Education is one of the most important things and as a future teacher, I would like very much that we all have and fulfill the right to be able to have an education. So many lives have been stolen and if we don't say anything, we are part of the problem.

𝓛𝗒𝗂𝗇𝗀 𝗁𝖺𝗌 𝗍𝗈 𝗌𝗍𝗈𝗉
pairing(s): neteyam x fem!na'vi reader
summary: neteyam is haunted by memories he shared with you before he left for awa'atlu
author's note: i think this could technically count as angst but it's more melancholic to me, there's just lots of longing. consider this a warning i suppose. i really can't put it here but listen to “lying has to stop” by clairo while reading for the best experience!! unrelated but i have midterms tomorrow and i haven't studied #yolo !!! 😜 (help me)
Tumblr media
neteyam stood on the shore of awa’atlu, watching the sky, it's orange and pink light reflecting off the vast, endless sea. the sky here always seemed too wide, too open, nothing like the comforting embrace of the forest canopy he had grown up beneath. here, there were no towering trees to shelter him, the cool breeze that came off the ocean didn’t carry the scent of the forest, of wet earth and soft moss.
two years had passed since they fled. two years since the sully family left their home, their people, and everything they had known. awal'atu, for all its beauty, for all the new skills and wonders he had discovered, this place would never be home.
home was where she was.
he glanced down at the bracelet that circled his wrist, a simple thing—woven vines and tiny purple and blue beads. he hadn’t taken it off since the day she gave it to him. the memory of that moment was burned into his mind, one of the last things he could hold onto when everything else had been stripped away.
the way her wide, tear-filled eyes had stared up at him, as if she couldn’t quite believe he was leaving. he explained everything to her, his voice breaking as he explained why they couldn’t stay. she had understood, of course. she always understood. but that didn’t make it hurt any less.
the day his family decided to leave the omaticaya had been one of the worst of his life. the guilt of it still weighed heavily on his shoulders. they had no choice—quaritch wasn’t just hunting his father, he was hunting all of them. staying would have put their entire clan in danger, would have brought death and destruction to their people. but leaving... leaving meant abandoning the life they had built. it meant leaving her.
he could still feel the soft warmth of her hands, the trembling in her fingers as they brushed against his skin. and he could still hear the way her voice had cracked when she told him she loved him, right before she kissed him as if for the first time. her lips soft and trembling, her breath warm and uneven, the way she had pressed herself so close to him, as if she were trying to imprint herself into his very soul. he had kissed her back just as fiercely, holding her like she was the only thing keeping him grounded, the only thing keeping him from falling apart.
his heart ached at the memory. every night he replayed it over and over, the feel of her, the taste of her, the way her breath had hitched in her throat when he deepened the kiss. he could still taste the salt of her tears, mingling with the sweetness of her lips. it had been bittersweet—knowing it was a goodbye, even if she had promised it wasn’t forever.
forever, neteyam. i’ll wait forever.
he wanted to believe her. he had to believe her. but the distance between them seemed to grow wider with each passing day.
bitterness haunted his heart at the thought of what should have been. they were supposed to be mated by now. it was all so clear back then, so simple. it wasn’t even a question of if, but when. he could still remember the way she had smiled when he first mentioned the possibility of them being mated, how her cheeks had flushed a soft shade of violet, her eyes bright with excitement. he remembered how shy she had been at first, her hands fidgeting nervously as she offered him a carved trinket she had made. a symbol of their courtship. his heart had swelled with pride and affection, and he had taken it from her as if it were the most precious thing in the world. and to him, it was. everything she touched became sacred, imbued with her warmth and care. the future had seemed so sure, so inevitable, like the turning of the seasons or the rise of the sun.
but then quaritch came back, rearing his ugly head into their lives once more, like a demon from some nightmare. everything shifted in that instant. the careful plans they had laid, the promises they had made—all of it was torn apart in the blink of an eye. nothing was certain anymore. nothing was safe.
the metkayina were kind, welcoming. they had taught him to swim, to ride the ilu, to adapt to their ways. but no matter how much he learned, no matter how skilled he became in their ways, neteyam still felt like a stranger. and at night, when the village was quiet and the only sound was the soft lapping of the waves against the shore, he let himself feel it. the loneliness, the heartache, the longing for a life that seemed further away than ever before.
he thought of her constantly. every day, every night. he wondered what she was doing, if she was safe, if she still thought of him the way he thought of her. he would lie awake, imagining what it would be like to see her again. to hold her. to hear her laugh. his mind would drift back to the quiet moments they had shared—the way she would lean into him, her head resting on his shoulder, the way her fingers would trace the lines of his palm as they sat together in the stillness of the forest.
she was always there, in the back of his mind, a constant, aching presence. he would catch glimpses of her in the most unexpected moments—a flash of her smile in the curve of a wave, the sound of her laughter in the distant call of a tulkun. at night, when the village was quiet and the stars reflected off the still water, he let himself remember her fully, let himself drown in the memories of her.
