My Hoffman playlist consists of metalcore/numetal that reminds me of him…but realistically I know this man is probably boppin Dad Rock and/or really moody pop music he has to pretend he doesn’t like. He got the music taste of a divorcee despite never being married and probably never being in a stable romantic relationship ever.
That man drinks himself to sleep listening to something like Mr. Brightside or Seethers cover of Careless Whisper and yet when he hears it on the radio he’s like “what is this crap?”
What if I told you this idea came from binging all the saw movies and while also doing a project on religious art…and what if I told you the Apprentices are a lot like the Angels of Death making John somewhat like God and Hoffman the Fallen Son for choosing to go against the rules and trying to make way on his own.
and what if a told you that I actually started this drawing because I was looking at a mood board on Pinterest and saw a pic of The “Lucifer of Liège” and thought to myself “damn that’d make a good anatomy practice” and then it spiraled (haha get it) into a Hoffman drawing because I wanted to draw him in a collar and chained.
both have truth in them. You can decide which has more.
Y’all wanna know why I love the scene where Mark and John meet is because John knows that Marks tough guy outer shell is a lot like his, there’s a shattered broken wreck of a man under there. Everything Mark said in that scene John has felt.
“You didn’t see the blood, you didn’t see what he fucking did to her”
(the delivery of this line scratches my brain)
I can imagine John in that moment remembering Jill’s miscarriage.
It’s also that line that shows how Hoffman truly feels , he starts off being aggressive with John “he was an ANIMAL” “HE DIDN’T DESERVE A CHANCE”— his defense mechanism is being the “tough guy” no one has ever questioned him before no one would dare go toe to toe with Mark Hoffmans attitude. John did though, because when John yelled right back it was then after that Mark broke down, he was on the verge of tears being reminded of his sisters death and being told that his way of handling it was inferior. Because Mark knew he enjoyed watching that man die, but it didn’t fix anything, it didn’t bring her back, it didn’t cure him.
This is also why I think John knew Mark was “too far gone” yes Mark and John’s lives have many mirroring moments the only difference is Marks vengeance crossed a line, it wasn’t about teaching lessons or fixing the worldit was about filling the void, no matter how much blood he helped spill Mark Hoffman could never truly understand what it meant to be “Jigsaw”
Ok peeps, I was lookin for more Director footage like a rat for scraps. I found someone’s video from the 06 HW Terror Tram and was able to capture this small clip and slow it down.
While I wasn’t a fan of every choice HW made with him, putting some “in color” footage of him was definitely a nice contrast to the typical B&W we see him in.
If ANYONE can find CLEARER versions of this specific snippet of B-Roll, Please,Please,Please send it this way.
I have this idea- what if Mary Goore is the “Fallen One” within the Ghost story line. As in the representative. Not necessarily Satan himself. Idk where he’d/they’d fit in…headcanon where Mary is the “banished” of the family or church.?
(I am also aware Mary has tats..but ignore it this is different)
Just letting HHN tumblr know…that the archived HHN websites are back up and running. If you wanna head over and take a look. There’s plenty of high quality audio and images to go nab.
