Review:

Damn. This book had me crying so much. The character's tale of how they fell in love and separated and are later reunited. It was just so touching the love they had. It didn't matter how old they were. They were soul mates. They were two halves of a whole. They completed one another, and they could not be whole without one another.
It just couldn't stop crying when we find out about Poppy, even though you could already kind of guess. They were just reunited, but she only had a few months to live. I really liked the emotion put into all the scenes. It made me feel like, 'Wow. To have a love that great.' The only thing I would really change about this book is the end. I could not believe that he died so soon. To have him live until his late twenties was just unbelievable.
I think it was even better than I read this book in audiobook form because it was easier to hear the parts in Norwegian than to butcher the words. I don't know it just made the characters come more to life because I was hearing them by two different people in two different accents.

Review:
★★ stars
The beginning is okay. The intro was good, but afterwards could use some work. It was weird how the book jumped to eight year later and didn't show some of the time in between or ease into it. There were also errors with the writing and it didn't tell of the father being gone, even though it was obvious. I just wish the author had said at the beginning when and how he left.
Another weird part about the book was that she didn't seem attracted to Liam until the party when she was drunk. It was also weird when the perspective suddenly turned to Liam when it got to chapter 15. It just didn't feel right to have the perspective suddenly change to Liam in the middle of the book when so far it has been in Amber's point of view.
I also thought it was off the way some parts were written. It was either awfully exaggerated at some points, like with how much Liam loved her or how attractive the guys were, or some parts just didn't fit right. It just didn't seem right that Amber was okay sleeping next to a guy when she was sexually abused and there was attempted rape by her father. Then, Amber is willing to show herself off in a sexual way, especially at school.
The only thing that really saves this book from being a single star is the humor. I couldn't help laughing my ass off with some of these parts, especially when Amber teases Liam and the growing bet with the other girls. Basically, the book was written poorly and could use fixing with wording, transition, and what should be taken out of the book.

Zeus (Taken by Olympus #1) by Celia Aaron ★

Summary:
One minute I'm looking after an injured gelding, the next I'm tied to a luxurious bed. I never believed in fairy tales, never gave a second thought to myths. Now that I've been kidnapped by a man with golden eyes and a body that makes my mouth water, I'm not sure what I believe in anymore. . . But I know what I want.
Review:

Best way to describe this book in five words: Oh. God. That. Was. Boring. I have never been so bored in my life reading a story that is supposed to be erotic. It was inching along in the beginning and then the scene just suddenly changes. There wasn't a good transition or elaboration to that. The scene just went from one to another.
As for the synopsis, it totally gave everything away. You don't even need to read the book to know that she was treating an animal, then gets transported to a god, tied up.
When I was reading the sexual parts, I could not wait for it to be over. I have felt more hot and bothered from looking at a hot guy than I did reading this book. Also, the ending was horrible. I could not believe after one event things are solved for them. I also could not believe things worked out when it would not in most and for the fact the girl is mortal.
It was just the standard writing. Nothing special that sets it off from the rest. I even kind of felt that it was sub-par to many erotic books. I expected more from the book and I guess had higher expectation. I Do NOT recommend this to anyone, especially to people who like Greek mythology. This just totally killed it for me.

Born at Midnight (Shadow Falls #1) by C.C. Hunter ★★★★
I have always been meaning to read this book since I first saw it. The name sounded cool and the cover looked interesting, so I just had to read it. Also, the cover of the book looked just really cool.

Kylie’s never felt normal, but surely she doesn’t belong here with a bunch of paranormal freaks either. Or does she? They insist Kylie is one of them, and that she was brought here for a reason. Both Derek and Lucas couldn’t be more different, but they both have a powerful hold on her heart. Even though Kylie feels deeply uncertain about everything, one thing is becoming painfully clear—Shadow Falls is exactly where she belongs…