he remembered how she used to laugh, how her eyes would crinkle at the corners when she was truly happy. how she would tug at his braids playfully, teasing him in that soft, affectionate way of hers. he could still hear her voice, soft and melodic, as she whispered his name in the quiet moments they shared alone.
but as the days stretched into months, and the months into years, that trust had started to feel fragile. had she moved on? the thought plagued him, gnawed at him like a festering wound. she had promised to wait, but how long could he really expect her to? he didn’t know when—or if—he would ever return. and if she had found someone else, if she had chosen to be with another, he couldn’t blame her. he knew she had every right to. after all, he had left her. not by choice, but he had still left. he couldn’t expect her to put her life on hold, to wait indefinitely for something that might never happen.
the idea of her being with someone else, though—it tore at him. the thought of another man holding her, kissing her, making her smile the way he used to—it was unbearable.
“neteyam?” his father’s voice pulled him from his thoughts. jake stood a few feet away, his expression unreadable in the fading light. neteyam had grown used to the look—his father’s concern, his quiet observations. “you alright, boy?”
neteyam nodded, though the tightness in his chest told a different story. “yeah.”
jake studied him for a moment, then sighed, stepping closer. “i know this move hasn’t been easy for you,” he said, his voice gentle. “for any of us. but you... you’ve been carrying a lot on your shoulders.”
neteyam glanced down at the sand beneath his feet, not trusting himself to speak. his father didn’t know the half of it.
“ke’loreä’s been asking about you,” jake continued, his tone careful. “she’s a nice girl. strong, kind. maybe you should give her a chance.”
she was kind, sweet even, with a laugh that rang like a bell and sea-green eyes that sparkled when she looked at him. she had taken an interest in him from the beginning, always finding excuses to be near him, to talk to him, to laugh at his jokes, even the ones that weren’t particularly funny.
at first, he hadn’t noticed. or maybe he had, but he hadn’t let himself think about it. but as time passed, it became harder to ignore. she would linger by his side during training, brush her hand against his arm when she spoke, offer to help him with tasks that didn’t require any assistance. she was... nice. there was nothing wrong with her. in fact, she was everything a mate should be.
but she wasn’t his.
“i cannot,” neteyam said, his voice tight. he shook his head, his jaw clenched. “i cannot do that to her.”
“to ke’loreä?” jake asked, raising an eyebrow.
“to yn,” neteyam corrected, his chest tightening at the mere mention of her name. “i can’t... i can’t betray her like that.”
jake let out a slow breath, his expression softening. “son, it’s been two years. i know you miss her. i know this isn’t what you wanted. none of us wanted this. but you can’t hold onto the past forever. we all left people behind. but maybe it’s time to start thinking about—”
“i am not holding onto the past,” neteyam said, his voice quieter now, but no less firm. “i am holding onto her. she is not the past. she...” he trailed off, unable to find the right words to explain the depth of what he felt. “i promised her,” he said finally. “and she promised me. i am not going to break that. she is waiting for me.”
“and what if she’s not?” jake asked quietly. the words hung in the air like a heavy weight, pressing down on neteyam’s chest.
he hadn’t let himself think about that. he couldn’t. if he let himself believe, even for a moment, that she had moved on, that she had found someone else, it would destroy him.
“she is,” neteyam said, his voice firm, though his heart trembled with uncertainty. “i know she is.”
jake didn’t say anything for a long moment. finally, he placed a hand on neteyam’s shoulder, squeezing it gently. “i just don’t want you to spend your life waiting for something that might not happen.”
neteyam swallowed the lump in his throat, nodding stiffly. his father meant well, but he didn’t understand. how could he? he didn’t know what it was like to love someone so deeply that their absence felt like a physical wound, to miss someone so much that every day without them was like another weight added to his chest.
jake didn’t push the issue any further. he placed a hand on neteyam’s shoulder, giving it a gentle squeeze before turning and walking back toward the village, leaving neteyam alone with his thoughts once again.
he closed his eyes, letting the sound of the waves wash over him. he could almost hear her voice, soft and sweet, carried on the breeze. he could almost feel her hand in his, the warmth of her skin against his. he could almost see her smile, the one that always made his heart race.
but when he opened his eyes, she was gone. just like she had been.

hi! this is my first ever request to somebody, so I'm sorry if I get anything wrong.
I was wondering if you could do romantic headcanons for Priya from AFOP? Her x fem (or gender neutral!) sarentu reader maybe? How'd they be when they first meet, how it turns from a really good friendship to something more. I love Priya a whole bunch, she's super duper sweet <3
Tumblr media
CLUMSY IS CUTE ;; PRIYA CHEN
summary ;; headcanons where you gradually get to know the most energetic girl in the resistance... and more.
pairings ;; priya chen x fem!sarentu!reader
warnings ;; mentions of insecurities (priya) ;; mentions of war, death, etc (referring to the earth and sarentu clan).
word count ;; 2.0k
omg, thank you so much for requesting !! i love writing about women <3
Tumblr media
✦ Your first day in what could be called 'future' or well, present, really, had not been the most appropriate. The encounter with na'vis - other than simple drawings or edited images in that place where you spent your entire childhood - who sought to help and humans who cared about you had been the only good thing so far.
