I can't stop thinking of knitting Astarion a blanket.

Maybe it's because I'm elbow deep into crocheting baby clothes but who knows

Like, imagine knitting or crocheting Astarion a blanket. Because everyone else managed to bring something along for the journey when the mindflayers kidnapped you, you had a backpack and some coin, same for Laz'el, and Shadowheart and Gale and probably everyone else, but not Astareon.

He has nothing, not a coin to his name. Just a dagger, a bow, and a few arrows. He steals what he needs to make his tent but he's all too aware that none of it is really his.

And then he sees you working on your project by the fire, sipping on a mug of steaming tea or coffee. He sees you wandering around villages and random groups of people, bartering your way to some yarn.

Of course he's curious. But he'd never ask, because, obviously, it would never be any of his business. It could never be for him. And then, after working on it at any moment you could, you come to him one night with the blanket neatly folded in your hands.

"I don't know if you get cold," you say, "But I thought you might want a blanket if you do."

You're so awkward, you know Astarion likes the finer things in life. He likes luxury, and this is hardly luxury. It's a dark blue, but only because you died it. The yarn you bartered never came in the same colour and sometimes it wasn't even the same thickness. You tried to match it as best you could, but it wasn't perfect.

Astarion notices it and for the first time in his very long, miserable life. He doesn't give a shit. Because it's his. Completely, 100%, his own thing. Cazador has never touched this, he has never seen this, he will never lay a finger on his blanket. And the fact that it's his is only overshadowed by the fact that you made it for him. Not because he likes you, he's not even realised that yet, or not properly anyway, but because you looked at him, fangs, sarcasm, blood thirst and all, and decided you were going to take a tenday and make a blanket to gift to him. You decided he was worthy of yarn, time and effort. All so he could be a little warmer at night.

That blanket might not be worth much, if anything, but when you're as used as Asterion is to being worth less than shite, it's like happening upon a vault of precious diamonds.

He doesn't say thank you, he just grabs it from you and tries to act nonchalant. Because if he opens his mouth, he might actually just start crying.

not enough people are into shadowheart/nocturne and it makes me feel insane. like what do you MEAN shadowheart used to beat up people who deadnamed nocturne. what do you MEAN shadowheart would frequently have her memories wiped, but nocturne could get her to remember nocturne in a matter of HOURS if not minutes, and would write on her diary about how happy it'd make her to see the expression on shadowheart's face when she remembered? what do you MEAN that if you give shadowheart the noblestalk, a mushroom so rare and potent there is only ONE of them in the entire game, she doesn't remember her parents or the day with the wolves or the mother superior's name but just nocturne? what do you MEAN nocturne was the one who did shadowheart's hair, and she kept at it until her arms were sore, and even without remembering that at all shadowheart still kept the same canonically hard to redo hairstyle? did shadowheart even like night orchids before their hideout, or did they become her favorite flowers because they were there? were they even actually her favorite flowers, or did she just mix up her attachment to nocturne with attachment to the flowers after forgetting her? hello? hello? can anybody hear me????

Connie's new life purpose after defeating the elder brain is to give Shadowheart at least a taste of all the happy stuff he experienced when he was a kid. He's also very motivated to give her anything she never had while living in the cloister.

My first Tav X Minthara.

Astarion and Tav having an argument at some point during Act I or earlier on in Act II, and Astarion thinking that means no more Tav blood (or humanoid blood) because the group's leader is unhappy with him enough as it is and he doesn't want to risk pushing his luck (especially if he was ultimately in the wrong and knows that, but it still too proud/stubborn to just admit it and/or apologize). Astarion is obviously going to be weaker now and eventually Tav pulls him aside when this nearly causes him to get very badly hurt to speak with him. This is when Astarion learns that Tav had noticed he wasn't coming to them for blood, but assumed that he had just found another way to handle it himself and didn't bring it up because they didn't want to nag him about it or come across as controlling over how he fed himself. When Tav realizes Astarion assumed that their argument meant that asking to feed from Tav would be a no-go, Tav is horrified by the idea that Astarion has been starving himself again because he felt like he couldn't ask to be fed due to an argument (and obviously sets him straight—affectionately—that instant).