I liked how the beginning started off with something interesting instead of slowly getting to a part that is of some slight amusement. I don't know why, but it kind of reminded me of Percy Jackson and House of Night. Well, something along those lines. It was cool with the mystery - of what she is - and action in the book. The added romance with the love triangle made it that much better.
When I was reading about the part where Kylie first meets Derek I thought that he was Lucas until he revealed his name. He just had that mysterious air about him because he didn't speak, was sitting in the back, and seemed like a man of few words when they were on the bus. So I classified that as signs of being a werewolf. Later on, his identity became obvious when Derek and Kylie start talking to each other more.
As the book went on, I started liking Derek more and more and wanting him and Kylie to get together, instead of Lucas and her. I thought that she would get together with Derek soon: Derek is nice and handsome, Lucas and her were avoiding each other like the plague, she is afraid of Lucas since he killed her cat, and Lucas has a possessive she-wolf that has been giving her the evil eyes. Guess she didn't date him right away was because of what her cheating ex and her step-father did, which made very hesitant to trust men. Everything goes fine until someone gets closer to Derek and she notices that Lucas isn't so scary anymore and is in fact a hot guy. Truth be told, I didn't want her feelings to waiver because I liked Derek so much and I didn't want her to have feelings for another guy other than Derek.
It was cool the part when she finally find out that the army ghost dude that has been watching her is actually her biological father. That was a intriguing part, but if I were to pick my favorites I think it would be the part where she is talking to Derek about himself and his life at the rock, and almost kiss before they are interrupted by Lucas, who comes to defend her. I would either be that part or the part where she goes to the river with Lucas and they kiss, and they soon run into her ex, Trey, mistakes Lucas for Derek.

I bought this book when I was in middle school because of the summary and loved this book right away. I found this book to be a really cute and sweet kind of romance. Even though the romance was very innocent between Ellie and Tommy I believe that the author wrote their romance perfectly; showing first love. It was really sweet all Tommy was doing for Ellie and what Tommy was planning to do with Ellie for the children in the neighborhood. I thought that this book really represented how a childhood romance would be like and how this can be very innocent and sweet.

Okay. This book was worse than the first book. The first book was at least okay, but this one, I really did not like. A lot of the book is pretty slow or boring. Another part of the book you are wondering what the hell is happening. With the book being mostly one of those three things, you have a real hard time enjoying or finding it the least bit appealing. It just really lacked a lot of parts that could have made the book interesting, like the movie.
The beginning was slow as hell with them being trapped in that room and when they are making the journey to the place they have to go. The only part that is really of slight interest was when they meet Aris and are looking for Teresa. The part that is not in the movie where the tags on the back of their necks say something was slightly interesting, but still not as interesting as in the movie. The book just lacked all the action and captivating drama that the movie had. The people that made the movie knew how to make it dramatic and fascinating, however it was like the author just did not know how to describe events to make them entertaining. Hell, I went through a whole chunk of the book before I got to some other part that was a little appealing in the middle of the book. The part with Brenda was cool. She seemed really interesting a kind of badass. Also found it cute when she kissed Thomas on the cheek.
Then, after that short part, it was slow as hell or not at all interesting. Pretty much, to put it bluntly, the rest of the book turns to utter shit. It was just slow, confusing, or sucked like hell. As for the characters, Jorge seemed quite different. He seemed more crazed and stuff. I liked him better in the movie because it seemed like he cared more for Brenda in the movie and he seemed all together and a better man in the movie.
Although, the author gave Brenda more character by giving her background by having her talk more about her family and what happened, also by having her take a major part in the book. It also felt like Jorge and Brenda were less close than they were in the movie. I guess because it was lacking in more background for them. As for the Cranks, I thought it was more scary and interesting the way they had them in the movie. Makes them more wild and animal like. More out of control and having totally lost humanity with no coming back at all. I think it made it scarier to get the disease and made it more clear on who had the disease. As for the lack of knowledge of the test subjects, the trials, and the experiments that Wicked is conducting on the kids was weird. I think since it was such a big organization and wide spread place for the testings, the people were bound to know about them. I also thought it was more interesting in the movie how the people knew about Wicked and how the kids were going to be used as profit.
To sum it up, I pretty much liked the way the movie set up the storyline better than the book. It was less complicated and had more enthralling events. The book was just totally lacking in events or a storyline that was absorbing Like instead of this being a part of the trial, it could have been like the movie where they are being hunted and they are trying to get away from Wicked. Also, having them look for the Right Arm. That made it have more flare and more exciting. The test and betrayal just made it boring and kind of confusing.

The Maze Runner by James Dashner ★★
I've always wanted to read this book since I saw it on the shelves. The story sounded interesting, but I never got to reading the book. I only really felt like reading the book after I watched the movie. The movie was intriguing and filled with action, so it made me really want to read the book. I finally read the book after Scorch Trials came out.