✦ The chase, not so much, evidently. Neither was fearing for the lives of those brothers you had grown up with, let alone having to take a weapon to put an end to another life, but after much difficulty, you had to catch up as fast as you could and that's how you arrived at The Resistance, after So'lek, seeing another human wave their hand in the interior.
FIRST MEETINGS ¡!
✦ That purple-haired girl who greeted you introduced herself as Priya. Priya Chen, you learned soon after. Her manner of expressing herself was hurried and very energetic, almost as if she had just run a marathon and gone to work, but you could tell she was trying her hardest to refer to you as a na'vi.
"Oel n'ati kamiE-" she smiled, rocking back and forth, waiting for the return greeting, but with confusion and a bit of puzzlement, just as with So'lek the first time, you did not reciprocate. Still, curious about her manner, you decided in a way you considered normal, to follow her to better understand her attitudes.
✦ She was your ally and after all, you had to get along with her, whether you liked her or not, although happily, you did like her presence.
✦ She talked too much, that's for sure. Dizzy at first about everything she liked, about her childhood, her teenage years, about how once her head got caught between some metal bars because of a bet and that the first time, because of a mistake of hers, she couldn't come to Pandora earlier.
You nodded at her words, for you knew that stopping her was a bit rude and it was clear that not everyone appreciated her nervous giggles, anxious movements and spurts of energy.
Although from time to time, you had to admit that her way of expressing herself made you blink several times, as she spoke before she thought.
✦ For her part, from Priya's point of view, you were extraordinary. Yes, she admired your courage to stay there and join the resistance, not to belittle herself or her comrades, but she did believe that being your own planet, you had every right to fight for it.
✦ And she liked to talk to you because you listened to her, even though you had just met her. Sometimes she had to drink water to continue talking to you about all the fauna in Pandora and she even felt proud and laughed, moving her legs on the small sofas when you approached her after short missions to bring her samples or ask about the information she had about some of the plants you had seen.
✦ At first, it should be made clear that Priya is very awkward and socially awkward. She probably asked you several inappropriate questions that she quickly silenced, without giving you time to think, but then she spoke again.
✦ "And what were your parents like- I mean, they must have been very tall for you to be tall---" she gave you a sharp look, as she paced beside the control table and then stopped, giving a high-pitched squeak hastily shaking her head and arms. "No, no- sorry, my bad, my bad, god, how embarrassing- I didn't mean to say that, I mean I did mean to ask, but-"
✦ Priya takes trust very quickly and actually, I reckon that just by talking to her at least about three times or laughing at two of her jokes, she'll consider you a best friend.
FRIENDSHIP ¡!
Depending on how you are and what you do inside the resistance facility will have different ways of looking with Priya. So I'll take the most common ones.
✦ If you are a warrior.
If you have decided to go out and hunt and fight the RDA, Priya will be the one you talk to the most, as she will be all the time trying to give you locations and asking you to please be careful.
“Ah, enemies on the left!” she pointed through the earpiece, as you turned to your left, you heard the gunfire coming from the right. “Sorry-you-your other left!”
“Since when do we have two lefts?!” you exclaimed, running for cover. Yes, Priya is clueless, but she does the best she can. Her mind works on another level, altogether.
But she'll always be on her toes when you get back from missions! Asking you how everything went and probably also checking if you have any injuries to take you to the local medics, even if you have nothing, a simple breath or a sigh will cause different scenarios to plant themselves in her head.
But it's strictly concern… right?
✦ If you'd rather stay in the interior.
Sorry, but now you have a flea jumping up and down next to you all day. Either that or the other way around and you're with her learning everything she teaches you. This is probably the easiest way to get closer and get to know her more and vice versa.
“Wow, can I- can I touch-? I mean- it's- it's very striking and I've never seen one from- a real na'vi-” she indicated pointing to your kuru. You gave her a soft smile and took your queue gently, spreading it out.
“Be careful.” you indicated, looking into her eyes with a smile.
And in Priya's words, blushing and laughing nervously at that action is totally normal and platonic!
✦ Whatever you do, Priya will always be there, ready to tell you some story about when she was on earth and even explain various things, including her tattoo.
“Yeah, I'm a sucker for this type of things-” she explained, as you traced one of your fingers through the ink on her skin, surprised. “I- I know it's kinda lame and stuff, but you know-”
“It's very pretty.” you admitted, without taking your eyes off the drawing. “And you like it. I think that is enough.”
Quickly, she began to talk wildly and even though you didn't understand where she came from telling you about the thousands of tattoos humans got on earth, you just sat there while she circled around you. Like a moon. Uh-oh. PRE-RELATIONSHIP ¡!
✦ Everyone knew it. It's obvious. In how she's after you, asking if you've eaten yet. Asking if you're tired. Asking if you want to do something fun with her or whatever.
