Hi, do you know the movie mommy dearest? There is a scene in the movie where a little girl refuses to eat her meat to test her toxic mother. For 2 or 3 days her mother forces her to finish her plate and gives her nothing else but she ends up giving in. I think that's the kind of fight that spider and quaritch could lead. What do you think? I had already asked the question to dumbasscryptyd but I would like your opinion.
I haven’t seen that movie but I’ve heard of it! From the sounds of this particular situation, I think spider would definitely be just as stubborn. Especially since he’s enemies with Quaritch at the start, he would genuinely rather starve than let Quaritch ‘win’. The lengths he’d go to just to test this new Quaritch out, while also staying true and honest to Jake and his people are quite extreme 😎

Hey! I used to kind of religiously read your work all the time when I was into Avatar. I moved on for a bit and that spark has come back so I searched ur user lol 🤣 Do you think when the new movies out you may carry on with the spider fics? They were so good!
Hi! ✨ that’s so sweet, thank you! Absolutely, I can definitely see myself writing again once A3 comes out. I’ve been yearning for the content for two and a half years so literally can’t wait 🙌🏻 there will be a resurgence in the fandom for sure, myself chief among them! Hope you’re doing well 💞💙💞💙

I love this! 💞💙
umm.. *yapping shit activated* so I posted it previously, well, September was pretty chill two months ago, so I let myself sink into my delulu ocean and drew this unfinished, obviously not good sketch:
Tumblr media
yeah- so in this AU(humans), by the age of 22 Spider decided to cut off his dreads, and during this transformations he and Kiri got back together...
I know some ppl see them as something platonic, as well as I do in atwow world, yet it's my own au, where Spider doesn't grow up with Sully's kids..
Hope my exams will go smoothly🦢
Love you all

H, I am so happy that you are continuing writing fics! I was just wondering if you had any plans to continue Oh No. the golf cart part was hilarious.
Thank you! I remember laughing so much when I wrote that 💀 I don’t have any plans to continue that one at the moment! Hopefully in the future though, if/when the inspo strikes for another silly/ridiculous scene! My favourite fic for that kind of vibe is Noodle though, I guess it was my first crack fic ❤️ thanks so much for asking! 💞💙💞💙

Hey, I just read the latest chapter of Merciless, and I'm so excited you decided to continue it! It's such an interesting concept.
How will the Sully family react to Spider's decision to stay with the western resistance? In the last chapter, Norm found Spider, so surely he'll send a message to Jake and co. to let them know Spider is okay and staying in the west? The kids were so worried about him when he was taken, so Norm must want to let them know he's okay as soon as possible.
Would Kiri and Lo'ak want to try and get Spider to come stay with them in Awa'atlu? And how would Neytiri feel about it? Would she feel relieved Spider is staying away from her family?
Hey! Thanks so much for the ask 🥰
Based on the fact that Jake managed to contact Norm when Kiri had her fit in the movie, he must have bought a radio or some other way to contact Norm long distance with them to Awa’atlu. What gets me is that we don’t see them use it for any other purpose, like checking if the Omatikaya are safe, or talking to Mo’at. Anyway, yes I’d imagine Norm would want to contact the Sullys at the earliest opportunity. They’d all be hugely relieved to hear that Spider had escaped Bridgehead. Lo’ak would think it’s the coolest thing ever that Spider is fighting with the resistance, and has probably daydreamed of joining him more than once. Kiri is the only one who is still largely worried for Spider, because what if he gets hurt in battle? She’s also confused and a little hurt about why he wouldn’t want to go back to the clan or come and live with the Sullys.
Neytiri’s reaction is simple. She thinks that finally Spider has found his place. She’s glad for him that he can fight and find a purpose, and also relieved of course that he’s not trying to work his way in with her family anymore. This is probably the best possible outcome for her, though she accepts her children are not thrilled.
I don’t think Kiri and Lo’ak would try to convince Spider to come and live with them, because deep down they respect his decision (even though Kiri is obviously hurt by it). Also, I don’t think they’d get the chance to speak to him at all. The radio that Jake has probably hasn’t not got the right specifications/the ability to hook up to the resistance’s network.
Thanks again for the ask! 💞💙💞💙

How would your cats in the cradle QUARITCH react if spider told him that he didn't have a problem calling him dad just that he didn't think of him as his father? If that makes sense.
Quaritch would be hurt for sure, as in his eyes, he's done nothing to deserve that kind of rebuttal. However he wouldn't show it, and it would probably manifest itself as anger (not towards Spider, but at the whole situation).
If this happened at the beginning of the fic, Quaritch would probably resolve to work even harder to 'win' Spider over, the results of which would probably come off as even more desperate (in Spider's eyes creepy) ways to get him back.
If it happened towards the end or in the epilogue, Quaritch's emotional reaction would be the same, but he'd have known by now that he couldn't just force Spider to see him in that way. He understands how his actions have affected Spider a whole lot better by the end, plus he's started to accept that maybe he doesn't deserve Spider after all (though he would never give up on the kid despite this).