Summary:
If you ain’t scared, you ain’t human.
When Thomas wakes up in the lift, the only thing he can remember is his name. He’s surrounded by strangers—boys whose memories are also gone.
Nice to meet ya, shank. Welcome to the Glade.
Outside the towering stone walls that surround the Glade is a limitless, ever-changing maze. It’s the only way out—and no one’s ever made it through alive.
Everything is going to change.
Then a girl arrives. The first girl ever. And the message she delivers is terrifying. Remember. Survive. Run.

★★stars
The book didn't get interesting until about one third of the way through the book when Thomas goes into the maze to help Alby and Minho. In fact, a lot of things that were interesting in the movie were not as intriguing in the book. It's just that the way the author described the events was kind of boring. I don't know if I just expected too much from the movie, but I just feel that the book is missing something that the movie has. The book was totally different from what I expected. Lots of things were changed. Well, actually, the movie was very different from the book.
The basic storyline was the same, it just some events were changed. Well, the beginning was kind of slow like expected from the movie, however I thought some of the parts that the movie changed was kind of boring or felt less interesting. The part where Teresa came to the maze I felt was totally downplayed. It was more cool in the movie. It had more of an impact with her waking up for a second and saying his name, instead of her being in a coma. As for the part where Ben attacks Thomas has more of an impact in the movie. Although, I felt that there was more feeling in the book when Ben is banished.
As for the part where Thomas goes into the maze to help Alby and Minho was interesting. It's just the part in the maze was kind of confusing when Minho and Thomas face the Grievers. I was also confused about the ditch thing in the maze. Like, was that wall near the ditch, was it a wall in the maze or was it something different? Also, not sure how they really killed the Grievers except for making them fall.
When they have a Gathering to decide Thomas's punishment, it was cool that there was more in the book. The way that it was more like a trial gave more character to the people in the book instead of them just being background characters. I also liked what some of the people said at the trail, especially Minho. Another part that I liked that was only in the book was when Teresa starts talking to Thomas in his head and he freaks out. It was kind of cool that they had that power.
Also, I preferred how they solved the maze in the movie more than the book. It was more exciting in the movie and liked how they got out better, instead of them just jumping into this hole. As for the part where Thomas purposely stings himself, I actually liked this in the book. It gave more details and background for all of it. How it lead up to them being in the maze, him working for Wicked, and how reveal how him and Teresa have telepathic powers. Also, the ending wasn't really good. It was kind of boring. I liked it better in the movie because there was more excitement. I liked in the movie how they thought that she was dead, instead of her being shot and the only indicator of them being alive is the letter.
As for the characters, some of the people were different from what I expected. Thomas, Alby, Newt, and Minho were kind of different. The only people that really stayed the same was Gally and Chuck. Gally was still the mean bully that he always was and Chuck was still a good friend. As for Alby, he was still a leader type, however he seemed a little more mean and anti-social. Kind of like Gally at one point of the book. Also, I liked the way that Alby died better in the movie. I felt that Alby was starting to be a coward and died in a cowardish way, wanting to not be outside again.
Newt was kind of different from what I imagined with him being taller and looking different. A little more tougher and older. Newt also takes more of a leadership role than he did in the movie. He really takes a leadership role when Alby gets hurt and runs the Gathering. He really is a good guy and knows how to keep things together. He just gets along with pretty much everybody, which also makes him a good leader. Minho is kind of different. He does more in this than the movie. I don't know. He also feels a little different. I think that he has a little bit of a different character in the movie.
As for Thomas, he a little different. I felt that he was more of a leader in the movie than in the book. He naturally took the leadership role in the movie, but it is different in the book. Also, I think his personality was kind of different. In the movie, he kind of freaked out in the beginning. However, in the book he doesn't and he seems more afraid. He also wants to be a runner instead of just becoming a runner. Also, him a Teresa seem to be closer than they were in the movie, especially with the powers and nicknames.

Liar by Justine Larbalestier ★★★
I don’t really know what attracted me to this book. Maybe it was the title or the mysterious cover. Maybe it was the summary. However, what I do know is that this book is worth a read.

