Omg yes! Thank you so much, @lovewillthaw-j 😄 (and @true--north for the mention!)
Does anyone know where That One Animation Elsa Test™ came from? You know, the one where she's using her magic and looking like she's dancing? I've been looking everywhere for it for a while now and I can't find it anywhere and it's frustrating

In this masterpiece of a scene, so much happens in a split second. Anna freezes completely, thus preventing Hans from doing any harm with his sword to her. We all know this, it was perfect timing that her turning to ice happened just before his sword came down on her. The sword shatters and a magical blast incapacitates Hans, taking out the antagonist and the weapon. Can you imagine if Hans was not taken out? He would have gone on to kill Elsa with the stump of his sword and fabricated some explanation about Anna to the council of dignitaries.
But in the midst of all that, I'd like to point out something easily missed. Go back to the start when Anna ran. Did you realize that Anna did not know that she would freeze right at that moment? Think about it for a second. That's right, Anna had no way of knowing. She saw Elsa in danger, and she ran madly to her defense. She loved Elsa so much that she would take a blade for her, even if she would bleed, lose a limb, or even die. For Elsa.
Anna also gave up the life saving kiss from Kristoff, her one chance at unfreezing (from her perspective) . She had no way of knowing that she would unfreeze later on.
Tl;dr Anna's love for Elsa is boundless.

Please don’t let fandom ruin something you love. Walk away and unfollow the fans and enjoy the thing by yourself, or find a limited circle of people who ignore the discourse, or get your irl friends into the thing and collectively ignore the Internet community, or blacklist from here to the moon if you need to and only ever scroll through your rarepair ship’s tag on AO3. But don’t let fandom distort a show or a movie or a book or a comic you used to love so badly that you can’t enjoy the original anymore. Please. It isn’t worth it.

So, here’s the thing about Frozen.
Yes, it’s about Queen Elsa, cursed and afraid, and her sister, Princess Anna, who saves her, and together they learn that love thaws a frozen heart, yay.
But this movie throws a gauntlet. It double-dog-dares you. Because it knows that all of us, in our own ways, are Elsa. We are all living with something we are afraid of or feel we have to hide or are ashamed of. Some of us lock the door and just don’t come out, overcome by our fear. Some of us learn to embrace our uniqueness in our isolation, and we build our giant ice palaces and sashay majestically in our ice heels and listen to “Let it Go” on repeat for hours. But we still don’t let anyone in, because we believe we deserve to be alone.
And Frozen knows this. It knows us. It’s not easy being Elsa. But it’s easy to become Elsa.
And that’s why this movie throws a glove down. It’s challenging us to be Anna.
To find someone in your life who you [can] love unconditionally. To tell them you love them, unguarded, relentlessly. To remind them how important they are. To keep knocking on that door, to be persistent. To give them what they need. To listen to them. To sit beside them. To be there. To show them they are loved. Because they don’t think they belong and won’t believe you the first twenty times. Because they don’t expect you to follow them up the North Mountain. Because yes, they do want to build a snowman, but they just might not remember how anymore.
This world is full of Elsas. We are all Elsa. But every Elsa needs her Anna, and being Anna takes courage and strength. Put love out in the world. Be there for someone. Thaw a frozen heart. Someone you love needs you.
And after all, the person who might most need you to be their Anna is yourself.

Let’s talk about this scene really quick. At first I simply dismissed it as a bit of tension between the two sisters. I mean, obviously Anna has some pent up anger at the fact that for 13 years Elsa did not open the door. Elsa, on the other hand, is upset at the sudden outburst.
But in reality, at this point in the story Anna really does not know what true love is. She thinks that true love means meeting the prince of her dreams and marrying him. She doesn’t realize that love means putting yourself before others, like Elsa did for 13 years.
The hurt in Elsa’s eyes is not caused by the insinuation that she doesn’t know what love is because she hasn’t met the “right” person yet. She is upset because the person that is hurting her is that same person she sacrificed herself for all of those years.
Elsa knows what love is. Elsa has demonstrated it for longer than a decade by locking herself in one room to make sure that her sister is not hurt.
And you know what the worst part is? That up to this point I also expected Anna to end up with Hans, I wanted them to be together because it did seem like true love.
Even though I was shown Elsa’s love over and over again, I didn’t think she knew what true love was.
If there is anything wrong with Elsa, it is the fact she always loved too much.

Some people think that Elsa’s magic makes her difficult to relate to because she “doesn’t have a personality outside of her magic.”
Well yeah
Because Elsa and her magic are not separate. They are one being. Her magic is so ingrained into her character that everything she does is tied up in it. Frozen is revolutionary not only for our fearless heroine Anna and the main relationship being sisters, but also because they took the “magical girl” trope and gave it depth. They gave it lore. They gave it weight and emotion and meaning. Elsa is her magic, and her magic is her.
Elsa is also selfless, creative, strong, reserved, spiritual, intelligent, and regal. She can have all this outside of her magic. They created her as a character independent of her magic… and then wove her character into her magic.
They are, indeed, one.
