) and what kind of care they require otherwise.
This is literally part of our job.
Hey quick question about catching a lot of pokemon.
What if you were a dumb kid who got a lot pokemon to 'complete your dex' realized later 'oh shit what did I do' and made a sanctuary for those pokemon giving to professors when you can?
-A Person who hates keeping their pokemon in a PC
Honestly? Forgive your little kid self. People start trainer journeys very young. And most of them are encouraged by the league, by gym leaders, and by professors (AKA adults who should know better) to catch as many pokemon as possible.
The fact that you realized it wasn't actually in the pokemon's best interest and tried to do something about it is wonderful. Also, not thinking of the PC as permanent storage for Pokemon puts you a step above most trainers.
I hope you're working with people like veterinarians or other rehab specialists to make sure the sanctuary healthy/safe for the pokemon while they're there. But otherwise? Good on you for turning it around.

I don't understand either. The representative talked about the psychic influence on other Pokémon. She didn't make much sense though. Especially when asked about Espathra and Gothitelle, she quickly changed the topic. But i think at this point, there is little we can do to get Athenas Reuniclus into Paldea.
But that league immediately sounds much nicer now that i know of those lunch-parachutes. I hope i can look forward to it and he won't mind preparing a couple more lunchboxes.
I do hope the trouble with the assistant you mention is more of a personal matter however. I will keep my eyes open and ears sharp.
Bloody hell.
So. Short version. More forms. Thanks to that Clive, we have most of it sorted out regarding our Partners, but Athena won't have any chance of bringing her Shiinotic. I tend to agree that it could be an environmental hazard with its spores, but that Pokémon is an incredible help. The thing i don't understand is that she's also not allowed to bring her Reuniclus.
Anyways, we will arrive in Cascaraffa on thursday, i'm really looking forward to it. Let me know some stuff to do around the place, and local delicacies as well!

Bloody hell. You can't believe how much i missed waking up at 5 in the morning just to attend a briefing. There is no reason to hold it at 7am. I bet there won't be a single person attending that wants to be there at 7am.

That is even such a strange concept. They are called baby-pokémon, because for the most part, they ARE the baby.
Parents, you know how little control over their body your own baby has. Your toddler projectile-vomits every other day, what makes you think it's a good idea to get them a playmate that does the same, but instead of carrot salad it's barfing actual fire.
Somehow, people seem to hear the phrase "baby pokemon" and think it means that the pokemon is therefore safe for babies. I've seen preschool-age children who's parents let them "own" a pichu, elekid, magby or even drifloon.
Like...if you wouldn't let your small toddler touch the stove or play with electrical outlets, why would you encourage them to play with a pokemon that can spit fire????

Last weekend at home before we're heading to base next week for briefing and all that, and then it's time for paldea.
So don't ruin this for me. We already had a near-miss. I just want a nice time in peace at home.

Now, now my dear colleagues, don't be so hasty there. I'm sure you all learned more than how to draw crude circles in ranger school!
"Man, I wish I got to attend ranger school in Almia. It's be so cool to learn the ins and outs of using a real capture styler 🥺"