Summary:
Micah is a liar. That's the one thing she won't lie about. Over the years, she's duped her classmates, her teachers, and even her parents. But when her boyfriend Zach dies under brutal circumstances, Micah sets out to tell the truth. At first the truth comes easily-because it is a lie. Other truths are so unbelievable, so outside the realm of normal, they must be a lie. And the honest truth is buried so deep in Micah's mind even she doesn't know if it's real. The ultimate unreliable narrator takes readers on a thrill ride in this highly acclaimed novel. Prepare to grasp for truth until the very last page.
Review:
★★★stars
I liked how the author begins the book by introducing the character. I was intrigued from the start how the author conveyed the character through Micah's perspective. It was interesting having the book go back and forth from before the accident to afterwards, when Zach is dead.
Part 1 was interesting learning about Micah's life. Although, it got kind of slow and boring with the history parts. Then, you suddenly hear that Zach, a popular boy in school died. It's pretty interesting, the counseling and questioning. Secrets came out. It was interesting that the ass cake, Brandon, outed that Micah was also Zach's girlfriend and not just Sarah. I also liked listening to how Zach was with Micah. However, it got slow towards the end of this part, after you get used to the news about Zach's death. I got kind of confused with the kissing part between her, Tayshawn, and Sarah. I thought it was totally random and didn't get why it was there or happened. Part 2 Now, the thing that everyone was thinking. The big secret is revealed. The beginning was interesting because of what Micah revealed. It was also intriguing hearing about Micah having to be caged at 12 because she felt signs of the shift. Made me understand her better and kind of get why she lies all the time. However, it got boring with all the history about her family and things afterward. Made me just skim until the next part. Part 3 Finally, the whole truth and nothing but the truth is revealed. We find out what really happened and other aspects of Micah's life that she may or may not have lied about. Although, more of this part was interesting than the last, I found the ending to be slow and boring.

Jessica’s Guide to Dating on the Dark Side by Beth Fantaskey ★
I wanted to read this book because I loved the previous book I read by Beth Fantaskey, Jekel Loves Hyde. If you love Jekel Loves Hyde and paronormal/vampire stuff, then this book is not for you. Even though this is indeed about vampires, this is a sad version of the genre.

Summary:
The undead can really screw up your senior year . . .
Marrying a vampire definitely doesn’t fit into Jessica Packwood’s senior year “get-a-life” plan. But then a bizarre (and incredibly hot) new exchange student named Lucius Vladescu shows up, claiming that Jessica is a Romanian vampire princess by birth—and he’s her long-lost fiancé. Armed with newfound confidence and a copy of Growing Up Undead: A Teen Vampire’s Guide to Dating, Health, and Emotions, Jessica makes a dramatic transition from average American teenager to glam European vampire princess. But when a devious cheerleader sets her sights on Lucius, Jess finds herself fighting to win back her wayward prince, stop a global vampire war—and save Lucius’s soul from eternal destruction.
Review:
★ star
I thought that I would read a vampire book and this one seemed interesting since I liked the author’s previous work. This was a sad disappointment. So the beginning is okay. Guess it was a little intriguing having a dark and mysterious guy suddenly come in, and was kind of interesting hearing about her their lineage. It's just, there wasn't anything remarkable about it. Nothing that made me want to read a part again or anything like that. Then it gets really slow and quite boring after the first few chapters. It just loses the little appeal it has with the vampire bit. You just get used to it after a while and it gets old. There isn't anything to up the interest or make it intriguing again.
As for the characters, Lucian is kind of interesting with his foreign lineage and upbringing. His manners just add to the package. Although he has his good points with his compliments to her and trying to make her get passed her insecurities, I just get so bored when it gets to his letters.
Then, there is Jessica. She is a very rationale girl that is very head strong. She grew up in an American style, and as such has grew to be very independent and doesn't want to be tied down by his culture and the arranged marriage. I get why she doesn't want a marriage, I just disliked how she would even run from all things of her past, that involves her birth parents. She also denies everything unless she has solid proof, especially vampires. I especially don't get that after all the shit she has seen. Then I totally question her sudden change about Lucian. One day she just goes to school and tells Mindy, "I'm not sure if Jake and I are a great match. He's nice, but I don't know if there's a real spark there." What the hell happened with all the he defending him against Lucian and trying to get out or away from Lucian as much as possible. I hate how she was doing this run about of not wanting him and then wanting him when half of the book is already over, when someone else takes an interest.
Overall, the book was a sad excuse for a vampire romance book. It was terribly slow and boring. Nothing could have revived this book.
