Transmasculine experiences in sex work are often rendered invisible, so let's share them! Reblog to help get more eyes on this, so we can fundraise enough to pay all the contributors.
The Kickstarter for Working Guys: A Transmasculine Sex Worker Anthology is now live.
If you're curious about trans people who do sex work, read about what will be included in the book and get yourself a copy:

You know, if sites like Tumblr were actually pro-porn, it would become EASIER to avoid, because the site could create functionality to search for it intentionally or to filter it out of searches without any sort of shadowbanning...
Instead, by trying to ban and censor it, they make it so there are bots everywhere and no-one can filter them out, meanwhile actual sex workers get banned incredibly quickly.

What people imagine all sex workers' trauma consists of: Flashbacks to being sexually assaulted by dozens of clients per day, any time we try to have sex or intimacy with someone.
My current and most frustrating trigger, as a sex worker: Whenever someone used the slang word "based", I have a panic response. When I was a teenager and escorting and making porn as my main income, Lil' B (who originated the current use of "based" as something positive, meaning "cool") bought foot pics from me and posted them pretending I was a crazed fan.
He had me write his name on my feet and then posted the pictures with the claim that I'd sent him these pictures unprompted. Unfortunately for me, RooshV and some other terrible internet personalities had recently posted about me, so I was recognized.
I got a ridiculous number of death threats, mockery, and someone even found my regular phone number (no idea how) and called me pretending my mother was in the hospital. All because I took a custom picture order. Nightmare shit.
Any time I hear someone using the word "based", usually joking around and having fun, I can't help thinking about it. It's deeply embarrassing and not even someone I can ask people to stop doing without seeming like a demanding freak who's policing language.
Whilst I've also been assaulted by clients and have PTSD as a result, this experience has stuck with me for longer than most of the assaults I've experienced, because of the scale of it. The stigma sex workers face is pervasive and we can be so easily targeted by anyone with a platform.

The way some women insult sex workers just comes across as projection, because they're having really terrible sex with men who don't respect them and they resent that at least sex workers are being paid for it.

The Pre-Prostitution Jitters
This article is evergreen, always relevant to me, and every time I go back to selling sex after a break I get the pre-prostitution jitters all over again.
"Lots of people will talk about this and say it’s always PTSD, or that it’s simply a manifestation of the fear sex workers naturally feel about seeing clients. Many people even use discussion about this as an excuse to deny us rights, to argue the “sex trade” must be abolished for our own good... I don’t need to argue that this isn’t PTSD over sex bleeding through the denial many sex workers have about the trauma selling sex causes us – whether it is or isn’t, our need for money still exists and the reason we’ve chosen to sell sex is that it’s our best option."

Sometimes I wear this necklace out to sex worker events and forget I have it on... only for strangers to give me weird and disapproving looks on the way home.

An inner Chilchuck works to help you not to put in too much effort with all jobs, not just working in a shop or an office or whatever else!
Sucking a client's dick and he hasn't been able to finish, when you hit the end of the hour he paid for and he pressures you to keep going until he comes? NO! Chilchuck says no free labour!

One of the recurring issues I've seen mentioned by transmasculine sex workers, whilst putting together "Working Guys: A Transmasculine Sex Worker Anthology", is the fear that getting top surgery will result in a huge loss of income and clients.
Tumblr media
This fear isn't an irrational one. Straight men are the largest demographic among clients, so being able to work under the guise of being a cis woman can have a big impact on how much money you can make. Top surgery is often the line where that's no longer possible.
If reading about these experiences is something that interests you, the crowdfunding for Working Guys: A Transmasculine Anthology goes live on the 1st of May!
Read about the project there: https://workingguys.carrd.co
Sign up to be notified here (it really helps with the algorithm and you'll get an e-mail the moment it goes live): https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mxjackparker/working-guys-a-transmasculine-sex-worker-anthology
Tumblr media
There is so little out there that describes the experiences of trans guys and transmasculine non-binary people doing sex work, which made me feel really alone when I started... which is why this project is really important to me.

If you're a trans person who is not a sex worker, you may be tempted to distance yourself from sex workers to try and seem more respectable.
Here is why you should have solidarity instead, due to our shared struggles and strength in numbers:
