Laura Lippman’s I’d Know You Anywhere - in <100 words
Convicted creep, rapist, and murderer, about to be executed, reaches out to the one victim that lived.
That victim still wonders: why did he spare her?
Instead of tearing up his letter and going on her merry way, the victim writes him back. Husband, sister of victim say this is a brilliant idea!
Dual timeline: as the creep continues to talk to his victim, we get flashbacks of 20+ years ago, during the victim’s extended abduction.
Final verdict: didn’t go where I expected it to. Quiet and reflective rather than twisty and shocking, but still well-paced. Recommend.
