I’ll never forget the moment we kissed,
you were the first thing I could not resist.
Through clear starry nights and gold-pink sunrise,
you took my heart by surprise.
I should have known that this high won’t hold,
now I sink down the waters, my body already cold.
I should have swum, but I was busy clinging on
to the promises you made, when you were already gone.
You left me behind in my pain, it’s a dark and shiny place.
You’re a pond and I’m an ocean, but I’m drowning anyways.
Underwater, no last breath, no more seconds left to count.
If I don’t have you by me then I’ll go underground.
I’m nothing that you ever wanted to lean on,
so I made sure noone can.
When the floodwater comes, I won’t hold on,
I’ll swim with the current and float away.
I’ll let the river wash away the shards
of everything I am.
Pleasures and pain, my broken heart,
for which I am through finding blame.
I have no more than all you left of me,
a lost spirit wandering an empty shell.
But I’m more than a need, all you made me to be.
Just because I’m drowning, doesn’t mean I can’t raise hell.
