I'm starting to catch the Dragon Quest brainrot (again). I wanna play DQ 3 HD-2D remake since it's on steam, but I already know how the general story goes...

Also it's crazy how DQ8 came out over 20 years ago and has voice acting, meanwhile ScarVio dropped in 2022 and there's still no voice acting LMAO

Finally finished my first playthrough of 3DS DQ8 that I started like 2+ years ago (and yes the DQ Heroes being added to SSBU is what inspired me to try an entry out). Overall enjoyable! Though, primarily in regards to the story and characters. The gameplay was....a slog. Especially traveling on foot through the overworld to new areas, since the run speed felt slow.

The map was annoying because the dots on it were unlabeled and I constantly struggled to remember which settlement or dungeon was where - especially coming back to the game mid-story after how long my break was. Eventually I started referencing a labeled map I found online.

Too often, I landed in story lulls where I was supposed to go somewhere for progression but the game gave me basically zero hints, and consulting my party didn't help most of the time either. Apparently Kalderasha serves as a hint system, but I don't remember where he is so that was unavailable. I started using a walkthrough after a certain point, since my main goal was just to finish the game.

Idk if there's an item or something that lets you stop monsters from spawning, but good grief. Traveling through dungeons was sooo annoying because of the monsters that would either get in your way or rush you, making you have to constantly stop to flee from them or fight if you couldn't. The forced encounters during travel on the ship at sea drove me up a wall.

There's overall a big lack of QoL it seems, which does make sense since this game originally came out ~2004 I think. It's pretty old. I don't see myself playing this game ever again because the gameplay just wasn't fun for me to be frank, but I don't regret my time with it! I'm pretty fond of Eight as a DQ Hero now, and I am very interested in checking out DQ12 whenever that releases.

(I didn't choose to play DQ11 because I unintentionally spoiled myself on most of the story, and all other entries outside of 8 I basically didn't have a means to even play at all.)

This video is so cool!! I knew about some of the animations already, but not the air fainting ones. It's crazy how super old games can have this level of attention to animations, but then you look at the modern mainline pokemon games and.........yeah.

still working on this. slowly but surely... the longest & most difficult part is going to be the more thorough rendering + making some sort of background, because i'm very inexperienced with both. but hey, that's the whole point of practicing

(i'll spoil now that there's another character in this alongside tikal, who's not sonic, and that's the reason why it's gonna take me a bit longer than usual to finish this. have to render two characters lol

not submission. I really hate the "My OC, my rules" thing. Cause like, no? Just because they are your oc doesn't mean you can do whatever you want with them. If you want to make your oc suffer and not like them get help, you deserve to lose rights over them. Especially if you only do that stuff to purposely trigger people. Once you do that, your oc no longer belongs to you. they belong to the public who will take better care of them instead