The next chapter of Merciless is here! Let's ignore the huge hiatus, okay, I fully intend to get this one done and completed 😭
Summary so far: After General Ardmore's continued failure to get intel from Spider at Bridgehead, a greedy Frontier Operations Vice President and ex TAP administrator takes an unhealthy interest in the boy. With Ardmore's permission, he takes Spider to a research base in the Western Frontier to study his unique abilities from having grown up on Pandora. What neither of them were expecting however, was a bloodthirsty and revenge driven Na'vi warrior to show up to break Spider out.

Coucou. Ça fait un moment que tu ne poste plus, tes fanfictions me manque.
Hello. It's been a while since you posted, I miss your fanfictions.
Absolutely WILD that I get this ask on the day that I’ve really started to think about writing again. And thank you so much!! I’ve definitely missed writing and the avatar fandom so much. Life changes have happened since I was properly active, but I promise I’m still here and patiently biding my time for avatar 3. This time of year and the run up to Christmas is really making me so nostalgic for period of time when avatar 2 was in cinemas and I was going like, every week and writing A2 from Spider’s perspective🥺😭
I still keep thinking that if A3’s release date wasn’t pushed back to 2025, we’d all be soooo preoccupied right now with so much joy and it would be such a happy time 💔
Anywayyy here’s me saying I miss you guys, I miss writing and reading y’all’s fics, the theories, the memes, I miss it all! Tentatively thinking about posting a chunk of pre-written Merciless chapters that have been sat in google drive for over a year 💀who knows what else, but I’m slowly letting the creativity back in! 💞💙💞💙💕💙💕💙

hey !!!!!!! Just a quick little ask bc I’m stumped for inspiration at the minute: are there any other AUs you’ve thought about/been interested in other than canon divergence/modern AU?
Heya!! It’s been a minute 🥰
I would simply love the motivation to start juvenile detention Spider, with guard/steward Quaritch. That one has been on my mind for a while, but it was sent to me as someone else’s suggestion 💙
Other than that, I don’t really have anything else I’ve been thinking about (original ideas, I mean), I’m just enjoying rereading all the amazing stuff we have out already 🙌🏻
Good luck with your inspiration slump! Of course I’ll be there to read whatever it is you come up with! 💙💞💙💞

Hi! I know it’s been a long time, but I used to read your fanfic “If You’re Playin’ Me, That Means My Home Ain’t Home” a lot and I fell in love with it! I would read it on my breaks at work and it would make the time so much more bearable to pass. I was wondering what happened to it, as I stopped reading a certain way through due to personal life issues. Hope all is well!
Aww, this made my day 🥺💞 I’m so happy to hear that ~my~ fic was something that you looked forward to 💙
If You Playing Me is still up on AO3, for a while I made all my works private to registered users because of that ai business, but I’m going to turn that off now. I can give you a run down of how it ends or I can let you finish it? 😊
I hope all is good with you too, and thank you for checking in about it, like I said it’s made my day to think people still think about it 😭💞💙💞💙

