I just saw a DNI for "evil intentions". nobody puts up a warding talisman anymore just a fucking DNI
#I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they were a very young person#but in all seriousness#please don't use DNIs like this?? It won't stop actually evil people from approaching you#in fact it may be worse. like putting a target on your back because this *screams* “young person and easy target”#same with stuff like “DNI if you're a bigot”#that won't stop bigots from interacting#in fact they'll take it as a challenge because that's what they do. harass people who don't think like them#see: bigots creating Bluesky accounts just because they want to keep harassing certain people who left Twitter#if you're an adult you do you of course#but if you're a young person (like a teen or under 25) PLEASE reveal as little as possible about yourself on your profile#instead learn to detect questionable patterns (“red flags” if you will) so you can protect yourself both online and IRL#it'll help you detect who may have ulterior motives or bad intentions before anything happens. or who's trying to manipulate you#you as an individual can't control what bad people do. but you can control what *you* can do to protect yourself and your circle#so don't leave the responsibility of keeping you safe to anyone else. let alone the people you're trying to protect yourself from#that's the last thing anyone should do

Remember "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" ? I feel like there's been a distancing from the "reduce" and "reuse" part and a favoritism towards "recycle" by corporate American.
Capitalism can still thrive with recycling in the mix. You buy Plastic Thing 1, throw it away after one use, and they take that and recycle it into Plastic Thing 2 and sell it back to you. All while continuing to harm the environment.
Reusing puts a damper on things. They can't sell you Plastic Thing 2 when you're still using Plastic Thing 1. Plastic forks, for example- there is literally no reason why you can't reuse plastic forks more than once (aside from maybe microplastics, but it's too late for that)
Reducing is the one everyone wants to ignore. Just don't buy Plastic Thing 1. You don't need Plastic Thing 1. Pick up a set of metal forks and use those for years. Convenience is killing the planet

burn your music onto cds
use pdf24 (available online or as a desktop app) instead of adobe
use unroll.me to clean your email inboxes
use thunderbird, mailfence, countermail, edison mail, tuta, or proton mail instead of gmail
remove bloatware on windows PC, macOS, and iOS X
remove bloatware on samsung X

it's kind of sad that we don't really do custom ringtones anymore. most people just stick with the default list that comes with your phone, if they change it at all. if they're even aware they can change it at all. like yeah, people letting their phones ring in public is obnoxious, but wouldn't it be a little less obnoxious if it was something funny? or personal? people used to change the text tone of every contact so every time they got a text they knew who it was just from the sound. isn't that sweet? isn't that nice? don't you miss it? don't you want to scream when you hear that stupid apple pa-Ting!??? we could have a chorus of awoogas and clips of people's favorite songs and recordings saying '(blank) IS CALLING, WARNING, (blank) IS CALLING' and all things considered i would prefer that over pa-Ting!, pa-Ting!, pa-Ting!, whistle whistle, pa-Ting!
anyway im going to change my ringtone to the oldschool skype call sound and nobody will ever hear it because my phone is always on silent but i'll know. i'll know
