I think Smile 2 might be the worst horror movie I've seen since Happy Death Day. The lack of background made me completely unable to sympathize with Naomi Scott's character at all. Instead she just came off like a spoiled child throwing a temper tantrum.
Would also like to stress how much I am NOT fan of grown adults in horror movies wailing like toddlers. Like no. If I wanted to listen to that I'd turn on fucking Cujo or The Babadook both of which are infinitely better films than this bad teen horror movie schlocky bullshit.
The jokes were unfunny and the filmmakers spent the whole movie shoving the metaphor from the first film down our throats because people missed it the first time around: Trauma is bad. PTSD is not just for soldiers. Untreated mental illness is serious and terrifying.
The first movie was better and a million times less annoying.
Like I'm done being generous to bad horror movies, regardless of the age group they are intended for.
Cause, seriously, if parents don't want their kids exposed to horror movies because they are supposedly traumatizing then why are teen horror movies even a fucking thing at this point?
Why do you insist on pushing censorship on the rest of us who can actually separate fact from fiction?
That's the point, though -- censorship. And all of you who regurgitate that, "Well, it's for kids" bullshit are enabling censorship. Cause that's just the excuse they use to peddle this shit and YOU ARE BUYING IT! Fuck.

Trying to decide if Shaggy constantly being hungry in Scooby Doo REALLY was a pot joke (likely) or a joke about how a dog like Scooby Doo (a Great Dane, roughly the size of a small horse) would eat Shaggy out of house and home that went over the audience's heads?
Like what if Shaggy actually lived in his van cause he couldn't afford housing and dog food at the same time? He would rather be a van lifer than go without his dog. What if he's hungry all the time because he's literally starving himself to feed his dog???
I made myself sad......

I think that if you asked Shaggy what his gender was he'd say "you're, like, livin' in a prison of your own creation, man" and then eat a huge sandwich in one bite

For some reason the Scooby Doo, Where Are You? boxset is my most urgent Must Have right now. I'm not entirely sure why other than nostalgia goggles and I'm low-key terrified that it will be erased from existence soon because of the pot jokes and the Minivan Taliban. Looney Tunes and Tom & Jerry cartoons are also high up on the list as well, but Scooby Doo takes precedent.
I think that in a lot of ways it was the gateway to me becoming a horror nerd. My anxiety was so bad and I was so sheltered that I would break down in tears if I watched something like The Nightmare Before Christmas when I was a kid. Scooby Doo, however, made horror feel safe for me because there was a comedic element to the show. It made me wonder if ghosts and witches are real, and blah blah blah. So I feel very protective of it.
Also heads up: The OG live-action Scooby Doo movie is a million times better if you're an adult. Especially if you're not a parent and don't have to worry about your kids taking in the adult humor. That movie 100% should have been PG-13, though. It's absolutely hilarious, though.
