YES, SAME-SEX MARRIAGE IS IMPORTANT. BUT I WANT STRAIGHT ALLIES TO TAKE THIS INTO CONSIDERATION AS WELL.
• It is still legal in 29 states to fire someone for being gay/bisexual/pansexual/not straight.
• It is still legal in 32 states to fire someone for being trans.
• It is legal in 29 states to evict someone for being queer.
• It is still purposefully difficult for same-sex couples to adopt children.
• Bisexual, pansexual, polysexual, asexual, and demisexual people exist.
• So, you know. It’s not “gay” marriage that was legalized. It’s same-sex marriage that was legalized.
• Queer people (especially minors) are still getting beaten to death and kicked out of their homes.
• Being queer is still illegal in 79 countries.
• Being queer is still punishable by DEATH in 5 countries.
• The fight is far from over.

We - and by we, I mean, white feminists - need to talk about how Dylann Storm Roof, the Charleston terrorist, used white female purity to justify murdering black people.
“I have to do it,” he said. “You rape our women.”
This myth - that black men rape and assault white women - has been used to justify the murder of black people for centuries. It was used to justify lynchings. It was used to justify slavery. It is still used today.
And white feminists absolutely NEED TO REPUDIATE this myth, because white women’s tacit approval - and sometimes vocal agreement - with this myth is part of what allows this terrorism to happen.
People like Dylann Storm believe white women need to be protected from black men.
We don’t.
I stand in solidarity with the black community, not with people like Dylann Storm. He does not speak for me.
(100% inspired LaKeyma Pennyamon’s facebook post asking why white women haven’t already done this. Thank you.)

Mad Max: Feminist Road?
(cross posted from http://tbajournal.com/?p=5947)
One of the people who has called attention to the question of whether this movie is feminist or not is Anita Sarkeesian, founder of the platform Feminist Frequency and recently famous for being attacked and harassed over her Youtube series “Tropes vs. Women in video games”. I have so far been a supporter of Sarkeesian and found her videos informative and worthwhile, but on the topic of Mad Max, I disagree with her.

One of Doe’s most recent instagram posts was claiming this quote is fake and she never said this. Various different comments popped out at me and I took a screenshot before they disappeared, some were taken on different days at different times ect, but I thought they would be nice to share. I especially love that people are still talking about the hacking, no sweeping this under the rug so fast! Also the diffference in the newer velvetines is a interesting comment smelling rancid? That is just not good. But my personal favourite set of comments have to come from doll.farts it seems you can not silence people who have been around from the beginning!
Anyone who see’s their user name on this and doesnt want it to be there ask and I will block it out, I am not sure on the protocol here as to whether I should block them out or not!
