Hi!! Wow, I'm so happy to see you here. This is the corner of the author of Scales of Justice, where you can ask and get updates about the game! I'm not a native English speaker, so please excuse my mistakes.

With spring blooming all around us and summer creeping close, it's time to revisit friends both new and old... time for tensions to raise, for swords to clash, and for stories to be told.
What do you reckon is happening back in the Neutral Lands?

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!!
im just sad that i discovered it too early, cus of the cliffhanger i immediately searched for the part two :< but i was happy to know you're already starting for the book 2. Cant wait to read the demo of the book 2!
Hi anon!! Again, sorry for the slow reply - I will be returning to Tumblr shortly after sorting out some last stuff with family. My apologies!
Thank you for the absolutely lovely message!! It makes me so happy to see that people enjoy this book: it has a special place in my heart, not to say that the biggest joy of a writer is to see people enjoy their work! ^^
I am also deeply excited to share the demo for SoJ2 with you: now that I have time to write again, I hope I can share it with all of you soon enough! I am trying to take all the feedback from the first book and make this one even better.
Thank you again, have a lovely day!! xx

Hello. Just finished reading your book. Loved it, and also THE CLIFFHANGER! I also kinda wish we could romance silver demon cause he's such an intriguing character 🤔
Hi anon! So sorry for the slow reply - end of term is sure busy! I am so happy to hear you've enjoyed the game: even with all my work, I'm trying my best to deliver the next part to all of you as soon as I can, and I hope that I'll be able to pick up the pace soon ^^ And Silver Demon... some of you really liked the guy, huh? Well he's a cold-hearted, business-oriented, ruthless dealmaker... ...so make your offer. Thank you for the ask!! xxx

While deadline season is in full bloom and many of us are struggling through the workload, let's start with some small peeks of what's to come!! Have you ever considered how your bloodline might affect your MC? Now, that is a thing you can customise! Elven patterns, satyr horns, how does your MC present their heritage within their appearance? And for our lovely humans, fear not! There are other personalisable marks available to you, too: tattoos and scars are now memories you can wear with pride or gloom, or both. More to come soon...

SMALL UPDATE
Hello dear readers!
I'm sorry I have disappeared for a while - university is once again getting very difficult with workload and commitments, so my spare time is often handicapped by tiredness and lack of sleep. However, I am slowly advancing through the first chapter of Scales of Justice 2: hopefully, I'll be able to come back with a more consistent update soon enough!
Otherwise, I know I have not been very active here, so I would like to get back to a more usual routine to keep us connected. I know I owe a few things, and I will get to them in due time, but I would like to know what you'd want me to prioritise for the time being - what do you enjoy the most out of this blog?
I hope your weeks are going well! I wish us all to have a quiet one ^^

Hello Julia! Thank you for the amazing book! It has been many years since I experienced attachment to a book character, but now I'm obsessed with Arion ✨
I'm curious about the origin of the name "Asha". I have a hypothesis that it is not a fake name entirely unrelated to their real one, but a diminutive of Arion/Aria, and this connection is not obvious to people outside of Vannais
Hi anon!!
I'm so happy to hear that my book has had such an effect on you; A, on the other hand, is looking a bit bewildered - what have they done now?!
When picking their pseudonym, A wanted to go for something neutral and quick, easy to remember but also easy to forget. Also they wanted something that started with the same letter as their name so they don't get confused. 😆
But it is also not wrong to think about it as a diminutive! Honestly not the thought process I had when picking it, but it makes too much sense... and A certainly isn't the most subtle person 😂
Thank you for the lovely ask!

That cliffhanger was cruel 😭 I feel like the Geneva convention needs to address this I need more 😭
They will never catch me! 👀
Alternatively, if they do, I won't be able to publish the next part at all...
ANYWAYS, thanks for the ask!! 😃

Perhaps the most annoying thing that can happen is when you're in the middle of reading week for your course, therefore, free to do as much writing and coding as possible... and yet you just fall ill, so instead your brain is incapable of producing anything but white noise and looking at a screen for too long makes you want to crawl into a corner and hide.
URRRRRGH....