✦“My eyes are hurting,” Nor complained to the side. “Imagine me…” spoke Anqa, folding her arms, watching as Priya tried in a very hurried way to invite you to see the stars together.
“Let's hook up- I- I mean-! Hang out-! Let's hang out- stargazing-!” she hurried to speak, feeling her face blush in a hurried way and you laughed, not quite understanding the meaning of that, but you nodded. “I like stars.” ✦ I think this is also where her first insecurities would arise. I mean, yes, it could be that she likes you-which she won't admit yet, though she's always kick her feet like a teenage girl when you give her some little hair accessories that Ri'nela or Nor helped you make-but it's impossible to make it work, right? Like- a human and a na'vi. Her race caused the death of many of yours- and also the difference in cultures- though not too much, as your life was raised similar to hers, but that's not good and besides--
Your four fingers brushed her arm and so, she came back to reality quickly, looking at the sky through her mask and looked at you. Your hair fell down your sides and in your dilated eyes - the ones he would admire for hours - the stars and indeed, the moon looked incredible.
"You were about to tell me about your star, Priya." you helped her remember, but her gaze was, somehow, calm and her eyes had a sweet glimpse. "You're very pretty, you know that?"
A few seconds passed where you didn't know what to say and immediately, Priya stood up, embarrassed and slipping off the rock. If it hadn't been for you holding her, she might have broken her mask.
“And you're very clumsy, you know that?”
Your laugh made her blush a little, but seeing your smile all at once she knew she had to do something. To hell with her ideas. She had to at least say her feelings.
✦ So, this girl is SMITTEN. And it shows, but it's very difficult to her try to say it because her words can't express it and she knows that in this world, is very difficult to 'court you' in your clan ways...because there's no clan.
✦ And with that, she gets the best idea. 'You're a genius, Priya!' she pat her own back.
✦ Impress you. That's it.
✦ She does a lot of things. Starting with showing you the most wonderful flowers that you could imagine it until giving you clothes, but like-- actual clothes for you, not the whole clothes made for warriors.
✦ And if you give her praises and compliments? She's giggling, covering her face with both hands. At this point, if you don't notice, you're blind.
✦ Have you seen those videos where a woman talks to their partners with a high pitched voice and they are like SO excited?? yeah, that's her. She's a golden retriever girlfriend. Totally. 100%.
✦ And no. She didn't confess first. It was you.
✦ And wanna know a secret?
She fell first and harder.
LOVERS ¡!
✦ Have you seen that guy on Reddit who once said something like 'I'm in love with my wife' and tells in the post that despite being with her for years he still gets excited to see her? Ya, ramp up the excitement and you've got Priya as a partner.
✦ She will never and I repeat, never get over the 'honeymoon' stage with you. Never. She loves you above all else and loves being smaller than you. She will also do different hairstyles on your hair, she will seek to make clothes for you - asking So'lek for help mainly - and she will also seek more about your culture.
✦ She will look for thousands of ways she can compensate for the idea that she doesn't have an avatar to be with you with different things. Mainly the company.
✦ Yes, she loves being in front of screens, but one way or another, she'll try to spend a lot of quality time with you in the woods, asking you to show her a few things (she keeps trying to impress you and was once chased by an animal. Her screams were very funny to hear, but you won't tell her because she will pout and whine).
✦ Please carry her in your arms. She loves to do it. She loves sleeping with you, she loves being with you. She has no emotional dependence, but she loves your closeness. She loves to listen to your heartbeat, to hold your hand, to trace the freckles on your body, everything.
✦ Probably if her friends make fun of her she will defend herself by saying they are jealous that they don't have a girlfriend as amazing as you… and then go hug you.
✦ "Oh. I'm thinking of her... that means she's thinking of me too!" Priya smiled to So'lek, who huffed and rolled his eyes.
✦ "Let's adopt a viperwolf. It's like a dog. And like our kid!" Maybe you weren't right, but you were pretty sure that you cannot have a viperwolf of your own... but if that makes your girlfriend happy, sigh, you suppose you could have one.
✦ She totally brings you to EVERY conversation she has with her team.
✦ Modern!AU but Priya would be a sucker for couple trends in tiktok. She would have a whole account just for both of you and would erase EVERY hate comment. And then she would mumble to her in the shower about how she could have answer it and humiliate them because talking bad about her AMAZING SWEET CARING INCREDIBLE GIRLFRIEND is off limits.
✦ And definitely she will explain you some pet names. She loves to call you: Love, sweetheart and his favorite... cupcake. Yes. You don't know what it is, but she is very happy to call you that.
✦ She said ''I love you' first. Two days after you confess. Sorry, that's how this relationship works.

DELICATE ;; NETEYAM
summary ;; three short moments with neteyam.
pairings ;; neteyam x fem!na'vi!reader
warnings/notes ;; mentions of war and wounds ;; very short, honestly. just a few ideas i had for one-shots for neteyam.
word count ;; 0.5k
Tumblr media
✦ "I hate war."
Those were the words that left your lips once you finished cleaning the wounds of one of your companions, hearing Neteyam approach from behind you. You felt his chest lean against your back and his warmth was enough to make your lips quiver.