Hi, I love all your Spider and Quaritch Fics. Can we get drunk Spider One shot talking about the McCosker?
Somewhere at the back of his brain, Spider knew he was talking bull. He knew he should probably stop, but he just couldn't quite find it in himself to care at this particular moment. "They never liked me," he announced, a slight slur contaminating his words. "And it's fine, I didn't like them either, to be honest." He huffed in amusement, looking towards the group of recoms that had huddled around the fire. He was expecting to see empathetic nods and laughter, but the firelight only illuminated looks of scepticism and, here and there, a smirk.
Zdinarsk replied first. "Sounds like we'd get on," she grumbled. Quaritch cast her a mutinous look, but Zdinarsk didn't see. "It's good to know this is all nothing new to you!"
Spider flipped her off with his left hand, while bringing the oversized beer can up to his lips for another swig. "Eh," he said. "You're not so bad."
At this, Quaritch's eyebrows collapsed into a frown, while the rest of the group shared looks of surprise at this revelation.
"Did I just hear that right?" Walker joked to Fike.
"I never thought I'd see the day!" Wainfleet cheered, raising his arms up as if to praise Eywa. "Budget Tarzan doesn't hate us anymore!"
"Pfft," Spider scoffed. "I wouldn't go that far. You're just nicer than the McCoskers, that's all."
"Jesus, kid," Walker exclaimed.
"The hell do you mean by that?" Quaritch said, leaning closer as a kind of pensiveness shrouded him.
Spider shrugged. He didn't feel like boosting anyone's ego any further than he already had. The buzz from the beer was starting to make him tired, and he wasn't interested in pursuing the topic anymore. He played distractedly with the moss at his feet, shredding it between his fingertips.
A rough boot to his thigh brought him back to the present. "Hey!" Quaritch snapped. "I asked you a question."
"Ow!" Spider bemoaned, but he wasn't really hurt. He lifted the beer can up to his lips again, but Quaritch snatched it away. At the man's glare, Spider realised he'd have to entertain this. "What?!"
"You can't just drop that the other side of the war has treated you better than your own goddamn foster parents and expect me to be cool with that."
Spider stared blankly at Quaritch. This was the first time they'd spoken about Spider's parental situation and it was beginning to sound a lot like the recom was getting protective. "You care, or something?"
If he wasn't buzzed from the alcohol, he wouldn't have missed the awkward silence that blanketed the camp, as each recom sat back on their haunches and watched the Colonel for his reaction.
As it was, it didn't seem like Quaritch knew what to say to this. He seethed, watching Spider intently.
Luckily, Spider didn't notice any of this, and spoke next of his own volition. "Nash is an asshole. They both have their own lives but he used to get so angry the moment I interfered with that, you know?"
"What was he mad at you for, existing?" Zdinarsk asked.
"I guess," Spider shrugged. "They had their own kids after a while and it was just easier for me to look after myself."
"No kidding," Wainfleet said reproachfully, eyeing Spider's matted hair and unkempt loincloth.
"So I started hanging out with Jake. I used to think it was so cool when he visited the shacks. Soon as I was old enough, I was outta there. S'how I met Kiri and Lo'ak."
"Your little forest friends?"
Spider side eyed Quaritch, but nodded.
“They keep out of our way, no harm’ll come to them.”
Perhaps that was Quaritch’s way of trying to reassure Spider he didn’t want to murder his only friends, but it was little comfort to Spider. “Why do they get a free pass? You’re fine with attacking and murdering everyone else but you draw the line at Kiri and Lo’ak? I’m honoured.”
“Ain’t nothing to you with you, kid. We’re not the monsters you think we are.”
Spider scoffed, but Wainfleet chose that moment to pipe up. “Hey, he just said he thinks we’re alright!”
“That is not what I said,” Spider grumbled.
Wainfleet made a disparaging noise. “Hm, I think it is kid, and you’re just in denial already.”
“It is not.” Truthfully, Spider had already forgotten exactly what he’d said - the conversation from the past couple of minutes had already merged into a bit of a fuzzy blur as a new wave of tiredness swept over him. “All I said is that I’d rather be around even your crusty asses than the McCoskers.”
On the other side of the campfire, Wainfleet sobered. He'd been teasing the kid in earnest so far, amusedly listening and winding him up when the situation called for it, but now he hesitated. It didn't sound right at all that Spider would make that confession, least of all surrounded by the very people he should hate. The corporal's eyes drifted from Spider's drunken form over to the Colonel. Quaritch had been watching the boy, but now seemed to be contemplating Spider's words himself. Their eyes locked across the fire. They didn't need words to communicate in that moment. Wainfleet had known Quaritch long enough to tell that Spider's revelations had unnerved him. He was able to hide it well, and Wainfleet knew that nobody else would pick up on it.
"Hey, get over here and let me teach you Rummy," Wainfleet called out to the boy, reaching for his deck of cards as he did so.
Spider groaned and made a face, but that didn't matter. It was the glint of gratitude in the Colonel's eyes that was why he offered.