Aaaand the results of the 4 polls are in!!
FIRST POLL: R
SECOND POLL: V
THIRD POLL: S
FOURTH POLL: A
You've got most of them correct, except for the first one! I was intrigued to see how many of you have decided to go with A for that one - choices are indeed important for them, but it remains to be seen how hard it is to make them conform with a taken decision!
Writing for Chapter 1 has meanwhile hit its 10K. As usual, I've decided to introduce some extra stuff into it, so I'm trying to make sure it all works the way I want it to work. Have you ever considered whether your MC has a scar? What shade and/or pattern their skintone has adopted, if they are a half elf? Or what shape their horns are? Now, you'll be able to tell!
More to come soon!!

JULIA
Just wanted to day how much I absolutely adore this book! But I did want to ask - how satisfied are you with this book? Obviously everyone is a much harsher self critic than is deserved (especially for such a great game as this) but would you change much now, looking back?
ANON Well... to answer that question I guess I first need to disagree with you - personally, I don't see it as a great game. Not to put it down: it's been hard work, I'm glad I did it, and I'm very, very happy so many people enjoy it, but it is true that there is no bigger critic to this game than myself.
Looking back, I do see things I would change. I started it as my first ever project in English, being inexperienced in interactive fiction, having never written something so long, so ambitious, with so many things involved. I learned from the process; I noted down where my faults lay, where I'd overdone in narration, where I was lacking variability, or where there were plot deliveries that weren't that well-made. I wouldn't change too much too drastically: I do believe the story I am telling is a good one. However, I would introduce more colours to it, more customisation, more small easter eggs and intricate webs of information that would make every playthrough oh so much more unique.
However, I believe myself to be a much better writer now. I've gotten so much better at it, both through this game and from my MA. While I'm still learning every day, I truly think that I can make a great game, or one that will surpass this one in all ways. I remember my mistakes and I'm applying what I've learned to polish corners, refine the experience, and hopefully, deliver something even more immersive and entertaining.
Just you wait!

hi! loving the game so far :) i just have a question. in galeya, is there a way to get “ashra” to agree to sharing a room with MC?
Hi anon!! I'm so happy to hear that you are enjoying the story xx
Yes, there is a chance to share room with your new acquaintance! However, they are quite a suspicious fellow, so you have to get your relationship with them up to a certain level for them to agree.
Thank you so much for the ask xx
MECHANICALLY: Basically, it should allow you to do so if you have 15 or higher relationship score. It is not that easy to achieve, as it is meant to be a challenge to get their trust!

Character Creation finally done! It has been tough to write it, so I've also been distracting myself with work on the first chapter... and I am quite excited to show it to all of you already! The aim and hope is to fully write and code it for the 2nd of February - in celebration of a whole month since the release of SoJ.
Also, I am SO GRATEFUL to all of you guys for keeping it top of the list... this feels surreal. I will do my best to make an even better game in the future!

I have never thought that revisiting my own book would be this hard. I am clinging to every mistake I see, criticising my choice of structure, options, variables... I know far too well what I'd do better, what I'd do differently if I sat down and re-wrote it.
Of course, all of it is useful, because now I can apply it to my next project and make it something better. But it feels hard nonetheless.
I'm glad that there are people who enjoy it - that's what motivates me to keep going, because sometimes I feel so insecure about my own writing that without all of you, it would be hard to see its good sides.
Anyways all of this to say that I'm building a Character Creator for SoJ 2 and I'm trying to make sure everything's accounted for the demo... a demo? Huh! There might be a demo coming soon!

Let's continue with these, for now, without any reveals: "When two stars shine too close, you may miss one."
"Are you telling me I'm a star?"
"Oh, I believe you're so much more than that."