Basically, Astarion learns about the wonders of healthy communication and how easily it can solve a lot of problems (both real and perceived).

Good thing Tav is so sweet to him <3. You think so highly of him too. This is already so well-thought out , there's no way for me to improve what you already wrote here.

I can't help but think of the time he opened up about his scars and I'd choose the "you can feed on me tonight" option bc i felt bad for him hahah.

😅 Guess I shouldn't be too surprised about that, with how many thingies I've sent you.

Just don't forget to include the tags that can help other folks like myself be able to find your work (like the '#bg3', '#bg3 raphael', '#haarlep', '#halsin x tav', and so on) so that they get the chance to enjoy your fan work, too. I can't speak for other people, but searching for those kinds of tags are how I found most of the blogs I check in on now.

Anyway, that's enough out of me for right now. I'm going to go try to recount how many soft/sweet/non-steamy thingies I sent you because I lost track of how many I left you with for each character you're interested in (my goal was to leave you with at least two in your inbox per character you're interested in and then replace them as you responded to them).

Alright, I'll start doing better with general tagging now ;;w; The fandom as a whole can be scary. I feel like if I want to contribute, I have to write full fics, or I'm not worthy of my spot in the main tags sdfjskdf. I know it's silly. You're right, though. It'd also be good for others who may want to filter out certain things.

If you need help counting, let me know! Are you still good with the pace of me answering asks? If it's sometimes too much at once, I can schedule them out over time, if that's a better fit?

Starting the day after tomorrow, I will be gone from my PC for a week or two, but I'll still be around and I'll be responding whenever I can (and have proper ideas to share) from my phone still. Maybe a few more typos, and I may take longer (or I may go faster, bc I'll be ✨off work✨). I'm saying this so you know nothing has changed and I'm still very happy to receive your musings in my inbox 💖. Secretly, I always used to be a pen and paper girly, so i look forward to returning to that way of writing for a bit!

If Astarion remained a spawn and expressed disappointment that he won't be able to turn into a bat, then maybe Halsin offers to teach him druidic magic to him once everything has calmed down so Astarion can just Wild Shape into a bat. Astarion could even pick up some healing spells to heal Tav or anyone he drinks blood from.

That's so deeply wholesome 🥺

I think Halsin is an amazing person for Astarion to hang out with, because Halsin is so generous and never expects anything in return for his kindness. If Astarion could learn to wildshape into a bat, it would also reinforce his idea that he is not missing out on much by having skipped the ritual. I'm coming to this with the belief that no matter which route he has taken, ascended or not, in the end he's happy with his choice entirely.

I don't know if Astarion himself would ever bring up learning healing spells just to heal the person he feeds on, but that's why the Astarion x Tav x Halsin polycule works so well! hahaha :)) Halsin balances Astarion out perfectly on many fronts, and they can learn a great deal from each other - and I want to love them both.

Rolan and/or Gale each wanting to show off for Tav with a display of magic but, instead of just doing it Tav in front of Tav, he puts on a little show of his magic for a group of people (the boy is nervous); he makes sure Tav gets the best spot in the audience, up towards the front and closer to him. However, when he inevitably glances over to gauge Tav's reaction, he catches Tav not looking admiringly around his display but instead admiringly at him.

I do see Rolan easily getting startled by Tav's admiring gaze... Tips of his ears get a lil hot maybe ✨. Also, did he do all this work to impress them for nothing?? At least they seem impressed...

The nail in the coffin of being down bad for Tav, would be them coming up to him afterwards and hugging him, before showing him in compliments. He boasts about his techniques, enough to have Cal and Lia roll their eyes, but you listen💕🌻. Catch the two of you ending the night later than anyone else, under the star light he shows you magic that's only meant for your eyes;;

would he seduce and corrupt them to add their soul to his collection? 👀 hmmmm who knows... After all, Haarlep wants to be the only one who has ever touched Tav, to make sure he means so much to them that they'll never leave him.

I don't see Haarlep outright fighting someone, but if he were to, he'd probably summon his trusty imps ✨ still, with Haarleps playful nature, even that seems unlikely. Better play someone and win, and have fun while he's at it.