I often see people describe Spider as a neglected child. Do you think that is totally accurate? Would Norm and the other scientists have set rules and boundaries? If Lo’ak and Spider did something stupid together would Jake punish both of them? What would a scene like this look like?
This is a very big question, in my opinion, and seems to have divided a lot of people depending in their answer. I think I can see it both ways. Spider is clearly a child that has grown up without a stable parental figure, and has lived his life trying to fit in where there seems to be no natural slot for him to do so. I do think he is relatively well adjusted, he's formed strong relationships with those his own age and he clearly has strong morals, all of which are accomplishments in themselves given the circumstances. Anyone else in his position would obviously struggle to deal with so much (being displaced by war, not having a stable family, and generally being an outcast by the tribe). If you add the daddy issues on top, which have provided him with a fluctuating sense of identity ever since he was old enough to understand who is father was, it's no doubt that Spider is definitely a special kid and extremely strong to have been through what he has, and come out the other side remarkably 'unharmed'.
We also can't ignore the fact that he was outrightly mistreated throughout his childhood as well. This is more obvious in the comics from the comments made by Neytiri, but there is also all the subtle ways in which he was excluded from the People and made to feel like an outcast. The kind of social isolation he suffered from clearly had an effect on him and is obvious in the way he has a complex about trying to impress, and not let anyone down, ever.
Your question asked about whether it's valid to say that Spider was neglected. In short, I think the answer is yes, but it's harder to pin point by exactly who and for how long. Individually, most of the adults in his life treated him with kindness and respect, and often fondness. I'm sure that Norm and loves Spider, too (and probably Max). But what makes him neglected is that by itself, that kind of treatment isn't enough for an extremely young child. What everyone seemed to miss while he was growing up is the lack of a parental figure. The McCoskers clearly weren't actually interested in raising Spider like their own, so that fell short; as a result, nobody else stepped up and Spider went without paternal or maternal love.
In my mind, the McCoskers are definitely guilty of neglect. The question of the other adults is murkier, because they are not directly at fault and Spider was really not their responsibility. However, in my opinion they did not do all they could to emotionally support Spider through his identity crisis and feelings of belonging. As such, I would say they emotionally neglected him.
That was a long and winding answer and I know that others have hashed this topic over at length before, but those are my two cents! 🥰
Would Norm and the other scientists have set rules and boundaries? Yes, I reckon so. When Spider was very young it would primarily be around safety and where abouts in the compound he should be, when. The McCoskers were probably responsible for bedtime routines and ensuring his basic needs were met, and I can see them being pretty harsh with that (for example shutting Spider in his room). As he got older and the McCoskers' attention turned to their own sons, they started to care less and less about Spider and creating firm boundaries. As a result he became a much wilder spirit and then the scientists would have had to put their own boundaries in place. By this point though, Spider was a young teen and probably all they could do was tell him off (which would work for a while). I can see the other scientists begging Norm to talk to Spider when he accidentally broke a piece of lab equipment.
If Lo’ak and Spider did something stupid together would Jake punish both of them? Jake would clearly be much harsher towards Lo'ak. I can see him just sending Spider back to the shacks, aware that Spider is not his son and nit his responsibility. In fairness to Jake, he personally struggles a lot with how to be a good father and isn't confident with the two sons he already has, so mentally I think he's distancing himself from Spider on purpose, because he's afraid and doesn't want to take on even more parental responsibility than he is already having to contend with. Lo'ak and Spider would meet up after and Spider would ask Lo'ak how bad it was. Lo'ak would probably moan that Spider is lucky he doesn't have to brunt Jake's anger, and Spider would outwardly agree.
Sorry it took me literal months to respond to this ask! I'm working my way through them 💞💙💞💙

Hi, do you have any thoughts about the fact that Spider, according to the first script, was supposed to be Mexican and his name was Javier? Do you have any headcanons as to what would happen if they kept it? 💙 Personally, I'm obsessed with this version and I wish they kept it! I would love to see him swearing in Spanish. Sorry for bad English but it's not my first language
I would have LOVED to have seen Mexican Spider 😭 it’s a tragedy honestly, and in my head at least, he is still Mexican from Paz, just blatantly white washed 🙃 However, I have to admit I prefer the name Miles to Javier. From a narrative standpoint, it’s a much more effective way to draw comparisons with his dad and create that tension. Presumably he’d still go by the name Javier? As it doesn’t have the link to his father the way Miles does? I think I’m too attached to the name and the meaning behind it to accept Javier now, but I am absolutely gutted about not having a poc Spider. I love Jack Champion and he is fantastic, but originally the character is described as ‘nut brown’ so… yeah.
As for him speaking Spanish, we were once again robbed 😫 truly one of the greatest missed opportunities in the film 👍🏻

Ik it’s been a hot minute: but can we get some avatar spider headcanons?? What do think he’d prefer, riding direhorse or flying Ikran? Just some general headcanosn like that x 🩷🩷🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶
It has indeed been a hot minute ahaha, but always happy to share spider thoughts 🙏🏻🥰
- he’s definitely an ikran boi, ever since he knew Toruk Makto he was obsessed. I picture him getting his avatar around 10 or 11 and one of the first things he snuck away with Lo’ak to do was to go banshee hunting
- he became fully accepted by the People and passed iknimaya around the same time as Lo’ak (despite being older) and they just were even more mischievous now that they had the whole forest and their own ikrans to fly
- he would be super religious, connecting with Eywa pretty much daily. There’s still a huge part of him that’s terrified he won’t be accepted by her when he dies, so he does all he can to connect with her. Kiri is only too happy to spend the time with him at the tree of souls together
- Neytiri is generally more accepting of him, but only in the later years after spider got his avatar and passed iknimaya, helping out around the camp. It’s far easier for her to accept him when he’s in his avatar form, and doesn’t really like to see him as a human

“It was a truth as simple as it was terrifying. Jake’s plan failed.
We lost.”
Felt like being sad, so I quickly doodled up an illustration of RDA descending onto Pandora, but from POV of the Sully kids, as they were escaping Hell’s gate at the time it happened 🤭 idk if it’s obvious but I wanted each character to have their own flavour of grief — their own unique reaction. Lemme know if I actually achieved it lol.
