Jake, to Ronal and Tonowari: You know, Spider is actually unusually tall for a human his age. He's certainly taller than I was.
Lo'ak: It's not harder to be taller than you were. You couldn't stand up.
Jake, deep sigh: Obviously I was talking about when I could stand, Lo'ak.

no bc imagine if it was Spider who got shot instead?? like no he-was-part-of-the-family-AU, like things were the same in canon, Neytiri can't stand him, Jake didn't rescue him, the whole works.
because if It was Spider who was shot instead, we can get more from his and Neteyam's relationship, how Neteyam would've reacted, we already know how Kiri and Lo'ak are gonna react, he's their friend, their brother, but Neteyam? we dont know, he hasn't expressed concern for Spider like the rest of his siblings do, when Lo'ak wanted to come back for Spider, he hesitated. i think, if it weren't for the fact that Lo'ak would've gone and rescued Spider whether Neteyam came with or not is the reason he obliged, he's not gonna let his brother nearly die like that, he's gonna have Lo'ak's back no matter what.
i really wanna what happened to Spider and Neteyam in canon, why weren't they close like Kiri and Lo'ak were with Spider? was it because he was the eldest and had responsibilities? was it because Neytiri told him to stay away? or did he do that by himself to not upset his mother? like???? ughhh what happened?

BEA PROGRAM ADMITTANCE NOTICE
(Snippet for a story I plan on writing)
Earth Date: March 3, 2174
To: Ms. Leighton Hamilton
Congratulations. You have been officially accepted into the Bureau of Education and Astrobiological Advancement (BEA) Program, Pandora Cohort 2174.
Following careful evaluation of your academic record, adaptability, and interstellar readiness, the selection committee has approved your placement among a small, elite group of human students chosen for immersive research and cultural exchange on Pandora (Alpha Centauri A3).
As a BEA scholar, you will contribute to critical studies in xenobiology, anthropology, and interspecies diplomacy while living at High Camp in cooperation with the Omatikaya Clan.
Your travel orders, medical prep schedule, and orientation details will follow. Confirm your placement within 72 Earth hours, or your spot will be reassigned.
Few are chosen. Even fewer are ready. Welcome to the frontier.
Dr. Hadrian Vos Director, BEA Program