"I know, I hate this too. Not knowing if our brothers will come back… not knowing if Eywa will allow us a day of rest…" he murmured, slipping his arms across your chest and you intertwined your fingers with his.
"Ma Neteyam…" without looking at him, you spoke again, your voice almost cracking. "Promise me you will take care of yourself."
"I promise, Ma Txe'lan" he rested his cheek on your shoulder, sighing.
✦ "Wanna play?"
You laughed as you signaled your ikran companion to hasten flight, hearing Neteyam's laughter behind you and thus the squawks of his ikran, following you.
"Depends!" you indicated at his words, passing under a floating mountain, hiding among some rocks and laughing softly, stroking the head of your ikran, who squawked silently.
"Gotcha!" from the side, Neteyam appeared flying, causing both you and Syo to swoop down, amused. "Oh, please, it's your turn!"
"Prove it!" you looked up at him through your windblown hair, meeting his gaze and determined, he continued the flight after you, grinning.
✦ "Boo!"
Neteyam opened his eyes and trying to keep his balance, he swung his tail and arms forward, but it was inevitable, he fell backwards into the water and you burst out laughing, climbing down from the tree.
Watching him come out, you couldn't help but keep laughing, holding on to the trunk and crouching lower and lower. He gave a hiss, feigning annoyance and you felt your tail being grabbed, cutting off your laughter abruptly as you fell into the water.
"I can't believe it, you're a sore loser!" you laughed, tossing your hair back, catching your breath once you surfaced.
"Me? Excuse me, but I got to the waterfalls first!" he spoke mockingly, sitting down on one of the rocks over there, shaking his head to dump the rest of the water and thus, his braids, knocking you around a bit. "You were the one who decided - as a sore loser - to scare me" he smirked at you, as he gave you a soft smack on the nose, making you frown.
"At least I didn't get scared being a warrior" you rolled your eyes, smiling and felt two of his fingers dig into your sides, making you squirm, in between laughs. You tried to remove his hands, but it was impossible. Between the rocks, your hair was still getting a little wet, but you were too busy laughing and snorting to worry about that.
"Who's the warrior, huh?" he asked, smiling at your giggles and playful desperation, still tickling you, but you threw some water at him with one of your hands, causing him to cover up and stop for a few seconds.
You smiled at him with amusement and hugged him, slipping your arms around the back of his neck, pulling him to you and rolling with him to the right side, re-entering the water, this time together, amidst giggles.

✦ You've always caught his attention and once you're both a couple, of course he'll go out of his way to show you how much he loves you.
✦ That's why it's the first night when you're an established couple that he hums a song while cradling you in his arms.
✦ When you were friends, Neteyam was quite shy to show his intentions, but once the courtship began, he quickly demonstrated his self-confidence to be close to you. That didn't mean that now as a couple he would stop surprising you and making you smile.
✦ "You have always had a unique pattern, Ma Txe'lan*" he purred, looking into your eyes.
"I thank Eywa for allowing me to share this life with you…" he ran one of his fingers across your cheeks and you knew perfectly well that he traced your bioluminescent freckles, bringing them together in his mind and by the look in his eyes, you could tell he was very much in love.
"Aren't you ashamed?" you laughed, trying to hide your face in your hands, but he stopped you, not taking his gaze from yours for a second.
"With you? Never."
✦ Neteyam likes your freckles, he loves them. Every pattern on every part of your body, let's see how he appreciates them! FACE
✦ He likes to count them. He learned it from his father, actually. He would listen as his father would count his mother's freckles in english all night long until they both laughed because he always lost count.
✦ One, two, three. One pattern over your cheek, another heading for your jaw. Yes, Neteyam knows the number of freckles on your face by heart. Even without being asked, he would admit that he has counted them all before going to sleep, when you have your eyes closed and show that close to your eyes you have some other hidden one that is only seen in the vicinity of a hug.
✦ Sometimes you hear him murmur to himself before waking up. You feel his fingertips run closely over your skin, doing his best not to touch you, but you feel the warmth of his hands run over your face. Then he tosses your hair back and checks to see if there are any he missed.
✦ You couldn't blame him, could you? It's easy to lose count when you're in his arms, asleep. Regardless of whether you're comparing yourself to a Palulukan* growling in your sleep or sleeping with your mouth open.
✦ Oh, it looks like he lost count again! You can't leave until he kisses all the freckles to make sure he got the ones he counted with his fingers alone.
UPPER BODY
✦ Once he stopped counting the freckles on your face, he has a new target - your body, of course! Although this also comes with your neck... and shoulders. In short form: let's continue with your upper body.
✦ Neteyam considers himself someone who loves physical contact. He always has. And added to that, he's someone who is very perceptive.
✦ So don't be surprised if, one night before dinner, Neteyam arranges your hair and neural queue to the side - it's not to count your freckles! It's simply because he thought a seed had fallen on the back of your neck. No, his smirk doesn't mean anything, but fun fact, you have seven little sparkles on the back of your neck in the shape of a star.
✦ On your collarbone there are some freckles worth mentioning, he doesn't run his fingers, he prefers to rest his lips softly and tenderly, needing nothing more than his deep and devoted love towards a highly vulnerable place for you.
✦ The quickest way to assassinate a na'vi on Pandora is their collarbone. An easy place to access if you're a predator… or if you're their mate. But only one of those options actually kills you, right?
✦ "Haha, what are you doing?" you asked, trying to see out of the corner of your eye what Neteyam was doing, hiding in the hollow of your neck. "You're tickling me."
✦ The answer is clear. Count. Not many, it should be clarified. If Neteyam could write, he would keep all his progress written down and how there's barely fifteen.
✦ There is a specific line that travels around your collarbone to the center point of your chest, in the middle of your breasts. He likes to trace it, as if it were an arrow hinting where he had to keep counting, as if your own body wanted someone to appreciate your tanhì*, as if in reality, Eywa knew that your body should only be adored by him alone.
✦ Running his hands across your chest, he can get to a few other freckles hidden under your armpits, hidden in your ribs and a few more that are reaching your waist, but stop there! Don't think Neteyam has forgotten another very important part of you, the one he adores the most, in fact!
✦ Your arms. Oh, how this boy loves your arms. Soft to embrace him in the night, sweet to hold him in his moments of greatest pain and strong to stand up for themselves, hard to protect your people.
✦ The brightest area of your body is your arms. Even though you have a couple of scars from past wounds from bad times, it doesn't mean you can't appreciate them as you deserve. Like you deserve.
✦ You know you have some scars, some bigger than others. Some that may be burns, bullet grazes, blade cuts, but no matter what it is, Neteyam will still take care of your already healed wounds. He prefers to focus on the present, where nothing bad has happened and where more than anything else, you prove that no matter what happens, you are still you.
✦ There are several wounds that interrupt the amount of stars on your arms, but it's not a hindrance.
✦ He will pretend they are still there and even, squint his eyes and get really close to see. Maybe he can still see how much they shine.
✦ The backs of your hands also have several. Well, both scars and little stars. You have some small cuts from your own knife, when you were sharpening wood or cutting fruit, as well as others you got in your youth. Oh, but it seems that you don't have more, so let's continue.
LOWER BODY
✦ We stay at your waist, don't we?
✦ Neteyam tends to trace the patterns gently at night, when you sleep or simply, when you are both snuggled up to each other. He go down from your waist to your hip, and then continue down your lower back or go all the way to your thighs. Sometimes, playfully and if you're awake, your own tail gives his a gentle flick.
✦ "What was that for?" he asked, laughing as you rolled over. You smiled and with two of your fingers, pretended to catch his nose.
"You take too long to count." To your words, he responded teasingly with a gentle nibble on your hand.
✦ Your thighs don't have too many, though there are a few straight lines running all the way to your knees from the back. Near where your tail is born, there are also some. They are most noticeable when you both go to the waterfalls for a relaxing bath.
✦ Your butt has some, but these go back up your back, so sometimes if he gets to run his hands through there, you hiss from shivering. He should count them another time.
✦ He has rarely been able to see the ones on your calves. Mostly he does it when he massages your feet after an extended trip or after a hunt that didn't turn out the way you expected. On your left ankle you have two that with a scar looks like a smiley face.
✦ Wow! He's counted all your freckles, he feels quite proud to now know your body. Oh, do you want to know how many there are? Mhm, maybe he could tell you if you counted his too!
✦ What did you expect? With you, Neteyam has no shame.
✦ Although he may have forgotten some out there… He should count them again, just in case. You don't mind, do you?

being truly honest, i think english as a first language is an easy way to live, i mean, you don't make the same mistakes as someone who is not a native, you know? kinda hate to always translate everything, read everything twice or more just to see if you write it right in the first attempt or if the translator wasn't the best.
it sucks to know that sometimes the words can't come out because you don't remember it and you need to check everything again. because your language isn't the one who everyone NEEDS to know as a signature in school, to look for better opportunities. because your language isn't the UNIVERSAL language.

Hi! I was wondering if you’re still taking requests if so i was wondering if you could do a oneshot of so’lek x na’vi fem reader who is a warrior but is told not fight by medics and even so’lek at the resistance since she has chronic back pain but downplays it and acts as if it doesn’t affect her.
Like for example she goes on her own to fight rda despite what the medics say and comes back limping around as if nothing happened
I hope you understood that and sorry if its too long. I wanted to request this cuz i really like your writing so id really appreciate you if you make it, if you dont its totally fine.

You cut the rope with your teeth, spit some of it out as you finished knotting and securing the basket you had accidentally broken earlier. You knew you were taking your time, but if you wanted your lie to stand, you had to try your best.
You stretched your body forward a bit more, almost crashing your chest into the ground to finish tidying everything up and gave a sharp inhale to stand up, feeling the sharp pain spread through your lower back, as it always did every time you had a sudden movement.
"And now…" with your foot, you lifted the fruits into the air so the basket could pick them up and once you were ready, you turned your attention to the path you'd had memorized forever. You were coming that way, you were going back that way. "On your way" you spoke to yourself, smiling.
Yes, there was a little blood on your clothes, but it wasn't yours, so your concern was minimal. You didn't abandon your big smile, even when, upon arriving at the headquarters, some humans already seemed to be waiting for you outside, with grimaces of obvious annoyance.
"You know what we told you! Are you even listening to us now?" one of them asked, but you swung your leg over his head, humming one of your clan's songs, disinterested. The tingling was present again, but as you threw your trunk forward, it stopped after a few seconds.
"Mother who brings us honor and life…" you continued to sing, putting the food aside and obviously ignoring the doctors at your back. Ha, funny. "Guiding our hearts through every strife..."
"It's not funny!" shouted your name this time one of the girls. "Do you think your life is just a game? You said you were going fruit picking and look at you!"
You analyzed yourself from head to toe, cocking your head to the side.
"Yes… and I brought fruit." You showed the basket, crammed with several, brightly colored and some not so much. "Finding a campsite a couple of minutes away wasn't something I expected either, but hey…" you laughed, tousling her hair. "That's on you guys for not letting me know it was so close. Maybe if you had told me, I would have given more thought to…going and helping out at all" even though you said those words, it was a lie. And you knew it. Everyone knew it.
Please, a Na'vi who would not want to go and put her life in danger knowing that her condition was thanks to the humans still in the land where she was born? It was impossible, you smiled, running your tongue over your teeth and pausing on your canines, with visible annoyance.
"You know you're not allowed to leave, everyone here has told you that. Even the warriors" she continued speaking, with concern and weariness in her voice. You had identified it for quite some time.
"I'm glad you have a good memory." you commented, pulling out a fruit and leaving your now arrowless bow in a corner. Although you looked at it from time to time, last time, they tried to hide it. "But I'm also sure you remember… that I'm an adult and I do what I do because I have to help my people…" your voice, as always, although understanding, was mocking. Maybe because the people who now cared for you annoyed you a little, always on you, as if they were your parents, as if it wasn't their own kind's fault that you had problems that now wouldn't allow you to fight.
"That's enough" you saw So'lek, just coming out of healings. You laughed a little to yourself, of course, just what you needed. Send the best warrior to talk to his own race. You ate some fruit, walking away from the place, grabbing your bow again and hissed at the pain in your back that bending over just a bit generated.
"Yeah, I think that was enough time off" you spoke between grunts. So'lek's scent reminded you of what you couldn't be and being in the same space as him complicated you. You didn't hate him, but you envied his state. Healthy, free, not needing humans to follow him wherever he went because his back worked perfectly fine.
Everything you couldn't be.
...
"How are you feeling?" asked Dr. Alma, looking at you passively. You scoffed, but shrugged, not responding. "Anything new to add?" you denied. "Everything as usual?"
"As usual" you concluded, trying to stand up, but the wires attached to you stopped you, you only managed to move the machines with you and the woman's hand rested on your shoulders, seeking to reassure you.
"Okay, I understand that this situation is not to your liking, but it's the only way you can get back to being better. That's what you're looking for, isn't it? To go and fight? To go back to being a hunter? A warrior?" she sounded almost sweetly, as if it wasn't something that was repeated to you every day. You sighed, taking the wires off in one fell swoop, tossing them aside and groaned as you stood up from the gurney, this time taking a couple of steps away from her.
"Be somebody, Dr. I want to be somebody again" you clarified, feeling the obvious annoyance in your body. Whenever you had revisions, something always told you to get out of there, the discomfort, your intuition, your instincts. You didn't belong in a place full of numbers you didn't understand or complex words only understood between humans or puppets.
Walking through the halls, you couldn't help but feel that the stares were heavier than ever. More than every day. You were a warrior, they must have been afraid of you! Why were they looking at you with pity?
As you left that space, that steel cage, you felt the scent of nature, the flowers growing around you, the animals talking to each other, communicating with life.
You noticed a small fire on one side. So'lek was there, checking his songcord. He seemed alone. You sharpened your eyes, wondering if it would be a good idea to approach him.
Whenever you saw him, you thought about how different they were. He was a full-fledged warrior, the humans respected him enough not to talk to him too much and many of the na'vi warriors from other clans who came recognized him for what he was, a brave companion and brother who sacrificed day and night for mother earth, for his people, for all the fallen, for each of you. You could take months counting day by day all those he had saved, throwing himself into danger. Even there you were, several times he had done his best to save you from the humans. When your arrows ran out, when your back pain was the most unbearable and left you helpless.
It was him. And that pissed you off. Because you always owed your life for him, but you could never save him. Because you couldn't. Your body couldn't afford something so extreme. As if it were ceramic, as if it were glass. Like an article of clothing that could easily be cut or snagged on a branch. That's why it was best to keep it tucked away, hidden from anyone who could hurt it.
"I see you, So'lek" you greeted, extending your hand towards him and he, with a calm look, nodded, closing his eyes.
"I see you."
You sat down next to him, getting into a specific position that could avoid the sharp pain in your lower back, almost reaching your thighs. You hissed, settling in.
"I see the pains are still present. The humans have not been able to help you?" he asked politely. You denied, squeezing your eyes shut a little and no longer feeling anything, you gave a sigh.
"Not really. I don't think they can do anything for me." you admitted, watching the wood burn for a few seconds. On the other side, So'lek was still looking at you, in a way you couldn't quite identify. You didn't want to believe it was pity. He should see you as an equal, shouldn't he?
"In the morning… Why did you go to the camp?" you watched him settle in and could almost feel scolded. "You could have hurt yourself on the way there and you don't have weapons like theirs. It was stupid. Impulsive."
"Because I'm stupid… and impulsive. Like a Bone Helm Rhino" you smiled at the last. They tended to call you that. You were stubborn, too stubborn not to accept that going and shooting humans was suicide for you.
"Yes, I think I see the similarity" he nodded and you looked at him. He mimicked your action and you looked down, not out of embarrassment, but out of discomfort. You weren't used to being close to him and a conversation couldn't lead you to that. "A warrior who can't fight… almost like a fable of our people…" he commented and you looked at him again. This time, you didn't look away.
"I don't like that title. I prefer something more ostentatious, like 'wounded warrior who follows to the death'" you tried to take the weight off your troubles, but you saw him settle back, cocking his head to one side.
"Bone Helm Rhino it is, then."
"A good title…if I knew how to wear it right."
"'Foolish inflexibility and unyielding determination are two sides of the same coin, Warrior" he commented, slowly getting to his feet, handing you some arrows. "You choose what you want to prove. Take a chance, but be wise with your decisions. Do not allow yourself to die. Your people… we are waiting for you at the end of the day."
You preferred to believe that the warmth spreading through your body was because of the campfire and not because his words were something that made you feel good. And for the first time in a long time, a feeling passed over the tingling that spread from your back down. Peace.
You looked at the arrows in your hands and settled back, hugging your legs. The bonfire would be extinguished before long, but you decided to stay outside a while longer.
" Unyielding determination…" you whispered to yourself. The only witnesses to that were the night and the small insects flying around. "Yeah, I guess that doesn't suit me" you laughed a little, for every chuckle, a little strum in your lower back pulled the muscles around it.
"Not even a little bit".
...
"You're doing good. Now, raise your arm a little more" you felt his hand tilt your elbow up and took a couple of breaths to keep from thinking about the pain. "How do you feel?"
"Like my insides are going to explode, thanks for asking" you spoke in a slightly higher pitched tone of voice and saw the opposite nod.
"Yes, I was told you might feel that way" you knew he wouldn't do it in front of you, but you noticed how he held back a small smile and you raised an eyebrow, grimacing "Eyes front. Both eyes open. You know where you need to aim" he indicated and you nodded. "Good. Shoot" you slowly released your breath and pulled the trigger.
"Perfect. You didn't hit the target. I didn't expect you to" he took the gun for you though. "The Kame'tire Clan's meds are just trying to take effect on you after all."
"So this was all just to make fun of me?" you asked, still in a bit of pain, but slowly dissipating. You denied, emptying the magazines.
"For testing. See if you could handle the gun and its weight. At least this way you can be more protected if you keep sneaking off to RDA camps" he commented nonchalantly and you got a little self-conscious.
"You don't mind if I go?"
"It's not a question of whether I care or not. It's about your safety. As long as you're secure and alive, I think I have worse things to worry about" he admitted. You smiled a little and before he left - because these 'classes' were brief because of his missions - you took his wrist.
"Thank you, So'lek. For… making me feel like someone again."
He hesitated a bit to respond. Avoiding looking you in the eye.
"You've always been someone. The only one who thinks differently is you, Nawkx" he nodded slightly and you let go. "But I'm glad I brought you back to a good view of yourself."
You smiled to yourself and cocked your head to one side, watching him leave. This time, there was no campfire to evade your thoughts about him.
But it didn't bother you at all to deny it.
"Thinking of something?" you looked to the side of you, So'lek arranged one of the feathers dangling from your hair. You shook your head, smiling as you set the basket full of fruit down in the center of the table. "I hope you didn't go to fight humans again?" you feigned indignation, with a chuckle.
"Me? Fighting humans? How dare you…" you cut the root of one of the fruits with the blade "After all, there are almost none."
"Exactly, almost. You always manage to find them." he reminded you and you rolled your eyes, turning to hug him. "Don't think it'll work like the old days… I can smell your lies."
"Oh, silly me, thinking I could outwit my mate with a show of affection so I could go fight like the warrior I used to be" you faked your voice, throwing your head back and reaching past your back, So'lek's strong arms held you.
"The warrior who couldn't fight and did it anyway. A good tale to tell."
"Just telling. Living it is a bit boring" you snuggled into the space between his neck, purring a little. A dry chuckle came from his throat and he nodded.
"I can imagine, Ma Nawkx."
